Said he would get an estimate to you in a day or two. Nothing. Wouldn't respond to text, phone. Don't waste your time on contractors who can't do business with common courtesy. Got to the bathroom upstairs and...well...no one was there. That was odd. I went outside to see if the sprinklers were on and they were so, i turned them off. Problem solved. Went back to bed but the noise was still there. That noise you hear when showers, sprinklers, toilets, and anything else that has water through it, is on. It was getting louder. Went back into my bathroom only to see water filling up on the floor! Uh oh. Found the problem. Busted pipe under the floor. Turned off the main line and went to bed, hoping i could find a plumber the next day. Called a couple of plumbers and left messages. Bulldawg had voicemail and gave me the option of texting. I texted and left a message. Texted me right back. Asked me a couple of qualifying questions and said he'd be there at 2:00 that same day. Was right on time. Saw immediately what the problem was. Was professional. Was thorough. Was efficient and was fair. Also didn't mind my dogs in the house! (I think they are dog friendly plumbers!) If you've got something broken and need it fixed, call them if you want it done right, on time and on budget.

I can't say enough good things about Jason and Red, White, and Dirt Excavation & Concrete. From the…read morestart, it's clear that Jason runs his work with structure and precision--he has a clear process, and it shows in the results. He recently helped me in Cottonwood, CA with a big project: removing an old, dilapidated house from my property. Jason handled it quickly, systematically, and left the area remarkably clean. The efficiency and attention to detail were outstanding. Now he's preparing the soil for concrete, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the progress. Before hiring Jason, I got several quotes for this project. His pricing was very fair, reasonable, and competitive compared to others. Combine that with his reliability, showing up on time, and following through exactly as promised, and choosing him was an easy decision. On top of that, Jason is just a genuinely good guy--friendly, authentic, and easy to work with. I'm beyond satisfied with the job he's done so far and will absolutely continue working with him in the future. Highly recommend Jason and his team to anyone in need of excavation or concrete work.

His bid was fair and broken down into all elements of the required work. He also assisted us in getting the County to repair the approach road so he could get his equipment onto our property. Because I live out of state, Jason sent photos every day with updates and progress reports. He did an excellent job resurfacing and grading internal driveways, and installing and reinforcing several 20ft drainage culverts. Jason is a pleasure to work with, and I highly recommend Red White and Dirt Excavating Company .

Really, really disappointed in the service I received today for a quote from Earl's and their…read moreplumber, Paul E. I called because of a leaky faucet handle and spoke with someone from their call center. The representative I spoke with was honestly one of the nicest customer service people I've ever talked to -- the few stars I gave are for them and them alone. I scheduled a 10 a.m.-12 p.m. window to have the leak checked and get a quote. I let my boss know I'd need to step away from work during that time and even offered to use my lunch break so I wouldn't miss additional time on a personal matter. I kept my phone right in front of me the entire morning -- and waited... and waited... and waited. When noon rolled around, I called customer service. The agent told me I had received a call and voicemail saying my window had been changed to 1-3 p.m. I hadn't received any call, voicemail, or text -- which I thought I would have at least gotten, since I did get a text confirming the original appointment. The agent didn't seem to care or believe me, and tried to rush me off the phone but first I asked her to confirm my number, and have the plumber text when he was on his way so I wouldn't miss him. Then I had to rearrange my lunch break again and get approval to leave work for a second time. At about 1:40 p.m., the plumber texted saying he'd arrive at 2. He showed up at 2:20. Great. I ended up getting back to work 30 minutes late from my lunch. When Paul arrived, I showed him the leak and explained that we rent -- so if it wasn't expensive, I'd just pay for it myself, but if it was, I'd need to contact the landlord. Paul asked, "Well, what do you consider expensive?" I just stared for a second, because I figured he should be the one telling me that. Then he asked, "How much can you -- or are you willing -- to pay to get it done?" Like I was on The Price Is Right. Not wanting to play the guessing game, letting him know I know absolutely nothing about plumbing or the cost I said, "I don't know, maybe $100?" He scoffed, looked at his tablet, and said, "$100? I don't have a single thing on this whole tablet for $100." I asked, "Okay, how much will it cost then?" Finally, he quoted nearly $300. I asked if I could make a quick phone call, and he said, "What are you going to phone a friend?" Excuse me? I explained I needed to talk to my husband because we have a budget. After my husband and I spoke, we decided the cost was too high for something that might fall under our landlord's responsibility. I told Paul we'd contact our landlord to handle it. He said, "So call him right now." I explained we hadn't notified the landlord of the leak yet, that we just discovered it and he'd want to inspect it himself first. Paul seemed visibly annoyed, took his iPad, headed to the door, didn't look at me and said have a nice day and left. I was honestly flabbergasted. This was my first time calling a plumber over something like this, and it felt like every "mechanic-as-a-woman" warning come to life -- being treated like I didn't know what I was talking about and ready to be taken advantage of financially. The irony is, I've had better experiences with actual mechanics, even the ones who might've been trying to upsell me were at least friendly. At first, I wasn't going to leave a review. Things happen; people have bad days. I didn't lose anything but time. But here I am -- why? Because I ended up fixing the leak myself after watching a couple of YouTube videos and buying a $15 tool. The plumber wanted to charge me $270 to replace an entire faucet system for no reason other than to take my money and act like I was wasting his time. And just to be clear, this was only supposed to be a quote. The phone rep even said that no work would be done unless we agreed on a price first. Unfortunately, what I got instead was a wasted day, a rude plumber, and a bad taste in my mouth. To wrap it up: Earl's might have a great call center, but my experience with their field service -- specifically Paul E. -- was frustrating, dismissive, and overpriced. If this is how they handle quotes, I can't imagine trusting them for a full repair.

I just finished up a three-phase septic/D-box project with Davis Excavating. The first part…read moreinvolved pulling the lid of the septic tank, pulling a root mass, sealing the lid/tank joint and backfilling. The second part was replacement of the D-box and a portion of the manifold. This work was perfectly executed. Then came the tricky part. Significant root intrusion had occurred downstream, at the manifold/infiltrator connections. Only four of the five lines were taking effluent. We field-engineered a new connection strategy for the uppermost infiltrator run which gave us two active lines and most importantly bought time. I engineered a new connection scheme using old and new infiltrator chambers. Raul advised me on how to work with the County to modify the permit. Raul then came back to the site, excavated the old chambers, fit the new and made the manifold connections. Then backfilled and graded to landscaping standards. Outcomes like this are only possible when you are working with a top-line professional. On top of this, the pricing was very fair. Surprises from septic systems are never fun, but when you have a resource like Davis Excavating, you can tackle the problem knowing you are going to get the best result. Robert Weber, P.E.
