This review is way overdue…read more I started with Evolve back in November of 2020. I was 5 months postpartum, in a body I didn't recognize nor feel comfortable in, I felt incredibly weak, but I was ready to put in the work to feel better. I searched open gyms in my area and Evolve popped up. After a week trial I knew this was the gym for me. This is a small group weight/strength training gym. There's 12 people in each class maximum. It feels like group personal training classes. No class is the same. I've been going here for two years and not one single class is the same! You are encouraged but not forced or overly pushed. This was what I needed after having a baby as my body was still recovering. Every movement is intentional and proper form is encouraged. This gym will get you feeling strong and capable at meet you where you are at. Bo and Brietta are incredible trainers. They will encourage you as much as you need to be encouraged and have a way of letting you do as much as you are able. Everyone has different limitations and abilities and that is recognized and supported here. They always provide alternate movements when needed. They are both approachable and easy to talk to. I remember talking to Bo about breastfeeding when I was in that phase of my life- can't forget to mention that he encouraged me not to cut calories to keep milk production up, which showed me he wasn't just about weight loss results. Brietta is a peach - kindhearted and has the shape that can motivate any woman to train with her. Another thing I admire about this gym is the people. Every shape, size, age, color. They are all here. Everyone is positive and motivating. I've even made some friends here. So, all that to say, try this place out. You'll meet a new community of people who have similar goals as you. You'll be encouraged to move at your own pace and evolve as your body feels ready. For those mamas with new babies - come! You won't regret it. Oh, one more thing. 15-20lbs down and feel stronger than ever. In case you're into stats. ;)

That Saturday I had the best workout of my life! The workout itself was awesome, but what made the whole experience was how welcoming and awesome Coach Bo and all the other gym members were. It was such a fun and relaxed vibe where you can joke around and be serious at the same time. I loved being able to laugh and push myself at the same time. At the end of the workout Bo told me to come back and check it out again to see if I really liked it. The next day. I remember texting my friends that I couldn't get up off the toilet because my legs were jelly. I was for sure coming back! Basically, the rest is history. I joined the team for the EPIC race and we all kicked ass! The whole team was super supportive of each other and really helped motivate each other. Bo was right there the whole time encouraging all the team members and keeping us motivated! Every class is exhilarating and leaves you with the best feeling of accomplishment! Bo gives everyone the one on one attention during class, making sure you're using correct form and getting the most out of your workout and staying safe. The gym added yoga with Coach Darlene. I was super nervous the first time, but she is such a great leader and really helped me feel comfortable! Since the pandemic, Bo has gone into overdrive making sure we are all connected and getting the same great experience we would get in the gym from home. He has twice daily live zoom workouts and has all the workouts available through our group You Tube in case you miss them. He has our app set up with daily workouts you can do in addition or in place of the live workouts. Darlene does yoga zooms twice a week and we also have a wellness zoom available. What more could you ask for?! One of the best decisions I have ever made was joining this amazing gym family!

