Think Disney World winding around long. But it did move pretty quickly, as some stations were initially designated for EU citizens only, but they opened up those stations for US citizens as well since it had become pretty crowded. Easy to locate a ride outside the airport, too. Hail a cab (no need to prebook if you don't want to), or hop on an available bus to bring you to your destination. This is a very crowded airport, so keep your wits about you, look at the signs and ask for help if you need to. Help is graciously provided should you need assistance. Be prepared to walk up and down stairs or take the escalator, as this airport has multiple levels. If you're toting a bunch of luggage or a stroller, that can slow you down. All in all, not a bad airport, unless you're leaving and have to go through security. That's a whole other story relayed in a separate review.

When we arrived, we went straight to baggage claim. The walk is really really far and I had a heavy shoulder bag, so the hubs ended carrying it for me. Our bags didn't take that long to come out, but our friend's took a awhile. Not sure if it was because he didn't have priority boarding or if it was just a fluke. Grabbing a cab was easy. My friend used an app. The pricing wasn't too bad for an XL version since we had so much baggage. Super long walk to the Ryanair gates, but otherwise, the airport was fine. REVIEW #4108

The agent we encountered was helpful, despite his long, often hard to follow, explanation of where we had to go to get through security and locate our departing gate. Security that we encountered here was surly, at best. Sharp, barked orders greet us. Take off your belt. Put everything in the trays. Shoes above the ankle need to be removed. Put it in the trays. Now! Keep moving, don't hold up the line! Walk through the scanner and be prepared for anything they throw at you. My traveling companion had a long-sleeved tee shirt on that had a hood. "Can you take that off?" Well, yeah, she could take it off, but it's her shirt and she has undergarments underneath - and that's it. "Can you take that off?" she was asked once again. She finally lifted up the front of her shirt and flashed them her torso showing only her bra. I think they got the picture then, but proceeded to FULL BODY scan her (foot up on a chair, scan between the legs, that sort of full body scan). Meanwhile, I'm being yelled at to "keep moving!" I was attempting to put my belt back on and there were hardly any people behind me. The agent continued to bark at me to move, stack the trays, go down to the end - NOW. Jeez. If you obviously have no patience for this job, then perhaps you should find another line of work. Once you finally make it through security and towards the gates, you are bombarded with duty-free perfume shops (and smells) and duty-free liquor kiosks. Once you get to where the gates are, don't expect a whole lot of concessions. There was a coffee counter near our gate and it was hopping. A walk down to the end produced a few other spots to purchase food, but there were not many. Leaving on a morning flight, we only wanted coffee, and we did get that. This is obviously a busy airport, and things did go smoothly once we were at the gate and ready to board. But that whole security encounter was a bit over the top.

Nothing like a crazy long layover when you are just trying to get home. There were no hotels in…read morethe entire city available (not even super expensive), so the only option presented to us was to sleep in a chair or on the floor with tons of other stranded passengers in the Airport. Luckily the airport is overall clean and easy to navigate. Not clean enough to say yes to sleeping on the floor though. In trying to get re-booked on another flight, we had wonderful help by Aoife! Downstairs by Carousel 6 was the help counter where she and another lady (also super nice and helpful with other passengers) guided us kindly and with understanding as we were the last flight to come in that night which got stranded as all vouchers for rooms were given out already, even though we were promised them earlier in the day. Kindness goes a long way when truly there was nothing else they could do. With quick thinking and 1 rental counter still open, we decided to rent a car and sleep there for the night. Best decision as we had a place for our luggage and a semi-comfortable place to rest. Next best thing to a hotel room. As for the food at the airport, well it was some of the worst I've had. Somehow, many places had high Google reviews and we choose one of those, but was completely disappointed. Pretty much ate from the convenience stores for better and healthier options (yogurt, fresh fruit, drinks, etc). Going with a 4 star rating based on excellent customer service with re-booking and car rental. Plus, you can carry up to 2L of water through security. 1 star off for food dissapointing food options.

I flew out from T2 years ago and this was the first time I had cause to witness T1 first hand. The terminal is the older one but it manages to remain a pretty decent looking if almost purposely designed middle of the road terminal interior. Nothing to write home about. The staff however were not brilliant, there was a definite attitude of annoyance at being asked very basic questions about directions and what travellers need to know when checking in etc. The queueing times were long at check in as well as Ryanair had only one lady on running from behind the desk to the automated machines and having to keep everyone right, this held things up a lot, the short queue od about 8 people ahead of us took a long time to be sorted. Once my friend left I hung about a bit longer as I would have left and run right into rush hour. So my experience is all airside. I ate in Starbucks that was fine, as was the coffee, however again the letdown was jaded and tired looking staff, who just could not seem to lift their spirits enough to maintain a basic level of courtesy. Cleanliness in the food area was a bit lacking as most of the free tables were still covered in empties and crumbs. Its still passable as a facility, but most front line staff directly employed by the airport, airlines and the on site businesses could do with more support from their employers to enable them to provide a better service.

I'm pregnant and need to bring my feet up between international flight. This is the most unfriendly airport towards the elderly, pregnant women, and those with disabilities. I explored the entire airport for 4 hours and there's not even ONE area with minimally a carpeted floor to sit on to bring your feet up. This isn't traveler friendly at all. They treat people like cattle. Sad to see.

As a birthday present for my boo (new way to say my boyfriend:) I got a voucher for an hour flying…read morelesson. He didn't know until we arrive at the aerodrome ! 1* For the Staff : I was in contact with John Nugent from the moment I booked the voucher on groupon in October 2015. The weather being what it was, there was no way we could fly. But John kept in touch and he was very kind. Last week we planned the flying lesson for the next weekend. This morning he called me before the lesson to confirm. So professional and nice ! 1* For the preparation : They are obviously used to have couple coming over. The girl get a voucher for her man to fly. That's funny actually ! So we got our yellow jackets to go out on the airfield. The instructor explained everything about the plane to mister while I was chatting to a lovely man about planes and the conditions to fly. After 14 minutes the plane took off. 1* For the flight : The flight lasted 45 minutes. I will write more when I get the details :) 1* For the waiting room : Whiler mister was flying I took pictures and wrote my review. The reception room is big and warm. On one side there is a little cafeteria where I could sip on a cuppa while waiting for my man to come back. The prices are really cheap and everybody is lovely. It looks like a family place where people gather around their hobby and have a good time really ! 1* For the organization : While I was waiting I could tell the schedule is well organized. People arrive, check in, wait for a bit, and while they wait the staff comes to update how long is left to wait. I really appreciated that. It makes all the difference and customer really feel taken care of ! This was such a great idea for a birthday present ! I think I will probably try myself sometime soon.
