Terrible customer service. The review that I read describing the owner as the Soup Nazi made me laugh because it is so accurate. All of my interactions with him have left a bad taste in my mouth. He is so rude, dismissive and acts like he's doing you a favor by letting him make a cake for you. It sounds like they make delicious cakes here, but I never got the chance to try any. We tried on several occasions to set up a cake tasting appointment and a meeting to go over the cake we ordered. Just giving them a deposit ended up being so difficult--they never answered the phone and half the time their emails were returned to sender. I probably had to call five or six times just to connect with him on his cell to take the deposit. He would email me windows of time to make the call and then he wouldn't even answer. Their store is closed 90% of the time it is listed as being open. We also found out that the cake we ordered is actually being canceled and we got no explaination at all. Patticakes never even contacted us themselves and we only found through other means that they canceled all their orders for the summer. If we hadn't heard through the grapevine, we could've ended up a few weeks away from our event and not had our cake! Hopefully getting my deposit back will be easier than it was trying to pay it. And hopefully another bakery in the area will be available so close to my event. I don't know whats going on with this business, but its terribly run. I'd steer clear of it and find somewhere else to get a quality cake from. Doug will be the first to tell you (because he did) that no cake I get will be better than his. But at least those other cakes will be delivered. read more

So, I'm sad to say that no longer frequent Patticakes- after being a regular customer of theirs since their first day in business and after recommending them to numerous people. The cakes are fantastic- no doubt. Great flavors, fresh, and fun. But, the service is so poor that it is reminiscent of the infamous Seinfeld, soup Na*i episode. Surly does not even begin to describe it. While I have typically just gone in and bought things- no smile necessary or offered!- I finally had to stop going in after seeing the way other (perhaps, non-regular?), customers were treated. Ask a questions- snappy response. Call to ask for a birthday cake? Snappy response about needing more. Come in for a birthday cake? Snarky, cold response about not keeping things in the case. I don't have a problem with telling people that you don't have the jumbo cupcakes on a particular day, or that you need more notice for cake orders, or that you don't keep cakes in the case on a regular basis- it's just the way those things are said. And, people who come in asking for those things may leave empty handed when just a simple conversation or courtesy might have had them leaving with a dozen fantastic cupcakes. read more

I have read the prior reviews here, and have to disagree completely with the woman who referred to the owner as reminding her of the "soup N#4zzi". Maybe it was a bad day? Maybe she was having a bad day? Not sure, but I will share MY experiences with Patti Cakes, and I have purchased from there on several occasions. First of all, hands down, they have the BEST desserts you could ask for! The cupcakes are phenomenal, and if you have never tried their chocolate pecan pie, you haven't really lived yet! When you go, do yourself a favor and try a cupcake flavor that you normally wouldn't try, perhaps in addition to what you really love. I have purchased a few that I would not choose on a regular basis, just because they LOOKED delicious! Chocolate anything has always been my go-to choice but...Guess what? I am always pleasantly surprised at how much I like the random choices I have made now and again! Secondly, we have had them provide dessert buffets, cupcakes for large gatherings,and various other goodies, and they have never disappointed us in any way! They have gone the extra mile to recommend what might be best to serve a vast array of people, while making sure everyone walks away pleased and happy. That is not an easy thing to do, but somehow, they have never let us down! If you are ever in need of a dessert buffet that is "themed", tell them your ideas, and then LISTEN to their recommendations. They will work with you, schedule with you---basically go above and beyond to make sure you are happy, and your guests are blown away! Last, but certainly not least, presentation is important. They lent us a tower in order to display some of our desserts beautifully! They talked us through how certain desserts should be served so that our guests would enjoy them to the maximum! They helped load the car, ever so carefully!!! They bent over backwards to help us in every way they could! I can honestly say that even when they have been very busy, I have never received anything but fast, friendly service. I have had the pleasure of talking with them in-depth about events I am planning. I have received advice and encouragement that you cannot put a price tag on. I'm sure that the lovely cakes and cupcakes are delicious, but I will never try one. Our daughter and son-in-law are both in the military restating their vows, which has been difficult to plan due to our son-in-laws deployment schedule. Patti Cakes was highly recommended, so I called them about two weeks ago and was told someone would call me back. No one did. So, I sent an email yesterday - no reply, and stopped by today - which was listed as the day to do consultation's between 11:30 and 3:30. We drove to Patti Cakes and got there around 11:30 - closed.... The owner was there so we knocked and he told us it was a holiday week so they were closed. OK, that's reasonable - but update your website as a responsible business. He then was a bit abrupt when I mentioned my email stating "well we are closed, so no one would have seen it" I guess I expect too much from a business, and think that a small business would be more responsive because good responses and service brings in more business. We quickly explained that I had called and he apologized, but did not offer an additional friendly customer service. When we told him we needed cupcakes and a small cake topper for about 20 people he said he doubted he could do it, looked in his book, slammed it shut and said nope - we cannot do it - booked. We were looking for four dozen cupcakes, not 100, and the website clearly states they can handle most last minute requests. Granted, we needed them for the following Sunday and knew it was a longshot, but the way we were treated really was upsetting. Not even a suggestion of what else we can do, just basically - sorry, you're out of luck here. I will never go there or recommend them based on how the owner handled our request. Usually people are more understanding when it involves the military too, since they are the one that makes it so the small business can have an opportunity in a free country. Again, I'm sure the products are delicious, but sometimes a little old fashion GOOD customer service makes things a bit sweeter..... read more
