They were very meticulous, took care of our property, and cleaned up when they left. Deck is gone....not a sliver left in our yard! Patrick delivered the dumpster the day before and took it away the next morning on a Saturday! Our neighbors had their roof replaced by another company and the dumpster was left in their driveway for over a week! I regret hiring them to build a screened in porch…read more The quality of work is poor. Parts of the construction are failing less than two years after construction. The roof already leaks and they say they'll try to fix it if we sign a new contract with them. They say it's ice dams but cannot explain why the leaks occurred when there was neither ice nor snow near the seam they say is leaking. The exterior door repeatedly sagged and could not be opened. They came out to fix the door this summer (after many phone calls over a period of months) and nailed a big plywood board over the screen door to strengthen it - that's the permanent solution. The current door and frame are still both visibly crooked. It looks completely unprofessional and we feel like we're going to need to hire another professional to have the door reframed and replaced. The porch was not built according to the original agreement. We paid for helical screw pilings, but Miller Construction switched to cheaper concrete pilings without any notification, did not offer a refund for the difference in cost, and would not talk to us during construction to discuss the situation despite repeated requests. We paid for insulation throughout the addition, but the building was not framed to allow space for insulation in many sections of the room, so we have an addition that is only partially insulated. The communication with Miller Construction has always been poor. We've had multiple promises to call or come out to look at the various issues, but the promises are rarely kept. For the first few months after contracting with us, communication was so lacking we seriously questioned whether the company had run off with the initial payment. They hadn't, but they didn't reach out to us until months later when a crew showed up at the house unannounced. I wouldn't hire them again.

Before contacting Tradition, I received an estimate from one of "those" kind of roofing companies - You know the type, the ones that come by and leave a business card if your door and when you ask them to check out your roof they, of course, say you need and entirely new roof. When Scott Landa (who, in the interest of full disclosure, is the husband of a former coworker) came out to take a look at my roof he had an entirely different, and thankfully less expensive, opinion. After a quick repair, Scott was able to fix the area of my roof that I was concerned about. As he was leaving, I asked if I needed a new roof. Scott's answer was no. I not only appreciated Scott's professionalism, but also his honesty. I'm sure he would have loved to put an entirely new roof on my home, but it wasn't needed and he was able to accurately assess the situation and didn't rip me off. When the time comes that I do need a new roof, I'll be giving Tradition Roofing and Exteriors a call.

Our chose a custom remodel for our 1920's Minneapolis bungalow and our input on every detail was taken seriously and incorporated. The complete remodel includes: walk-in tiled shower with a window (yea!), a non-skid shower pan, and grab bars, new custom cabinets, new toilet, sink and heated tile floor. Signed a contract and paid 1/3 of total cost down payment on 5/17. I was told the project would only take a few weeks. The windows needed to be installed before siding, but there were multiple delays getting windows measured, ordered, delivered. Windows were finally delivered to our house on 7/22. The skylight/roof was fixed on 7/26. Window crew was slow and sloppy. Windows were "done" in a few days in early August, but then they took weeks to get the trim installed. One bright spot was the siding crew. Walter and crew tore off the old siding and wrapped the house in a day. They also paid attention to details like light fixtures, wiring, etc., and changed out some siding after I changed my mind about a minor detail. They also returned flower pots and other landscaping items when finished. They even came out on a Sat. to install new gutters. Most of the work was done in by mid-August, but it took until October to finish a few details. We had a new front door installed, pole wrapped, etc. Once they were done(over 5 months later), they tried to charge us for the windows twice(maybe a mistake, but the siding price was as much as the windows/siding original estimate), and also charged us for multiple items they said were covered. Get it in writing, I guess.
