This historic farm is located in West Granby and is over 300 acres. The land has been farmed on…read moresince 1756. There are trails on the property open to the public, they also offer CSAs (community supported agriculture). They sometimes hosts classes and events. There is a seasonal farm store onsite. The store was lovely; I enjoyed shopping there. There were fresh produce as well as some dairy products, cookies, pickles, and more. They were offering free samples of watermelon in the summer. It's definitely worth a visit once they open again for the season!

The prices are so reasonable for what you're getting and I couldn't have imagined a better place to get married. Jamie was helpful the entire time, even fluffing my train before I walked down the aisle! I cannot recommend the location, venue, and staff enough. They go out of their way, even on busy days, to answer any questions you have about the produce, the farm, or anything else about the area that you want to know. They keep the place looking great all season long (both the "you pick" fields and the indoor store. The most attractive thing about this farm share upon first glance was the great hours. You can go Saturdays from 10-3, and W-F from 1-630PM to pick up your share. These hours are unbeatable compared to other CSAs in Western Mass and they make it easier for busy people with odd work schedules to participate, which I appreciate. I also appreciate that they have THREE farm share sizes to chose from. I strongly recommend getting the largest one, and getting a buddy (or buddies) and sharing it, it is a great deal and a ton of produce! The prices and how everything works is clearly spelled out on their website so you can check it out before you head there. The produce selection is also pretty awesome. We are never bored. My favorite part about farm shares is that it forces you to eat way more vegetables than you probably would otherwise, and it also forces you to be creative with recipes and explore new dishes to cook. The U-Pick component is also a lot of fun, especially if you have kiddos. The current U-Pick selection is quite robust, unlike other farm shares where you just pick a handful of items and you're out. The fresh herbs alone are enough to make the U-pick worth every ounce of sweat required to pick them on a hot summer day. Finally, I must comment on the view. I attached some pictures to make that point. Being at the base of Mt Tom provides beautiful views as you are out in the field picking produce. It definitely makes you stop for a moment, take a deep breath, and smile. I strongly recommend this place!

Brookfield Farm is our CSA…read more What is a CSA, you ask? Community Supported Agriculture. Basically, you pay the farm some cash, and they grow food. Tons and tons of food. Organically. Biodynamically. Locally. Then, they pack up a ton of boxes and send them off to the Boston area, where you can pick up your box. Every week, from June to November, there is a box full of tasty, fresh, local veggies waiting for you. It can't be beat. They are really good with telling you what you are getting (this is particularly helpful for those who are not veggie geeks). They put out a newsletter each week telling you what is new on the farm, what new foods you will see in your box, and they even include recipes. Because now that you have a four-pound bok choy, you need to figure out what to do with it. If you live closer to the farm, you can pick up your food there, and you can stop by for all the pick your own goodies (strawberries, peas, flowers). We will definitely do this again and would recommend it to anyone!

There are usually popsicles involved, and picking berries, and seeing old friends and making new ones. I've been a CSA member with Full Well for 3 years. Being a CSA member has lowered my spend at the grocery store, introduced me to new vegetables (Delicate Squash), and has kept my money in my community. I also have bought a flower CSA as a gift before! If a CSA isn't for you, catch them at the farmer's market or stop by their farm stand. Full Well's arugula, salad mix, and tomatoes are not to be missed. We made a trip out to the farm this summer to "pick your own" and that was definitely worth the drive from Boston. Lots of fresh veggies and flowers all included in the cost of your normal share. Everyone there was very friendly! The only downside to the CSA is the occasional lack of variety. LOTS of greens most of the summer, and heavy on the root veggies in the fall/winter. For the most part it's a good variety, but could mix it up a bit more maybe? Overall a great value and we'll be back next summer for sure!

If you like milk, this is the place to get it. Actually, they have put their milk in many stores now so getting their milk might be as easy as going to a store any where in this area. The milk is taken from Jersey Cows which is not always the case with larger milk companies. Because of this, the milk tastes better as the foods solids within the milk are always present no matter whether it's whole milk or skim. No blue colored milk here! The store itself has some weird hours so call before you go. They also have chocolate milk, strawberry milk and in the winter egg-nog. All of these are to die for!

My kids loved this milk, it's so good it's not even comparable to Hood or Garelick or any other store bought milk. Their ice cream is delicious! They've got a bunch of flavors too, but my favorite is the sweet cream flavor. I highly recommend you stop here for some fresh milk and ice cream!
