No! No! No! Unsupervised crews, not held accountable. Damaged property. And walked away with no recourse. Doesn't matter if a company is bonded or insured, so don't get caught in this judicial nightmare. Just avoid, and beware. Could have been a great outcome, it wasn't. And ALL of the vendors work very closely with them, and won't take a stand either. They all make money off each other. And Hardie, has been unresponsive to a failed siding install. No! No! No! Just don't. And get an attorney first, to write your own contracts for your project. If you don't, you'll need to hire one anyways! read more

I would recommend Craftsmans Choice to anyone looking to have this kind of work done. They have done siding on our house and garage, put in windows and doors, and talked me out of work that we didn't need. I absolutely love this business. The prices are competitive. And the work they do is wonderful. Most importantly, they have never tried to upsell me on anything. We had people come and look at our ratty garage and recommend heated floors, and more fancy stuff. CC said, "it doesn't look like you use your garage much. Why don't you focus on bringing some of the nice features of your house back to their original state and on things that you will notice more than your garage." They saw the beauty in our house and enhanced it rather than trying to talk us into turning the house into something it isn't -- and that we don't particularly want it to be. read more

True customer service! We had a new roof and gutters with shields put on by them 12 years ago, and all has been fine. We live in a wooded area, and at some point a branch had damaged part of a 28 foot section of the gutters, bending the gutter and gutter guard which keeps debris out. I noticed this when clearing leaves and debris off the roof. I gave them a call, hoping that I could get by with just replacing this one section. One of their guys came out (forget the name), started inspecting flashing and other things and I started to dread the list of all the wrong things he was going to find. After a few minutes, he told me that everything else looks good, and that he could straighten the gutter, straighten the guard, and secure it better. He did this.. took maybe total of 20 minutes. When I asked what the cost was, he told me no charge. Cannot even tell that the gutter had been damaged. Can't get better service and care than that. Highly recommended read more

What better can you say about a contractor who shows up on time, on budget, and gets the details right, then does a stellar clean-up job afterwards? I worked with Matt E. on a project making some renovations to my duplex in Uptown. Install 3 new windows, brace them, add new shelving, new cabinet doors, and fix the track on the sliding door that has been the bane of my existence since I moved here. Top-quality work. I usually don't give 5-star reviews, but they were top-notch, and I couldn't find a thing to beeoych and moan about. We had them replace both our siding and roofing during the fall of 2017. They were a pleasure to work with. They pointed out issues that other contractors missed, making them far more thorough, all while being highly competitive. For example, they properly reattached a screened porch on stilts which had only been nailed to the house, fixing a safety issue of which I had been unaware. We had a tight deadline for getting the work done, which they met. We had them replace our siding first, and following a very positive experience, we hired them to replace our roof also. I had Craftsman's choice out to provide an estimate for new James Hardie siding. Mike from Craftsman's choice showed up on time, took the time to listen to what I was looking for, provided sample colors, and wrote up a comprehensive bid that contained their proposal and the methods they will use to install the siding. The bid I received is very reasonable for the quality work compared to bids I received from other siding companies. Mike did leave me with a list of jobs that Craftsman's choice had completed. I did go out an view several of their jobs and it looks like it is quality work. If you need siding I highly recommend getting a bid from Craftsman's choice. read more

