When I started looking for a contractor to demo and remove our second story deck I had no idea that all I needed to do is contract Patrick Miller Construction and that I would be so delightfully pleased! Adriaan came to our home the next day and gave us an estimate quickly. We were very comfortable with him. Instead of feeling like he wanted to sell us something, we felt like he was genuine in his efforts to help us. He came to our home several times during the project to make sure it started, was progressing, and finished properly. The crew did a great job! They were very meticulous, took care of our property, and cleaned up when they left. Deck is gone....not a sliver left in our yard! Patrick delivered the dumpster the day before and took it away the next morning on a Saturday! Our neighbors had their roof replaced by another company and the dumpster was left in their driveway for over a week! I regret hiring them to build a screened in porch. The quality of work is poor. Parts of the construction are failing less than two years after construction. The roof already leaks and they say they'll try to fix it if we sign a new contract with them. They say it's ice dams but cannot explain why the leaks occurred when there was neither ice nor snow near the seam they say is leaking. The exterior door repeatedly sagged and could not be opened. They came out to fix the door this summer (after many phone calls over a period of months) and nailed a big plywood board over the screen door to strengthen it - that's the permanent solution. The current door and frame are still both visibly crooked. It looks completely unprofessional and we feel like we're going to need to hire another professional to have the door reframed and replaced. The porch was not built according to the original agreement. We paid for helical screw pilings, but Miller Construction switched to cheaper concrete pilings without any notification, did not offer a refund for the difference in cost, and would not talk to us during construction to discuss the situation despite repeated requests. We paid for insulation throughout the addition, but the building was not framed to allow space for insulation in many sections of the room, so we have an addition that is only partially insulated. The communication with Miller Construction has always been poor. We've had multiple promises to call or come out to look at the various issues, but the promises are rarely kept. For the first few months after contracting with us, communication was so lacking we seriously questioned whether the company had run off with the initial payment. They hadn't, but they didn't reach out to us until months later when a crew showed up at the house unannounced. I wouldn't hire them again. read more

My husband and I cannot be any happier with our experience working with Patrick Miller Construction. Our NE Minneapolis 1950's rambler was in desperate need of some TLC (doors, windows, siding, fascia, soffit, garage doors etc) little to say it was a large job. From initial estimate to our final payment, Dave was a pleasure to work with. Always punctual and organized, an excellent communicator, he helped us feel at ease about our first big home improvement. All the different crew members that came and went over the course of the project were friendly, efficient, and went above and beyond ( we had our doors custom painted) they cleaned up well after working everyday which we really appreciated. Damien the project coordinator kept us up to date during the work on when different steps would be happening, whether via e mail, text, or a phone call, he was sure to keep us in the know. I submitted an open bid through several sources to reface a two level deck. Patrick Miller Construction Inc. was one of the companies that responded first. I had sent some detailed information through email. Patrick responded almost immediately that he wanted to come out and review the proposed project and we set up an appointment for the next day. Patrick did a through examination of the current decks and provided me an estimate for the deck remodel that same day. After some clarifications, he came out again and did a through review of the revised estimate. I thought his recommendation for products to use was throughly thought out based on his experience with his vendors. I signed the contract that day. I was informed by the project manager, Ben, that the materials were on order and it would take about 2 weeks for them to be delivered. Sure enough they started the work, on the date promised. The lead carpenter throughly understood the project and directed the workers through the demolition and rebuild. The crew worked through some blazing heat and humidity to progress on the project. The lead carpenter's attention to detail was amazing. Repairing the underlying structure to the installation of the new material was done with ultimate craftsmanship. The end result was beyond my expectations. So from initial contact through project completion was less than a month. All my contacts with the workers were positive and helpful. I will definitely use Patrick Miller Construction for all my future home repair and remodel needs. read more

Be wary of this company and promises they make. We signed a contract with the owner and a saleperson present. They told us about a very skilled person who would do the job. I started work on our house, preparing for the project. Then they suddenly backed out of the contract, saying they had underbid it and the worker who was supposed to do the job wouldn't do it. The only way they would continue to work with us is by substantially raising the price of the job. They claimed their signed contract was unenforceable.
