Suggested to me as a new popping place, decided to give it a try just because we were in much need of a drink. It was conveniently located in the corner with easy access to a very near parking lot ($5 for parking- good because that was all the cash I had on me that night!) Pattern Bar being that is fairly new to DTLA, wasn't very crowded, we did arrive a bit late and the kitchen was closed =( (Kitchen closes at 10pm). Cocktails fairly priced but opted for my usual vodka soda. Bartenders were quite friendly just not too quick in serving the simple drinks, but with the music playing, it was quite alright to do the wait and scope the gracious scene of good looking people enjoying themselves. (I hope the vive continues to be as I experienced on this night) Pretty chill and cool! I will too create my Pattern at this bar. read more

I dont plan to ever return to this place and will make sure to tell friends not to go here ever. Picked this place because it was close to an event a friend and I were going to,but we should have went elsewhere. The service started out ok,but then the wait staff completely forgot about us and the place wasn't even busy. My friend ordered the Bambino a pastrami panini sandwhich and after 30 mins of waiting for it (still never getting it at this point)we asked for the check. Sat around waiting for the check for an additional 15 mins. Then the waiter finally comes over with the sandwhich and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience or comp the sandwhich that they obviously forgot that we ordered. I apologized to my friend for even suggesting this place. And because we had to do all that waiting around we were running late to our event. Never again will I spend my money here. read more

This place was ass packed on Saturday night with a strange mix of people, including a rude bitch who pushed me into other annoying people. After waiting forever at the bar, I ordered the D Von Furstenberg off their cocktail menu, and our bartender asked another what goes in the drink. I was reassured when the other bartender proceeded to make the drink instead (to no avail). The drink was way too sweet and an insult to DVF. I managed to quickly down half of it and we got the heck out. Added one star for the cute vintage sewing machines and the attempt at making a fashion themed drink list. Overall I was disappointed with the decor/ambiance as well, because I was expecting much more character than just a couple props. Irony is offering a carb-loaded menu for lunch to the fashion crowd. But oh, what carbs. Easily worth blowing one's monthly carb intake on the Urth bread-anchored panini. The Vegetal one was gushing with caramelized onions - almost didn't need the olive oil/herbed spread. The unsweetened ice tea was also delicious. Wonderful experience! My new husband and I recently hosted our wedding reception (more of a fun party, actually) there, and every detail was fantastic. Alex, the co-owner, took such good care of us - we met with him a few months before, about the menu and cocktail offerings, and he was so thoughtful about the details of what our families might like, event timing and flow, florals, everything! He was really committed to making the event a success, and so accessible when we had questions. We really appreciated that he was there the night of the event - making sure things went smoothly (he set aside a plate for my husband and me, since the bride and groom rarely actually get to eat!), and that everyone was having a good time. The bar is beautiful on a normal day, and was gorgeous that night - huge open windows onto 9th and Main, and gorgeous dark wood and thoughtful details everywhere. Our guests are still raving about how delicious the food and drinks were, and we're still raving about how great Pattern Bar is. For a place that's called Pattern Bar, I expected a little more um, pattern. The design was surprisingly bland. The drinks, named after designers, were interesting. For example, why is "The Chanel" made with tequila, cilantro, and serrano pepper? I understand the gran marnier, but Chanel was not Mexican, she was French. Amazing experience and amazing staff! My girlfriend wanted to have her birthday party here for 2 years now. Finally it worked out to where we were able to book. I emailed the place and they responded right away. The person who answered the phone confirmed my reservation and kept me up to date and confirmed. The place has several amazing drinks that any fashionista would love. The Chanel was probably the most popular in our group. We had a birthday cake and all of our friends had a blast. The Pattern Bar's patrons are classy, cool, and the new and existing Who's who in the fashion industry. My friend Michael and I had first-hand experience at this magnificent establishment on July 26, 2014. The staff was made up of HOT male bartenders that would make anyone drool, men and women alike. The bartenders (Clay, Bill, etc.) gave impeccable service without wavering. The owners of the bar (Alex and Eduardo) as well as the staff treated everyone like VIP's and never regarded anyone less than the next customer. Each person was treated like a special guest. The staff was very attentive to each person and drinks were made with care at an amazing pace. The staff always acknowledged everyone standing at the bar even if they weren't being served at that moment. Customers never waited more than five minutes for service. I was so impressed by the care they gave to each person that I decided not to patron any other bar because I enjoyed how they worked. Normally, I never drink more than three drinks at a bar, but the drinks were so tasty that I end up purchasing six drinks and received a free shot from Alex. Ladies and Gentlemen if you want to have a remarkable experience, please leave a weekend or week day night open and make you way to the "Pattern Bar" for a fun filled evening. Parking- It's DTLA, so the best way is to just Uber. Otherwise, you have to hunt for pay lots and street parking. Atmosphere- The place is pretty small. The pictures make it look a bit bigger than it actually is. The Saturday night I went was pretty dead; we probably could have played a game of hockey on the floor without interrupting anyone. I don't know if that was a usual night for them, because it'd be a shame. The space looks fine (though very dim), there's plenty of open ventilation, and the bar is fully manned. Drinks- I only had beer, but their cocktails looked decent. And the prices are pretty good for DTLA. The bartenders are very attentive and they had enough staff despite being a quiet night. This is a far cry from bigger, more popular spots with understaffed bars with employees that don't give a $hit. Overall, I would say Pattern Bar isn't really a destination bar that you plan to go to on a weekend, but it does make for a good stop on a bar hop. In fact, I found it because I refused to pay a $10 cover to Broadway Bar and decided to reward Pattern by turning that into beer money. read more