This gym had all I would need, was close to work, and merely having paid appointments would get my butt in the door for much needed self care. Kirk Cortez seemed like a nice guy, all was good. I signed up. Kirk turned out to be so much more than a nice guy. I came in to him broken from 3 years of health issues that included 3 big surgeries, and treatments and infections in between. I hadn't worked out in 4 years (and really hadn't pursued PT and other therapies to help, as I had lost so much time at work). I was incredibly fatigued, and knew that it would only get worse if I didn't start really moving my carcass ;) SO, I was in a poor state of fitness, and had areas that were frozen, tender, etc. I was nervous, and my past experience with trainers led me to believe I would be fighting him quite a lot while he tried to push me hard. He was the OPPOSITE. Kirk focused on many things, and the least of it was getting me jacked. One of his primary goals to assist in my healing and recovery was BLOOD FLOW. He talked to me about why and how much that would help. He was right. He checked in on me constantly, not just counting reps - but adjusting form and asking how it felt. There were some things that were a real challenge - that I would have thought of as silly, or not believed, just a year or two ago. He was the first to say that the worst thing for progress was to push too hard at this point. He pointed out that if I stretched something too much so that the next days things would be painful or pulling back, we would lose momentum, and muscles will actually tighten up on their own to act protective. He also didnt want me to be in pain so much that I would fear or dread coming in, as the progress in my mind was critical as well. There were times I was gassed, and there were other times that I wanted to push harder. Kirk applied wisdom in both cases - dropping weights or going to the floor and keeping me going when I was tired, and holding me to his plan when I was fired up and wanted to do too much. I left feeling great EVERY D@MN DAY I trained. There is nothing like having a crap day at work and then knocking out a training session, getting sweaty, and feeling AMAZING after. Take that, bad day! Throughout our workouts, we talked a lot about being banged up, the surprise of what we lose and how we change when injured - and not just physically. He understood how one area could have impact upon your whole body, and could damage your mood and outlook. He has had his share of injuries, which was INCREDIBLY relevant in my situation. Not only did I feel safe - as it was evident that he knew what he should and should not have me perform, but there was incredible relief not having to explain, argue, and feel that I was making excuses. I felt understood. There is a lot of tension released from that - who knew! He was always upbeat, we could talk work stuff, food, or anything else that made for an entertaining story. I highly recommend training with Kirk! Be sure to check out his competition pics. ;) Glory Days!

All the trainers are great each one has a different personality and style of training so it's nice to get the variety. And they all truly care about your personal goals. They give you modifications if you have an injury or when you're feeling like you need to train harder. The owner, Danny, is always looking for feedback so he can cater to his clients schedules and lifestyle, also looks for ways to build a community for us. They make you feel like family. And when you really commit with their nutrition recommendations the results are amazing. The other clients are great. It's nice to see familiar faces and to see people making progress on their goals. I love that they incorporate some alternative classes once a week. I can't wait to try the yoga. The virtual live zoom workouts have allowed me to have some routine/normalcy during this crazy difficult time of world wide viral war. I need someone telling me what to do and how my firm is and to push me harder. FitMo fam definitely does it for me. Thanks guys for keeping it going!

I am a 22 year old college student and I wanted to do something to start having a strong and fit body that I loved. I tried many different fitness programs in San Diego, but I had never been completely motivated to follow my coaches suggestions and to not cheat. The day I went in for the info session at Fitness and Motion, the coaches showed me before and after pictures of their clients and I thought "wow! they look amazing... if they can do it, so can I." In 6 weeks I have lost 11.5 lbs, gone from 27.4% body fat to 24% body fat, and lost over 3.5 inches off my waist. I think those numbers speak for themselves. I have a sweet tooth, but the coaches really motivated me to sacrifice sweets and give healthy food a chance, and I surprised myself in being able to do it! What makes their program awesome is how holistic it is, the trainers KNOW that to be healthy you need to workout but also need to eat healthy and sleep. They give you tips on how to not fail, like on what you can order at restaurants, or what snacks are good to have at your desk or purse that will actually aid in your nutrition and weight-loss. I will continue to go to Fitness and Motion because I see the results of their method on a weekly basis. The facilities are super clean, and you do not get that sweaty gym smell that some gyms have. Great music choices for the HIIT workouts. The only drawback for me is that they share bathrooms with the other businesses in the general area, but just bring your flip flops to shower there and you should be good. If you actually join them, I suggest being very open and communicative with the coaches. Tell them what you struggle with (whether it is eating or doing cardio on your own) and they have effective solutions and strategies for your struggles. I personally trained with Aurelie and Stephanie. They have great workouts to tone your abs and waist area. But most importantly, they really care that you get your results and that you get healthy because they care about you. They learn everybody's name and meet with people to establish new goals once the old ones are accomplished. I have no doubt that if I keep working hard and doing what they tell me to do I will get to my goal of body fat percentage very soon. Thank you to Fitness and Motion and the staff for starting me in the beginning of my new lifestyle and for being a such a supportive group of coaches. #FitMo #FitmoFam
