I originally came to Dr. Chon's office looking for a new dentist for routine biannual checkups and cleanings. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the office is clean and modern -- it made a great first impression. During my first visit back in January, after the exam, they mentioned I might be grinding my teeth in my sleep and suggested a mouth guard. I had told them I clench my jaw often due to Jiu Jitsu and heavy lifting, so that could've been a factor too. I also mentioned a small gap developing between my two front teeth, and they offered Invisalign as a solution. Initially, I was told my insurance would cover $1,500 of the Invisalign treatment. Based on that info, I moved forward -- only to find out at my next visit that insurance didn't actually cover it, and I'd have to pay the full amount. They were nice enough to offer a payment plan, but it was still an unexpected cost. I just had my 6-month cleaning, and they applied a fluoride treatment without asking if I wanted it. Turns out that also wasn't covered by my insurance -- another surprise charge. Overall, I think the care is solid and the staff is great, but they really need to be more upfront about insurance coverage and treatment costs. Transparency goes a long way, especially when you're trying to make informed decisions about your health and budget. read more

Helpful tip: If you are recommended to have fluoride treatment after cleaning, you can ask the front office if your insurance covers it or what is the out of pocket cost.
