At the free consultation (2nd opinion) appointment time, for my sensitive teeth, Dr. Patton told me that I needed 8 new crowns. And that #2 and #3 needed to done asap. And that I had fissures on the surfaces of all 8 molars. I asked Dr. Patton could my molars #2 and #3 break while I am eating? And he said, yes and that's why these need to be done as soon as possible. So, I did get them done right away. Well, my husband asks later, so why didn't our other dentist who we have been seeing for years and just recently you saw tell you that you needed 8 new crowns and they all had fissures on them? One of the crowns he put on was an original tooth, no crown on it and he ground my tooth down too much and put a crown on it. Anyways, it took 3 months for my swelling, pain to subside. I then noticed that I could masticate my food to the point of almost choking on the salad or whatever food I was eating. So, I started chewing on my left side. And I started getting headaches, which I never get headaches. I got headaches about 3 times a week. I thought to myself this isn't good. Note: (I did call the Dr. Patton's office and spoke with the office staff and Dr. Patton within the 3 months of healing, and they all said it takes time to heal and different people it takes more time). My husband said get a 2nd opinion. So we did, 3 more dentists and all 3 said that the #2 and #3 crowns that Dr. Patton put in are too short and too big in diameter for my mouth. And that I had an occlusion. One dentist Dr. Kohani (This dentist is so good). Dr. Kohani took plastic matriculation paper and had me test my bite and it went right through my teeth as I was trying to bite down as hard as I could to keep it from being pulled out of my biting it. No wonder I couldn't masticate my food properly! My bite was off and was not even touching the bottom molars to chew food. So, I contacted the CDA California Dental Association and went through the process, only to find out after months of paperwork, emails, etc. that my complaint was past the 1 year from the CDA receiving my complaint. They had this fine line of 3 years from the date of completion of the service or 1 year from recognition of the alleged problem which ever occurs first. Well, this is confusing phrasing (wording), because the "service" I got from Dr. Patton was clearly less than 1 year when I called the CDA about this problem. Just wanted everyone out there know about this, so you can make your own informed consent. read more
