I was dropping off at the airport and had to spend some time there before everything was settled…read morewith my friends onward journey. I flew out from T2 years ago and this was the first time I had cause to witness T1 first hand.
The terminal is the older one but it manages to remain a pretty decent looking if almost purposely designed middle of the road terminal interior. Nothing to write home about. The staff however were not brilliant, there was a definite attitude of annoyance at being asked very basic questions about directions and what travellers need to know when checking in etc. The queueing times were long at check in as well as Ryanair had only one lady on running from behind the desk to the automated machines and having to keep everyone right, this held things up a lot, the short queue od about 8 people ahead of us took a long time to be sorted.
Once my friend left I hung about a bit longer as I would have left and run right into rush hour. So my experience is all airside. I ate in Starbucks that was fine, as was the coffee, however again the letdown was jaded and tired looking staff, who just could not seem to lift their spirits enough to maintain a basic level of courtesy.
Cleanliness in the food area was a bit lacking as most of the free tables were still covered in empties and crumbs.
Its still passable as a facility, but most front line staff directly employed by the airport, airlines and the on site businesses could do with more support from their employers to enable them to provide a better service.
