I finally got the right opportunity to try this place after many missed opportunities. After dinner with a friend at Green Papaya, I decided the time was perfect to swing in and try their Hawaiian Shaved Ice. I knew from reading about them on FaceBook that they had the real legit Shaved Ice, not the crap you see in stands in parking lots. Since I had the chance to go to Hawaii in April, and have the Hawaiian Shaved Ice at Matsumoto's (local legend), I couldn't wait to try Patty's version. I opted for the medium Coconut Pineapple. OMG it was so good! Just like I remembered in Hawaii! And to top it off, the owner and his daughter couldn't have been more nice, and loved sharing their love of Oahu as well. On top of having delicious Shaved Ice and great service, they also had an assortment of chocolates and popcorn, etc. Everything inside the store looked absolutely delicious, but my diet would only allow for a small treat on this particular evening :) I will definitely be back! read more

My family loves to walk through Hyde Park, and this is a welcome new stop on our rambles. The popcorn comes in lots of flavors and all are delicious. My children are always torn between the fresh cotton candy and Hawaiian Ice. The staff is super patient while the kids decide how many and which flavors to add to their ice. My son loves to mix blue raspberry and blueberry to make his mouth as blue as possible. The candy is all fresh and I think I'm going to try the Dreamsicle fudge on our next visit. (Which will probably be within the next two days! ) We see a great mix of people there - little people, young professionals and families are happily hanging out on the benches and tables just outside make for interesting conversation and new friends. It's a quieter vibe than the Esplenade around the corner for enjoying treats and we love it. Tip: "like" them on facebook for specials. I was in Cincinnati for a few days and stumbled across this adorable popcorn shop in Hyde Park. I love the old time feel of the store and the variety. I am a self confessed "sweet tooth" and I can tell you that the popcorn is super yummy! I had a chicago mix (caramel corn fused with cheese)=amazingly tasty and the Shop Suey (peanuts and caramel)= taste like old time caramel goodness. Gotta try this place every time I stop by Cincinnati. P.S. The friendly staff is an extra plus. read more

This is a great little store. They have the best popcorn and a ton of other candy to choose from. Not to mention the people who work there are extremely friendly. What a hidden gem, tucked away away from the hustle and bustle of Hyde Park Square. I had been here once before three years ago but completely forgot about it, until I rediscovered it! Nostalgic for the vintage candy of your childhood? Sour straws, ring pops, push pops, bubble tape - Patty's got it. Frozen yogurt? Got it. Popcorn? Oh you betcha. There are samples out for you to try, and the popcorn is made in small batches so it's fresh and makes the store smell amazing. And then there's a rotating popcorn flavor in the case. When we went on Saturday, they had truffle popcorn. TRUFFLE POPCORN GUYS. It doesn't get more gourmet than that! They have empty metal tins that I assume you fill up with said popcorn. The only thing I regret is not walking out of there with more popcorn. (WHY DID I GET A SMALL? ALWAYS GET THE LARGE. Life lesson learned.) There's also a wall of Jelly Belly beans, and a display case full of chocolate. They also have bulk candy at a really really good price (swedish fish, peach rings, etc.) And to top it all off? 20% off with a yelp check-in. Patty's reminds you why life is good. read more

Patty's Old Fashioned Popcorn product is great but their customer service is very poor. I recently placed a $425.00 order and due to miscommunication error the order was not ready when I went to pick it up. The owner made me feel like my order was not "big enough" for him to help solve the problem and treated me with a very arrogant attitude. I canceled my order and will not go back. I work for a very professional prominent local company that is service oriented. Our customers are "right" even when they are wrong! That's how we run our business. Did not find it so at Patty's Popcorn. The product may be good but customer service "not so good" I will take my popcorn business elsewhere! read more

Went today after passing by the location several times, and I cannot wait to go back. Not only was the staff very attentive and friendly, but their selection was superb. Tons of popcorn flavors I've never even thought would be a good idea (rest assured, they're ALL good ideas, and I know this because I spent quite a bit of time at the little popcorn sample bar they had set up), jelly beans, novelty candy, chocolates and even shaved ice. My friends and I had a fantastic time and I got a ton of goodies for such a low price. I'm currently elbow-deep in a bag of popcorn and I cannot wait to go back. read more

We walked into this adorable place last night in search of a snow cone on our walk thru the square. The inside is a real step back in time and feels like a legitimate popcorn/candy store. Their selection was great from more than a dozen flavors of popcorn to jelly beans and tons of other candy as well as soft drinks, soft serve and hawaiian ice. The ice was soft and refreshing and for 50 cents you can get ice cream on the bottom (obviously you want to do that). The workers were friendly and the shop was neat and clean. Simply put this place IS the best in the city of Cincinnati. I grew up in Wisconsin and there were plenty of confectioneries and popcorn joints within driving distance. (2 hours to get Garrett's.) This place is as good as it gets here in Cincinnati. Great, and friendly staff; HUGE variety of candy and the best Chicago Style Popcorn that you can find. Great value as well, being from the upper Midwest you will pay 20 to 30 dollars more for a good mix of popcorn. Patty's is just as good as Garrett's if not better and a heck of a lot cheaper. I was a regular customer for a while until the store closed suddenly this year. When it opened back up I purchased my normal medium bags of cheese & caramel popcorn like I've done before. Well, the popcorn wasn't up to standards so I took the bags back for a replacement, however the replacement bags were the same!!! After months of not visiting I decided to give them one more try, I was praying it was back to normal because I was getting popcorn as a birthday treat to myself. Once again I was disappointed!! I cannot believe my favorite bag of cheese popcorn was so CHEWY AND NASTY!!! I refuse to take it back because I'm sure it'll be replaced with the same old nasty chewy popcorn. Well I have been wanting to try this place because I love popcorn and old fashioned things. The only info the website really said at the time was this was a nostalgic place- with popcorn and candy, and get greeted by friendly faces. Well no body greeted me or the people after us not like I cared but it was noticeable because at first I was the only one in the store and the 3 ppl working were talking about what to do with the website. I am sad I didnt know they had shaved ice! It's weird a business doesn't try to sell anything when you enter. Then I checked out and bought popcorn and the guys first words to me were "Are you expecting?" I wasnt! So my day was ruined and I didnt even look pregnant I had a new cute dress on! Dammit! Popcorn is pretty good even though I now feel fat eating it. And I didn't take a receipt and the guy cashing me out assured me it was a trustworthy place and they charged me the correct amount. Odd.
