100% unreliable! I waited for a call for my appointment this morning for 4 hours. They still have not called.

We had an estimate from the owner but wanted a second opinion. The second company informed us that Patriot's recommended fix actually violates code. The owner made no attempt to place a cloth down or cover my floors as he was inspecting the fireplace. He did not provide an inspection report. He did email his estimate that same day, so that was good. read more

3/7/2023: At this point in time their communication via email, phone call, text and website have been less than satisfactory. They have held our $4897.00 deposit since 10/14/2022. In December our old chimney liner was removed, some stone/brick were cut, but they have not returned and left a partial job that is getting tough to look at everyday. We were told our materials were not yet available in December. In January we were told that our materials have shipped. It's been almost two months since. We have attempted every form of communication without success. I have now escalated this to the Better Business Bureau of Roanoke for assistance. We only want the job done or at this point our deposit returned. We have tried to give Patriot every opportunity, however when they are sitting on 5 grand of your money and an incomplete job it is getting infuriating. Will update rating as appropriate, but right now 1/5 stars. 3/17/23: still no communication with Patriot. They have made no attempt, to my knowledge, at communicating. DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO THIS COMPANY. THEY CLEARLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR WORK, CUSTOMERS, OR INTEGRITY!!!!! 3/20/23: on March 7 I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Western Virginia. I talked to them today in which they said they have reached out twice and have not been able to communicate with patriot. Do not hire this company. They will leave you high and dry with incomplete jobs. After a chimney inspection they recommended we change our gas log set. We followed their recommendation on type and size set and purchased it from them. It would shut off by itself randomly. They came out once and were not able to fix it. The owner then came out and took it apart, fiddled with it, then told us he would be back the next day to put it back together. That was months ago and despite calls, messages, text messages, emails, and finally a BBB complaint, NOTHING. They basically ghosted us. Now we have to start all over again with another company. The day of the first appointment the technician called me in the morning and said he can't make it after waiting 3 weeks for the appointment , they rescheduled me two days later the next technician shows up tells me he can do the work and that he'll be back in 3 weeks . So that's 2 months just to get some work from these guys . Absolute clown shoes . If you need real work done with time being of the essence don't call these guys , I know it's too busy season, but to show up to somebody's house to not do any work is a travesty . read more

I too liked the idea of supporting a veteran owned business but it wasn't the greatest experience. In the end it all worked out, but it took a bit to get there. We scheduled an appointment and got a confirmation online. 2 days later, no one showed up which was frustrating but I've learned lots of businesses out here have difficulty showing up or showing up on time, answer emails, or even answer the phone, so I wasn't too surprised. 2 days later, we got a text from the business saying the next appointment available is in about 10 days, so we took it. A "sorry we didn't show and you had to wait at home for nothing" would've been nice. The guy who showed up was very polite and was a genuinely nice person so no issue there. We had requested an inspection on 2 wood fireplaces since we've never had a fireplace before and recently bought the house. He shined a flashlight up the chimney for about 30 seconds on each one and said they look good. Then, like with most people in this area, we chatted about our families and everything else for the next 20 minutes or so. The next day we got the bill for a "level 1 inspection" on 2 flues for $265. The bill also said we'd receive a detailed report which we didn't get. I used the online contact form and after a week there was no reply so I called and Laura said an inspection wasn't done so she will cancel the bill. Again, the end result was very fair, but it took a bit to get there. Why did I receive a bill in the first place for 2 inspections if they were not done? And a "sorry we charged you for work that wasn't done" would have also been nice. I think they need a little help on their organizational skills. read more

Made an appointment to get a cap/vent put on my fireplace chimney. Setting up the appointment went great. They came in the timeframe they said they would. They came to inspect my fireplace and chimney as well as measure for the cap/vent. I didn't want an inspection but I said sure why not and paid 150 for it. The guy was very friendly and knowledgeable. Answered all my questions. He left and was going to send me an estimate for some work that needs done. Currently it's been 8 days. No estimate. I called a few times and they claim to send the tech that came out a message about it. Still no estimate. I called a day ago to talk to the manager or boss of the business. Claimed he was out working and needed to call me back. It's been over 24 hours and no call. I called today (day of this review) and they tell me the same thing and that the boss or manager person will call me back. He is out working. They started off so strong and couldn't stick the landing. Your luck may vary from mine when using this company. Update (01/31/23) The person in charge quickly emailed me and gave me the estimates after posting this review. He explained and I understood. It came down to poor communication and tech issue. (Allegedly). The person in charge offered to refund the forced inspection money. 150. And a discount on work done through them. The person in charge said to email him going forward. So I did. This was last Friday morning. Today Tuesday I had emailed 3 times since Friday. Asking what to do about the refund and when will it happen. No answer. I emailed another email and texted a number that sent me links to review them. Someone answered the text and got me an answer. I guess the person in charge, Matt, is just terrible at communication unless it's in response to bad reviews. Like I said originally. You luck may vary with this company. Update ( 02/06/23) It's been over a week since they said the refund was mailed out. I have no refund. Matt the owner who said to email him hasn't emailed me back. I've emailed about 6-8 times. I've called I've emailed other emails at this company. I've responded to a text that previously someone replied to me at. Nothing. Left a phone message this morning. Got no reply. This company doesn't communicate. I don't know how they are still in business. Terrible company. Update (02/07/23) After multiple emails and calls. Texting Matt's number and messaging the company on Facebook Matt or someone replies to me on Facebook. Not with an apology for the lack of communication. Not with any type of proper response. The person says ,and I'm paraphrasing, "we sent it a week ago. We don't know nothing. I'll send a tech to your house with a new check so We Can Be Done With It" I'm sorry that you are inconvenienced by your own doing Matt. Hopefully the check clears. But this company is the worst at communication. I can't speak for their work cause they have lost my business completely. Be wary of this company. read more

We were never sent the quotes, despite multiple conversations with reception informing them that we had not received them. It has now been over a month with no word.
