Great small town breakfast place! Thomaston is lucky to have Patti's and it's great that they were able to survive the last 2 years. It's a throwback to the 60's/70's and you'd think it was still back then walking into the place. While we were there, a car pulled up with a rather large dog hanging it's head out the window. A waitress went outside and gave the dog some large amount of something (bacon, I believe). They are obviously regulars and the visit was apparently expected! Another car with another dog pulled up minutes later! It was just so great to see and be part of this small-town, very friendly community! The food was great, too! read more

Sometimes, Yelp is a little unpredictable. Not so with Patti's Place. It gets high marks from me. Came here recently for a breakfast and they had nearly a full house. Searched for the menu only to realize it was up on the wall above the window. The regulars know that and this place is full of regulars. And the staff treats them as part of the family. But even being an outsider, they served up a mean eggs, potatoes and bacon. The bacon was particularly noteworthy -- it didn't feel like that cheap thin version that sometimes passes. The large hanging sign has an added "freedom fries now available" shingle at the bottom. It seems like the local old time farmer haunt. Smells somewhat like cats when you first walk in (an olfactory observation that was disputed by my wife - to be fair). This being October, my wife had the pumpkin pancakes w/ apple cider syrup, which was really good. I had an egg/cheese/sausage breakfast sandwich on pumpernickel bread, which was also very tasty. Even the coffee wasn't half bad. Patti's is a bit rough around the edges, but it's a good choice. It's also rather small inside, so take a quick peak through the window before you decide to park. They also DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS, so bring your cabbage. Very "home town" kinda place...I love diners like this! We were warmly welcomed (that doesn't always happen to "non-townies") and by luck, a table for 4 was open. We got orders in and food came quickly. One kid got pancakes and bacon - all good, other kid got a plain hamburger and could not have been happier. Husband got Eggs Benedict and pronounced them not only edible but good...and the man has had Eggs Benedict all over the world! I had steak and eggs - nice sized, tender steak, cooked perfectly - eggs were also cooked perfectly over medium. My only complaint? A total lack of seasoning...zero. BUT, I kind of get it too...they are more likely to let you season to your own taste, as the hometown crowd might not go for a lot of seasoning...it's personal. Patti's is the best at what it is... a cool, corner breakfast/ lunch spot serving you food w/ a side of local character. Atmosphere - 50's dinner, few tables, long counter, wear & tear, personality and personalities. Food - I ate here twice. The first visit I had egg whites, pancakes, sausage and toast. The second visit consisted of blueberry pancakes and egg whites. The food on the first visit was basic and great. I like that they serve real maple syrup instead of Kyro w/ maple flavoring. On the second visit, the blueberry pancakes were phenomenal. They, per the cook/ owner Patti, contained Main Wild Blueberries and added to sweet flavor of the pancakes. Service - Service was great and the friendly interaction w/ other patrons added to the appeal of the place. On my last visit, I had the chance to speak w/ "Sleepy", the senior customer and previous owner of the restaurant before he sold it to Patti. He got the nickname due to the stride of his movements (i.e. it is like he is sleep walking). Sleepy was a pleasant person to speak to and gave me some insight into the history of the town and his apparent passion for dancing...if the waitress will ever ask him out. Overall - For a great breakfast, I will definitely visit again in the future...if there is a spot open. read more

This unassuming little diner in downtown is only open for breakfast and lunch, but is well worth a visit. The food is great, the service warm and the prices cheap! I had the Pastrami and Swiss on rye and could barely finish it. My family's other sandwich choices were equally filling, fresh and tasty. And they service breakfast all-day. Found this place on Yelp and it meets all expectations. I wish this place was closer to home as it reminds me of one of my favorite local restaurants where everybody jaws with each other. When we decided that we wanted a reuben omelet Patti's put it together for us. They seem to keep cranberries and walnuts on hand for my fathers pancake cravings. Yes it is rough for those that don't know Thomaston, but it's a great working class greasy spoon. Breakfast and lunch specials daily, and always changing not the same mix rehashed each week. Patti does look for seasonal ingredients to incorporate into dishes and keeps Vinny working at the grill. Fun place for an old fashioned greasy (but not overly greasy) diner breakfast. Tiny place, sits 37 officially but anymore than 25 would feel tight. Since you're probably not a Pattis regular (most of them probably don't own a computer) be prepared for the regulars getting preferential treatment. But you won't really mind because the atmosphere is classic small town diner- the sh*t-giving banter between the old retired men and the old waitresses is worth the price of admission. And something unprecedented happened.... Since it was Xmas time and we saw and smelled them right of the oven, we ordered a pumpkin muffin as part of our breakfast. The old waitress gives a conspiratorial grin and says "would you like that grilled?" And of course we did and it was excellently crunchy, our first grilled muffin, nice. - A LONGTIME, HIGHLY VALUED PART OF THE THOMASTON - This is a great little diner. Please note: it's a cash-only business. I've made a point to stop in here 30-40 times over the past 10 years. Sometimes there's a wait, but the food and coffee are usually well worth it. Patty herself is a staple of Thomaston. Known and loved by all. There's a guy cooking here most days, perhaps her husband, I don't know. It has the usual diner fare, nothing gormet, but it does all the basics very well. No TV! It's so nice: all you hear here is real people, actually talking with one another, and with the owners of the place. And depending on where you sit, you may hear the toaster popping up, or eggs sizzling on the grill (which is right there behind the counter, right out in the open for all to see). The location is really nice, at the junction of Main Street, Park Street, and a 3rd street. The town green, complete with hostoric statues, is right outside the large picture windows of Patty's Place. If you sit near an outside door in the winter, expect some very cold breezes to hit you. The windows often fog over with humidity, but that just adds to its hometown charm. It's tables may be too close together, its bathroom way too tiny. But the food is very good. Living in Thomaston Patti's Place was sort of a staple for kids in town growing up. When I started working downtown I began to always make sure I had cash on me all the time for lunch as I started to go here a lot. Patti (yes she's actually the one cooking) consistently serves up great food, and quickly. On a 30-minute lunch break it was great! As Preston P said it is a little rough around the edges but it's still a great little place. If you're there as much as I always was they even take the time to get to know your name and a little bit about you. Sure enough I went back for the first time a couple weeks ago when I got back from college for winter and they remembered me and struck up conversation immediately.
