Delicious food! Tried restaurant because of a TikTok recommendation. Suggest you call and reserve your order as they run out. Ordered the small portion of Eggplant tempura. It came with rice and either macaroni salad or corn. Eggplant was so crispy and their original dipping sauce is too die for. It felt like I was eating shrimp tempura. Such a perfect combination. During my October visit to Maui, I came across photos of Patsy's Food on Activity feed page, after checking out the Yelp page, I had Patsy's bookmarked. I took the advice of Maui's CM Maria and made sure I visit this November trip. I asked the hubby to take me, although he said it was a little farther out since we had a few more stops to go before we leave my favorite island, but he happily took me here. Patsy's started from out as a food truck, now to cute little shop. I met and spoke to Marisa, she is super friendly and got to learn more about Patsy's Food. The cute photo is Grandma Patsy's her food, sauces legacy ,continues on here at Patsy's Food. The menu is very simple, ( about 5-6 items) & the special of the day. This way the cook which is Marisa's husband can focus on those dishes! I wanted to know what's popular and Marisa mentioned in this order: chicken tempura, chicken katsu & the donburi. I'm sure all of them are all popular! Since I already have some other foods that I picked up along the way and wanted to try the signature chicken tempura bites, I got a plate of that with all rice, no sides and got a bottle of the spicy sauce. I can't wait to use that! We ate the food at the airport and I loved it, the tempura batter is so soft, not as crispy since we didn't eat it right away and taste so unique. I never had tempura with chicken, ever. I loved dipping the chicken tempura in that sauce, so yummy! ( dip, eat with rice, repeat. repeat..) This is the cutest little lunch spot in Wailuku! It's located across the street from Four Sisters Bakery. Parking can be a bit challenging but I found parking right in front. There are five 4-person tables inside. The service is super friendly and quick. I got the mini Okinawa Shoyu pork which was amazing! The pork was so tender and flavorful. I can honestly say this sweet local couple provide sweet service paired with delicious food that so far hasn't disappointed. I can count on them to whip out the goods. Recently after picking up our take out, we discovered they have junior bites. We came back to try their chicken tempura Junior bites only $5. Patsy's is my favorite comfort food. I've been a customer since their food truck days, and so happy their new location is close by with expanded weekend days/hours. My favorite is the ono katsu, but it's currently a special that appears sporadically. Our go-to's on the regular menu are chicken tempura bites, eggplant tempura and beef stew. The chicken katsu donburi and Okinawa should pork are amazing too. We love everything on the limited menu because it's done well. The food is fresh, tasty, consistent and perfectly portioned. My brother has been picking up from Patsy's Lunch Wagon for years! This time around I got a chance to go directly to the food truck parked in the Pacific Pipe parking lot. Marissa was so friendly and Michael's cooking skills are so amazing. I loved the tempura chicken bites and enjoyed the Okinawan Shoyu pork special on Wednesday so much. The pork was marinated so well and the tempura batter was perfection! Portions were generous enough to share. This was more than enough for 3 people to be satisfied. I went with the latter. MENU: Just five local-style dishes and a daily special in either mini or regular sizes. Various versions of chicken, pork and a beef stew. FOOD: Tempura Chicken Bites I've had many-a-shrimp tempura but never done with chicken!? This was an easy decision as the pics looked so scrumptious and an excellent choice as the dish rocked. Genius! Ten big chunks of chicken were coated in a smooth, creamy batter and deep-fried to golden goodness. Eating them plain was good, but dipping them in the included sweet-savory soy-based sauce took it to the moon! I wish I could've tried their mac salad but instead chose corn as my side as I'm trying to cut down on carbs. I shared my plate with two friends and they really enjoyed it as well, even wanting more info so they could visit in the future. Very generous portion for the price. Highly recommended! How is there not more reviews of this place? If you're looking for a hearty meal "just like grandma" would make, then Patsy's Lunchwagon is for you. Their menu consists of good ol' local kine comfort food that is consistent and doesn't break the bank. Seriously, where can you find a plate lunch that is $6 these days, but still absolutely delicious? It's slim pickings around here! I've been a few times now and I must say, the tempura chicken bites are ACTION. It's crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. The sauce that it comes with just knocks it out of the park. It's a popular menu item and if you don't get there early enough, they sell out! Speaking from experience here... it was sad times. I've also tried their mochiko pork and the beef stew. The mochiko pork was flavorful and moist on the inside. The beef stew was also the perfect thing to eat on a cold, rainy day. I always opt for the mini plates which I find are the perfect size meal for me. Did I mention it's only $6? I'm usually just a meat and rice kinda girl and don't normally eat all the 'extras' that dishes come which makes the mini plates perfect for me. If you get the regular size plate lunches, it comes with 2 scoops of rice and a choice of mac salad or green salad. Highly recommend stopping by their food truck! The tempura chicken is so crispy! There's a crunch in every bite. Paired well with the corn and scoop rice. Garlic Ono Katsu is SO ONO. Have you ever burned your mouth trying to take a bite and still kept chewing because the food was so good? That's how fresh, hot and delicious food it is. The chicken tempura bites were crunchy and moist and the sauce (which I thought tasted like my spam musubi sauce) went very well with the chicken bites. Patsy's is a great food truck that reminds of days gone past. It reminds me of the brown paper on around the plates and the old school okazuya style food I grew up with. Their mochiko pork is crispy and tender in the inside. Their tempura chicken bites is our go to dish! My favorite dish hands down. I teach all wek and can only get to their truck on days off.
