Water's Edge Lodge - Deluxe Fish Sandwich w/Fries

Friendly place with good food and drinks with a great view of the lake…read more They offer a pretty great soup and salad bar that can be ordered as a meal if you would like. Otherwise you can add it to your sandwich for $8. (I'm not sure if the soup and salad comes with a dinner or if you have to pay extra). The salad bar was well stocked with many fresh options and I loved the soup. Tonight's was potato bacon and it was fabulous. All of our sandwiches were good and were well prepared. I had the deluxe fish sandwich, which was huge, hot and tasty. Server was friendly and checked in a number of times during our meal. My friends have a cottage nearby and it's been a go to for them ever since the new owner took over a few years ago.

TL:DR? Overpriced mediocrity…read more Based entirely off Yelp I had high expectations. My in-laws live nearby and on a whim decided to say "Yes." My sons were ecstatic . Theirs was a great experience because of the view of the lake on a beautiful November day. We were seated promptly, everyone in the family was smiling and impressed. The waitress seemed disappointed from the beginning. Her service was sub par- could've just been a bad day, but after waiting nearly ten minutes during an obviously slow Saturday at 4:30 for someone else to show me their face and help; I gave up and had to go ask the bartender for ketchup for the now cold onion rings. The cheese curds were typical bar quality. The food was slow to arrive, but good things take time. Right? It was decent. The Alfredo was good, noodles al dente, chicken seemed to be off cuts. "This chicken has a good flavor but it's super chewy" said the 10 year old. Enough said. The Saturday special was prime rib. No complaints just not stellar. My wife had the walleye. Again personal preference she doesn't enjoy the skin on, and again - typical bar food quality fried fish. The biggest disappointment was a silent one. My 7 year old loves all hamburgers. He took 3 bites and didn't complain. Or ear more than that .. I tried a bite of the burger and I concurred with his assessment. I left 10% for her efforts. My wife wasn't pleased with the decision, "You're far too generous." All in all- beautiful setting. Nice ambience. Average food for a bar on a lake.

I opted for the poor man's lobster with the seasoned wedges. Friends got the fried perch with homemade fries. The wedges were much better than the fries. The fries were good but not as crisp as I would have liked. We sat at the bar and Mary the bartender was so friendly. Drinks were a good pour and they made a hell of an old fashioned. The pricing was so inexpensive. With a couple rounds of drinks plus food it was only 85 bucks. So not only is this place great for you stomach it's also light on your wallet

Ok, listen. This…read moreplace is amazing. It's also 100% divey. Both can be true. Saw the reviews of this spot when we were staying at a cabin in nearby Mountain, WI. We drove up (with my parents in two, no less) and thought--uhh...they have food? And, according to Yelpers (thanks Lori!), good food? Indeed. We walked in, grabbed a table, and a server immediately popped over with menus. The menu is brimming with all the pub grub classics so there was something for everyone in our party of five. I got their fish fry, which was outta this world. Huge pieces of fish, tartar, coleslaw, choice of potato and rye bread. It was the sort of meal where the entire table goes quiet as everyone is in their own world of deliciousness. When we were finished, our server asked if we'd be interested in dessert. The dinner portions were so ample, we were leaning toward no until she offered to bring over the candy basket. Candy basket? Some places have a dessert tray Grudgeville Pub & Grub has a candy basket. Yes, please. I rarely, if ever, purchase candy bars so sifting through their selections was a real treat. I got a Kit Kat duo (mint + dark chocolate kit kat bar = who knew? Not me!). It was a fun little treat to top off an otherwise exemplary meal. Don't let the out of season Christmas lights, ancient linoleum, mismatched vinyl chairs fool you--this place is serving up legit eats. Get to it!
