My wife and I were attending a wedding in Iron Mountain and our lodging was in Dunbar, WI, so for breakfast I did a quick search for "breakfast near me," and Patti's Platter was the closest of three establishments. After a quick glance at ratings on Yelp, we decided to try it. I'm pretty sure Patti herself was our server. She was very kind and hospitable. And just as I like it, she kept the coffee coming. I really appreciated the attentiveness. My wife had a bacon/mushroom/cheese omelette with raisin toast and hash browns. I ordered the special which was country fried steak and eggs with hash browns. Both our plates arrived and the food was delicious. My over easy eggs were perfect. It's not easy to do country fried steak right--seriously. I've had bad cuts of meat to overcooked meat. But Patti's recipe was one of the best I've had. I ordered the sausage gravy and it was seasoned to perfection. The diner is very hometown, country style and clean. Overnight, after the wedding I did another search for the next days breakfast. I was surprised by some of the negative reviews. Mostly I noticed comments about rude service or wrong orders. My wife and I experienced nothing like those reviews. We even decided to go back the next morning. This time I ordered 3 slices of French toast, sausage, over easy eggs, and sour dough toast. My wife ordered the breakfast sandwich and hash browns. Once again, Patti's hit it out of the park. The brioche French toast was fluffy and coated well . It stood up to the maple syrup well. My wife loved the sandwich. While Patti kept my coffee mug full, a different employee had waited on us. Everyone was friendly and polite. I had never been to this part of Wisconsin, but if I get up to the area again, I will definitely be eating at Patti's Platter. It is bookmarked in my Yelp app. read more

We tried Patti's Platter for breakfast. Overall, we were impressed with the good breakfast. They have a fairly decent menu for breakfast. I liked that they had an option for lighter appetites. I got the stuffed hash browns and let me tell you that you will not walk away hungry with that! It was delicious and filling. Our waitress was very friendly and polite. She checked in on us frequently. And the place itself has plenty of room for everyone. It is clean and has a little bit of a homey touch to it. I would highly recommend checking this place out. Who ever thought of grilling the bread ( in GROSS tasting margarine) for a hot beef dinner plate ??, Leave the bread RIGHT OUTTA THE BAG ! and just pour the beef gravy over it. Just this very morning I ordered a meat lovers omelette with American cheese. What I got was an omelette filled with meat and then cheese on top of the Omelette not holding the meat together. Making a messy meal I also ordered corned beef hash which consequently literally come in a shape of a patty. Patty's platter used to be really good. But now I don't know if I'm going to keep getting food from them other than just pancakes because they really can't mess that up. This unsatisfying meal costed me $23! read more

We've now stopped here twice for breakfast on our way home from the UP. Around 8 cars in the parking lot today and we waited an hour for eggs. Order was wrong. Nobody came back to see how we were doing and they are understaffed so just had to deal with it so we could get back on the road. When paying they asked how everything was and we told them about the mistake. They said sorry! and promptly took our money. Just keep driving. read more

Toldja we go here annually. Still the same great food. Their seasoned fries are really tasty and we were all happy with our meals, egg sandwich, BLT, burger. 4 Star food. Restaurant was about 75% full and again, 30 minute wait for food. To me that's just too long in a diner. So go if you're in no hurry, if you are you might want to go with soup (good) and/ or pie (pretty good). read more

Years back it became Patti's and everything here has remained amazing as ever. It's still awesome food, clean, and friendly employees. I just spent some time nearby for deer season and I definitly enjoyed having my meals here. We're a family of eight and they have seating that accommodates us. The menu has plenty of options to interest all of my family. It's worth stopping by and don't forget to enjoy slice of the awesome pie. read more

This place is one of my favorite restaurants in town! It's very nice inside and the service is very amazing! You can get refills and the price is reasonable. The only reason I brought 5 stars to a 4 was because the time it took for our food to get to us was just a tad out of hand. If they could try to fix this I think I would rate it a five star place! read more

Patti's Platter (formerly Mary's Place) is a great little diner to go and receive great service with a smile and generous portions of some of the area's favorite foods. Though it isn't great looking from the outside, the inside and bathrooms are clean. The food is terrific and the pies are always delicious. My favorite "special" is taco salad. It is the best I've ever tasted. Unfortunately, it isn't a part of their everyday menu, but they provide calendars with each days special, so you don't miss out on your favorite. They have a special "spin the wheel" for birthday guests. They also sell a few knick knacks, candy, and newspapers. Patti's Platter will accept personal checks and, of course, cash but they don't accept card. I recommend Patti's Platter to anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxing, delicious dinner (or breakfast!). read more

The last few times I came in they were polite and the food was OK. The last two times were beyond horrible. We were treated so rudely. I had to send my order back because it was literally someone else's order and then when my order came out they slammed the plate down in front of me. The two females behind the counter glared at us and had the worst attitude I have ever seen. I was actually worried they were going to do something to my food for sending it back. The food was gross and when we asked for shakes to go they tasted freezer burned and old. They didn't offer us a discount for the bad service they handed me a 48 dollar bill for 2 people. The woman who owns the place is very nice but her staff is beyond rude. I live locally and have watched this place decline over the last year. So to sum up poor rude service gross food and I'm fairly certain I was way over charged..... Or at least charged for sending back for that wasn't mine. Hopefully they get it together because I personally don't like paying to be treated like dirt. read more

Food and prices are good. Ate breakfast two days in a row with six brothers. Small menu but attentive service and fair prices. I wish they would change the type of oil that they cook with, but that is a small issue. They do need to strengthen their coffee, seemed a bit watered down. My husband had chicken supreme sandwich which he liked. I had chicken strips because I just wasn't sure I liked the look of the place. I'm not opposed to diners but just didn't feel it here. The pie was awesome blueberry and apple were both tried. I felt the waitress could have been friendlier. Would take a pass but would go in and grab a slice of pie. read more
