He was timely in responding, although was backed up for the pass through job, but we weren't in any rush. We did need an electrician to move some boxes and wiring for us, and Gerry recommended someone trustworthy and local who came that weekend to help get our project moving forward. We did have an issue with an outside pipe on a water faucet that leaked again after the winter, but Gerry came and fixed it no charge in the spring when we were ready to use it again. Bottom line: he's nice, reliable, and wants to put his name on quality work. Update, 06/2017: the outside hose line was leaking again so we called a real plumber who said we needed to replace the copper pipe and shouldn't have had Gerry use the shark bite tubing outside since it would have just kept cracking every year.

We were also concerned about some loose pickets in our yard fence and they assured us they could take out about 8 of the pickets that were loose and replace them with new ones. They also talked us through specific designs for the breezeway gates and everything sounded promising. On the day of the job they estimated they would arrive between 9-10am. They didn't show up until 11am and the lead installer had no idea about any of the gate design elements from the quoting phase. I had to walk him through everything again and he had to reach out to his boss to confirm more details. After all that, they had to go back out and actually purchase materials so it was well after noon before they started work. On the back breezeway gate, they did a fine job. The front breezeway gate had one post that was extremely loose and wobbling. The pickets they put in to replace our loose ones were completely the wrong size in height and width and looked atrocious. Several pickets were not even connected at all at the bottom and some of the ones that were, were not even screwed in all the way. Check out the pictures, this was the complete opposite of a professional looking job. After surveying the work, we immediately called to try and have them rectify the shoddy craftsmanship. Someone came out pretty quickly to have the gate wobble fixed. That guy pushed off responsibility for the mismatched, shoddy looking pickets and said he'd have the owner get in touch with us to come up with a solution. Guess what? He never did. We ended up trying to contact him multiple times and each time we were berated by some lady who sometimes claimed to be the owner, sometimes claimed the owner was some guy named "Ray" who would get in touch with us to come up with a solution. Mmm hmm. Heard this one before. The lady had the audacity to essentially blame us for having too high expectations of how professional the job should look. One time we actually managed to get ahold of someone named "Ray" and he immediately deflected, said he didn't need to discuss the job with us because his staff had it firmly under control. He told us they would be in touch to communicate a resolution. We left it at that. They ghosted and never communicated with us further, despite saying that they would. Company could not manage a professional install and ran away from the problem when called out on it. Spend money with them at your own peril.

They completed the work with care and respect. I found the quotes for the work to be reasonable. We had a water leak in a wall behind a very intricately designed kitchen with cabinets and granite. They took great care to remove the cabinets and counter top, make the structural repairs to the wall, and put everything back as it was. They installed a beautiful French door to my office, which required re-framing an existing oversized door way. It came out great. The team also completed several smaller projects for us. We had a sidewalk that was all disjointed. The ground underneath it had settled and left the…read moresidewalk broken in one spot and many other "tiles" uneven. I contacted A-1 Concrete and they sent out someone to take a look at the sidewalk. There was a little bit of miscommunication/lack of communication due to the quarantine but it was not for lack of effort on their part. When I finally decided to pull the trigger they came out the next day. They showed up when they said they would and called an hour before. We said hello, I showed him where the spigot was and he went right to work. It is very similar to the videos on the web site but these guys were working hard. The videos make it look easy. Joe and his assistant were sweating in the rain for 2.5 hours. He earned his money. He spent plenty of time afterward making sure everything was cleaned up and the sidewalk was level. The website says he is the owner and it showed in the pride that he took in his work. I am very happy with the result and the fair pricing. I would recommend Joe and A-1 Concrete.