We stopped in here a few times to close out or start the night becuase it was so close to home. Now it is a destination. The drink menu is great. There are several original drinks that taste great. That, and they are strong. You get your dollars worth. The decor is clean with a little hipster. Not too muc hipster thankfully. The staff is great. They are friendly. Pretty decent bar with open windows which gives it a larger, roomy feel. However, there's no sign so a bit difficult to tell if you're at the right place without asking (why does LA do this?). I went around 9pm on a Saturday after dinner and seats/tables were available. It was super dark inside so couldn't really tell what the decor looked like.. but overall very chill and a good place to catch up with some friends. By 10pm it got pretty crowded and music was turned up and you'd find a few people dancing in their place.. I came here with a group of friends and pretty much it's the company you keep. I have to say the DJ was pretty decent. Really mixed it up the genres of music. This bar is pretty much a corner and one 'wall' just opens up to the street. I enjoy the non stuffy feeling since this place is just really one main bar and room. I found myself just dancing in the middle of this venue. You won't lose friends here when you wander around. The overall crowd of this place is much older. Not what i'm used to. I mean I get the 30 something but I think this was more of the 40 something crowd. I cannot hate on any age group wanting to out and have a good time. There was this one bleached blond 40 something guy who would hover around our group the entire night of our mainly female party. It was kinda comedic. If you plan on having a night out here definitely come with the right friends. Drinks were decent and of course over $10. The norm. The bartenders were actually nice. I didn't have a problem asking for waters nor did they snob you for asking. I enjoy that. There was one cute bartender there and I remember a cute barback/busboy. Pattern Bar was recommended by a friend and I have to concur it was a perfect place to meet with my co-worker and actually have a productive conversation in a classy ambience on a Thursday after work. Not so loud that we were yelling at each other, but not because it was dead and empty. We sat at the bar - there are booths reserved for larger parties, note to self for future networking events. The place is big enough for gatherings of people to have private conversation and still feel part of a social scene. Tapas were tasty - we had the red pepper hummus (selection changes weekly), with warm pita bread, and the Ceviche de Camaron. Wine and cocktails good, love the names such as "The Balenciaga" and "The Valentino" - hip touch for the Fashion District locale. Bar tenders attentive but not seeking attention, if you know what I mean. It was a cold night so instead of walking from the office we drove, and there was a place to park on Ninth Street about a block and half west of the bar that only charged $3. Always a plus for downtown LA. Chill, hip, and right at the heart of dtla. This bar is pretty packed on the weekends with a good mixed crowd. Parking is located around the corner or on the streets. There wasn't a line getting in and what's even better is that there is no cover for admissions. I liked how there is plenty of space to walk around. Such a beautiful space, and in such a wonderful downtown LA location. After a long day of shopping for my bridal shoot, my friend and I decided to stop in here for some food. We came in around 3pm and they advertised on the chalkboard they were serving lunch and appetizers. We were greeted by a host, and he had a major attitude. I thought that attitude changed when he informed us that they were getting ready to change over for "small plates for dinner" When we gazed over the menu, we decided on panini sandwiches. He came back over to us, and told us they put the panini press machines away. So we ordered some small plates. My friend ordered the mini tacos, and I ordered a Venezuelan cachapa. I have not had one of those in so long, so I was excited to try it here. When our plates came, I was expecting much more, even though they said "small plates" for $9 my cachapa was three inches long. It was so small, that in two large bites, it was gone. How disappointing and how much does it cost to make a regular size. I would go up to Washington Heights in NY and pay $9 for an extra large plate about 12 inches long of a corn pancake! Ugh how upsetting. I guess I would only come to this sort of place for drinks.