Our neighborhood were the victims of the horrible storm that came through in Blaine, spring of 2017. Craftsmans Choice was highly recommended and so we went ahead and signed the contract. Our biggest regret ever. They started middle of November 2018 and assured us that they will work through the cold weather and finish within 2-3 weeks. The roofing crew were smokers and left cigarette buds all around our house. It took them about 5 days from start to finish. Our roof is extra steep and we have no access and do not plan to inspect it. We hope and pray that their quality of work is not reflected in their daily smoking habits and disrespect for leaving their cigarette buds all around our house. On to the siding project which was a huge nightmare. The contractors showed up the first two days and appeared to be working diligently. The third day was a no show. The fourth day was a no show either. I called the project manager to let him know. He appeared to be surprised that no one has showed up for the past two days. Keep in mind that this was in the dead winter. The siding was partially exposed. We had horrible winds blowing the plastic tyvek on the side of the house. My husband and I was up every night from the flapping noise. The contractor called me back and said that the contractor didn't show up for work because his wife's car had broken down and they didn't have a car to come to work. After the fifth day, the contractor showed up for work. The contractor showed up the sixth and seventh day. On the eighth day, the contractor was a no show. I called the project manager to let him know. Again, he was shocked but said he will get back to me. Later that day, the project manager called me back to inform me the contractor had a death in the family and had to leave the country. The project manager apologized and said that they will send out a new team. It took almost two weeks for them to send out a new team. The new contractors showed up for work. The first day, the contractors blew a fuse, nothing got done, and left for the rest of the day. I came home from work and noticed that all our appliances was shut off. I called my husband, he had to come home and reset the fuse and all of our appliances. He was not happy. I called the project manager again. I explained to him to let the contractors know not to use the outdoor outlet because it does not have enough voltage for their power tools. He said ok, he will let them know. The contractors showed up on the second day. They used the outdoor outlet and blew out the fuse again! I was home that day so the contractor came and knocked on the door and apologized. I told him that my husband is not home so I have no idea how to reset the fuse box. The contractor said he could help reset the box. Which he did. So that day, they were able to get some siding done. The third day, the contractors showed up. Of course they used the outdoor outlet and blew the fuse again. I called the project manager and let him know that they need to bring their own power source or figure something out because Ive had it with them tripping my fuse box. The contractors left that day with nothing being done. The next day the contractors showed up and ran their own power and started work. Every day for tthe next two weeks they showed up and got a little done at a time. After about four months, going on to March 2018, it finally appeared as though the contractors were finished. Except they missed some things and did a horrible job. I called and texted the project manager to let him know. No response. So, all summer, about six month six later, middle of October, the project manager showed up and said that they have an inspection scheduled with the city. I expressed my dismay with their service and the quality of the work. The project manager came out the next day to fix the issues himself. The contractors missed a few sidings by the garage doors, the same for the back side of the garage. He assured me that it's covered under the warranty. That is no consolation for the horrible experience we endured. I would never recommend this company. read more

We had a few windows replaced in our back room and put on new siding with Craftsman Choice and it was smooth and professional all the way through. The sales guy was really nice, helpful and patient as we made our selections. But more importantly, the guys who did the work were too (and who knows, once you sign the contract, right?). The people here doing the work were nice and friendly and cleaned up each night. the work was completed on time. The bidding process, too, was super clear. I understood all aspects of the job and there were no surprises to the bill (except for permitting fee, which was imposed by the city). This company gets top billing from me. We have had Craftsman's Choice do three separate jobs over the last several years. They have never disappointed us. They are extremely helpful in making the right decisions as far as materials and colors. Gave great suggestions with no pressure. Estimates were right on with no surprises. Crew was always on time, professional, polite and always neat, leaving the area clean. The siding, roof, and most recently windows were top quality. Each job was followed up with a final walkthrough, making sure we were happy and knew how to operate the new windows. Even pointed out scratches we might not have noticed and repaired quickly. We had Craftsman's Choice complete a Hardie siding job as well as a couple of windows. From the beginning, we were impressed with the company. Ben is great - professional, personable, knowledgeable, honest. He listened to what we wanted and needed, had excellent recommendations, talked through everything we needed to know, gave us a timely and fair bid, and provided all the unique details we wanted itemized. The job was completed on budget and on time. The crew was also professional and provided quality work. Ben made sure that we were happy with all aspects of the job - he personally checked in with us and listened to everything we had to say and made sure we were 125% happy with the job. He even tolerated our more-than-crazy dogs. Long after the job was completed and we needed follow-up repairs on the job (due to our own fault) the service provided was far above and beyond anything I would have expected.
