They also have a solid drink menu, although you'll usually need to ask for it. The chips and salsa are a must, but here's a pro tip: the regular red salsa can be a little bland on its own. Ask for the hot green salsa, mix in a spoonful or two with the red salsa (and add a little salt if you'd like), and it completely transforms it. Service is generally outstanding. Like any restaurant, there are occasional ups and downs, but in all the years we've been coming here, I can't remember encountering a single unfriendly staff member. One thing that consistently impresses me is how incredibly fast the food comes out, even when they're busy. The owner is also a tremendous supporter of local youth sports, especially baseball, which is something our family appreciates. Because of that support, don't be surprised if you see big crowds during tournament weekends. I'm familiar with Mexican American food, a little bit with truly authentic Mexican, and not at all with Salvadoran. Chef Joseph came out from behind the counter and sat at my table explaining the menu to me, the dishes, the flavor profiles. He gave suggestions on what order based on what I told him I liked. I got one of the combo dishes mainly because it offered a variety of proteins and side dishes. I also saw several more items in the menu that I knew I wanted to try on my next visit. It's a traditional cold weather drink made with masa harina, milk, and spices. My tia made it when I was a kid, so there's fond memories.
