The Yelp picture #10 of 40 is our old home in Hoffman Estates. Our house was hit by a tornado while we were out of town for a family wedding and 5 day extended vacation. We had no idea what had happened until we came home very late Friday night to find our house dark, our yard destroyed, trees and fences down, and half the siding gone. It honestly looked like the place had been hit by a small plane. In any case, I called several electricians in the area but Patrick was the ONLY one willing to help us immediately. He came on a Sunday and got our electrical restored to the house. He did such a beautiful job it was a genuine improvement aesthetically as well as functionally. The total repairs for all the tornado damage were a long and difficult process, but at least we had the good fortune to find Patrick to start us off. He gave us hope we'd make it through the whole ordeal. Good honest people, excellent service. Here's a fun fact - here we are 15 years later in a different home that got hit by twin tornadoes in 2023. I've used Patrick Electrical Service two different time. The first was to run three new outlets to a newly built dry bar for small appliance hookup. They ran new conduit from our main electrical box and rewired some existing electrical to bring everything in the dry bar on the same breaker. They were professional, timely and cost effective. They explained what they were going to do before doing it, which I appreciated. The second time, during a late summer storm on a Sunday night, we had lighting strike an outside pathway light, which caused all of our pool equipment and a gazebo to lose power. Any pool owners will appreciate that it's a very timely matter when pool equipment isn't running (pool chemical balancing...etc). Patrick Jr answered my call on a Sunday night. He came out the next morning and troubleshot the entire problem in a few hours, boiling the problem down to a wiring short within the electrical wiring of our gazebo. Patrick Jr was extremely accommodating and again, as my first experience with them, explained everything that he was troubleshooting. We heard a buzzing noise in our house so I checked each breaker one by one. After still hearing the buzzing I shut off the main breaker which cut power to the entire house. The buzzing noise then stopped so I knew it was an electrical problem. Then I tried to reset the main breaker but it wouldn't turn back on. Now not having power to the entire house I panicked and checked Yelp and found Patrick Electrical. So professional! So affordable! Patrick Electric took my job very seriously, even though it was a small job of the installation of 3 can lights. They went out of their way to do the necessary research, asked questions to make sure the job was done satisfactory. The rep that did the actual job was very respectful! He was promptly on time.. I chose Patrick after seeing great reviews and I wish I could have used them but they never gave me the opportunity. I attempted to start a project at the beginning of November with them. They have never once followed up or initiated contact with me over the course of three months and my last messages were left with no reply. I requested a consultation to have my house rewired. It took two weeks of bugging him to show up. I even offered to find someone else but he said he would come. He seemed very knowledgeable and I was excited that we'd finally found someone who could help. We have been having strange electrical issues for a few years now and it's a serious problem at this point. We got to discussing the issues and he suggested putting a monitor on the house for a few weeks to record the electrical activity. This was actually something we had looked into before and this was even more exciting to have someone that was going to meet our needs! He said he was supposed to be pulling the device off of another house that same day and would get back to us. The next two MONTHS we're just me constantly calling and texting to find out the status. It just felt like excuse after excuse always telling me that they hadn't pulled the device off yet. And even if that were the case, the fact they they never ONCE attempted to contact me with an update and left me to be the one constantly reaching out was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. My last message 3 weeks ago wasn't even responded to. Now here I am three months later and I've finally given up. It feels like they never really planned to do my project and just wanted to keep stringing me along. I asked multiple times if this was a project they even wanted and if I should find someone else but he just kept saying he was still working on getting the device. Do I think he was? Absolutely not. Because at one point he even forgot who I was when I called and I had to re-explain our entire issue again. If you have ONE of these devices and you're waiting on ONE customer to give it up to another ONE customer, you don't forget the parties involved. read more

Had the line with all the power wires leading to my house ripped off during a storm. Com Ed would not turn my power back on till I had an electrition repair the poll contecting to my house. After another company gave me the run around - I had to get someone there that day- Patrick was able to get two guys to my house two hours after calling him. Response to quote was fast less then an hour. No pressure to accept quote and when I decided to accept the quote scheduled the job. Under 24 hrs the repair was completed. I had half of my garage outlets not working and no fuse was blowing. After a time Patrick found the problem and made the repair. Also the cost was the quote given with no up charges. I had Patrick Electrical Service put in the electric fuse box along with an electric box for my hot tub. It was a challenge because the joists in my basement were facing north and south, and the electric line needed to go east and west. I had scheduled work to be done for 2 full ceiling fan installs (wiring, piping, etc.), and some other minor fixture replacements (new smoke detectors, closet light replacement, laundry room light replacement). There was a scheduling mishap and my reservation/appointment 7 am, never got in the books. I called 20 minutes after they said they'd be there (+/- 7:20 am) and was able to get a hold of Patrick (owner) and was apologized to and was asked to be available the next day. I let him know that I would call him back. I got a call 5 minutes after we hung up stating that he will pull some workers and come out later that day, which they did. 3 gentleman showed and started to get to work. There were a few unforeseen issues and they asked if they could return the next day at 7 am to finish up. The same workers were waiting outside my residence before 7 ready to work. This team went above & beyond making the mistake right in the end. With the laundry room light, it turned out to be just a broken switch that wasn't making the connection. Don't be deterred from the low feedback, I'm here to help make it grow. Patrick and his team are great, his prices were also the best around. There were no hidden "after the fact" costs or surprises. Half the electric service in my house had gone out on a Saturday night, but came back on Sunday morning. I loowed, butdidn't know what had gone wrong or what caused the power to come back on, but I called Patrick Electrical Monday morning to see if they could check to see if there were issues that needed to be taken care of. This was the first time I had ever contacted them. Patrick answered the phone and was at my door within two hours. He did a very thorough inspection of my service panel and found nothing suspicious, but did tighten some screws and corrected a ground connection that had been improperly made by another electrician. He went outside and pulled the meter off to look at those connections. Nope. Then he climbed up on the roof to check where Comed wires connect to my house. Nothing there either. Then he went to the pole and said that it looked to him like there was a problem with one of the connections at the pole to the wire to my house. We were on the ground, and looking up at a couple little connections at the top of a pole that I could barely see, but he was pretty confident, particularly since he'd looked at everything else up close and found nothing. He told me he'd file a ticket with Comed to let them know about the problem. We went back in the house, and as he was putting the cover back on my service panel, I asked him what I owed, thinking to write a check while he finished up. He told me, "Nothing. I didn't do anything'". Wait a minute! Are you sure? "Yeah, don't worry about it". He must have spent about an hour at my place troubleshooting! Well, Comed did not rush out, probably because my service was working. But Tuesday night the problem reoccured, and with the power still out Wednesday morning, I notified Comed. I have a smart meter that they can monitor remotely, and verifying that there was indeed a partial outage to the meter, a crew was there within a couple hours. And guess what the problem was. Yup! Patrick had nailed it! Even though the problem turned out to be Comed's fault, I'd have happily paid Patrick for his time and assurance that the electric connections and breakers in my aging home were in good shape. He was obviously knowledgable, detail oriented, and took no shortcuts. In this day and age, when poor service and excessive charges often leave a customer feeling taken advantage of, it's rather extraordinary to be left with the feeling that I'm the one taking advantage of the service provider. I'm sure I'll be paying next time I call, but I know for sure that I'll be paying for a job well done. read more
