Fresh quality ingredients and the crust isn't too doughy nor too thin. The pizza tasted and looked like we got it from the some fancy shmancy artisan pizza restaurant. The best part is how ridiculously cheap it is. A large, unlimited toppings pizza cost us $16. Anywhere else would've ran us about $26-$30. We will be back soon!

I had been talking this place up to our team to let them know it was good food. This year was different, we had 2 hours between games so we thought we would go and order a pizza. We arrived at 5:30 and got our order in at the bar. Sitting and waiting, the bartender never checked on us or our drinks. 6:20, still no pizza. Finally a different bartender comes to check on us and we ask can you find out about our pizza? He comes out and brings the pizza and it's ice cold, he said it's been sitting back there for some time and no one ever brought it out. Now we have no time to wait for another pizza. He apologized even though he was not the bartender who took the order. Then the original bartender comes back over and fails to see the problem and never once apologizes. Just said he got busy. I get it, it happens. But they just left a pizza sit back there for 40 minutes and never thought hey someone might want that? The bartender could not understand why we were upset. And he was so defensive. I told the other guy I understand mistakes can happen but for him not to own up to it and be so rude to me after his mistake. I thought it was unacceptable. I had never felt so disrespected at a restaurant in my life. It really ruined the night, especially since we were looking forward to this for so long. Extremely dissapointed and it really did ruin the weekend. Hopefully this bartender can get it figured out and not be so rude to his next guests.

On Sunday, September 1st, 2019, I & a friend had just finished a "great tour" of the HISTORIC…read moreLEWELLING HOUSE---part of Iowa's Underground Railroad. By the way---this tour was very interesting & informative---everyone should take it!!! We realized it was mid-afternoon & we were STARVING & we didn't want to return to the Bentonsport area to eat. So we asked our tour guides.....where is the closest, best place to eat, on a Sunday. Both guides recommended the UNDERGROUND!!! And, we were very glad they did!!!! Upon entering the restaurant, we "instantly loved" the "creative decor". Re-purposing lead pipes, farm tools & equipment & using Edison light bulbs---they had created an ambiance unlike any other restaurant. The place was VERY CLEAN.....the light fixtures were very creative.....farm tools adorned the ceiling....the menu covers, salt & pepper/napkin holders were hand-made.....& we were the only customers in the restaurant (remember, it was mid-afternoon on a beautiful Sunday afternoon). The menu of "VERY REASONABLY PRICED MEALS" was extensive!! I chose a "chicken dinner"---knowing full-well that chicken ALWAYS takes longer to cook. However, this afforded us the opportunity to have a LENGTHY CONVERSATION with the AMICABLE OWNER, who was sitting in another booth. We didn't mind the wait, while her son prepared our meals, because she was "very entertaining & informative"!!!! Please forgive me, I didn't get her name. When our food arrived---it was hot, plentiful & delicious!!!!! This was a GREAT "all-encompassing experience"---terrific, inexpensive food, ambiance & conversation!!!!! Small communities in Iowa can't survive without a good restaurant. You're lucky, Salem, because you've got one!!!!!

The place was getting pretty crowded and I was picking up the chicken thirty minutes after the kitchen opened. Ok. Honest review. The chicken was juicy, moist and delicious. The next sentence bothers me: the skin was rock hard and burnt, oily taste. I smelled the old oil, first. Then, as I walked out, I noticed the cardboard box was full of oil on the bottom. I wondered how this chicken would taste if the oil was changed on a regular basis and the skin a benefit to the juicy inside meat. 5-Star review if oil was changed.
