Unfortunately they had a last minute family emergency with a main cast member,but they pivoted and were able to have a cast member playing a smaller part step in and called another to help fill in for the other smaller part. They pulled it off pretty seamlessly and put on a very entertaining and funny show.Sunset Playhouse always comes through and is a true class act and asset to the community! A great idea for a wonderful night out is what the Sunset Playhouse is all about.

We saw Into the Woods last night and were highly impressed with the staging, which was clever and used wall-to-wall, including a side off-stage area. Not to spoil, but Grandma in bed was incredibly unique, and the many entrances on all sides were utilized fully and made the story very fun. The actors were OUTSTANDING! This theater is so intimate that there is no sound microphone system, so projection is mandatory. Every one of the actors had a voice that was clear and beautiful. Almost the entire show is sung, and to pull this off is not easy. But every cast member held their own, and even with a hearing impairment (me), I could follow the story so well. The costumes were incredibly creative and clever. Each character was defined at their first step on stage. There are refreshments and snacks available for purchase, and the variety is really good. I rarely find what I want, but Bombshell had me choosing from several options. As Bombshell is a not-for-profit theatre, the work done here is obviously a labor of love. We attend many theater events, but this one was special; intimate, clever, top-quality actors and a set design that belies the size of the stage. The one downside is the lack of accessibility. This theatre is on the second floor of a multi-use building, but there is no elevator, which is a real shame. If you can make it up the stairs, the restrooms are small and shared with the other businesses in the building. The cost of a small theater obviously prohibits a high rent/purchase, but I hope Bombshell is successful and can upgrade in the near future to include those with mobility issues. The upcoming season looks really fun, and I plan to attend as many shows as possible. To be able to attend such high-quality theater right in my backyard is a gift that I do not intend to squander. Subscription pricing is great and probably a good idea since this show was a fully sold-out production. The word is out, and I'm pretty sure the seats will be filled quickly.

My very first thoughts weren't about how much money I was spending, but was about how much money I was saving on something that was going to be very exciting for me to learn. My dance instructor, Charmaine made sure my learning pace was set at my comfort and confidence level. Anne-Marie offered suggestions and tweaked my technique. Erin reviewed and monitored my knowledge of the dance routines on a weekly basis to make sure I was getting the best results of my dancing package. Dance routines that I've learned so far is the "Push Pull" ,"Rumba" and Triple Time Swing" better known as the East Coast Swing. More dancing lessons to follow........ I cannot begin to say how much I appreciate Erin, as well as her gifted/talented instructors, Anne-Marie and Charmaine, whom have changed my outlook on life, given me positive direction and personal fulfillment with dancing, that I still continue to enjoy to this day. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. We attended the first group class as…read morecomplete beginners, with one of us already experiencing significant anxiety about learning to dance. Rather than creating an encouraging and supportive environment for beginners, the instructor repeatedly and unnecessarily reprimanded one of us for attempting to help her partner follow the steps. The corrections were delivered in a manner that felt unnecessarily harsh and embarrassing in a group setting. We fully understand that learning a new skill takes time and that instructors need to provide direction. However, there is a significant difference between constructive instruction and repeatedly scolding a student. When we expressed our discomfort, the situation was not handled in a manner that reflected the level of professionalism or customer care we would expect. We ultimately decided that this was not an environment in which we wanted to continue learning. While we understand the stated no-refund policy, we were also disappointed that our concerns were met primarily by a reference to the policy rather than any meaningful acknowledgment of our experience. Beginners should leave a class feeling encouraged to return--not embarrassed for trying.

As usual the production was done wonderfully, with the actors giving us laughs as well as suspense in this great Agatha Christie mystery. The stage set is wonderfully interesting and visually exciting. Very well done. But today I was able to watch the show with subtitles, which is incredibly helpful for someone like me who wears hearing aids, but I still need a little help in live performances. Milwaukee Rep here offers the closed captioning of the shows, all in your own phone. If you prefer, you may also borrow a tablet for this service. By using the app GalaPro on your phone, you can have all the words in front of you without getting in the way of the actors or your seat neighbors. We were using our own phones, but borrowed a seat holder which kept the words in front of us but not in the way. Thank you, Milwaukee Rep for regularly updating your accessibility options. This new one is so helpful!

The view from the very back row (not on the balcony, but main floor) was still good and very visible. We were on the front row, which is usually not my preference, and I would say row 3 and back would be much better. That said, the first row (DD, on stage left) was still not uncomfortable. I had a great view of the stage and not at all uncomfortable during the show, and did not have to crane my neck.

We were getting ready for our wedding so instead of teaching us various dances, they pushed us to learn one song and a few dance moves. We kept coming in asking to see different dances, but we were told that's too much to learn for one song. Forget the song, we came to learn more dancing, get practice and confidence. Some lessons were shorter than others and the instructor repeated the same lesson as before - he kept saying he forgot if he taught us this already, but they have a folder with our name on it so I didn't buy the act. A few lessons in they give you a "half" lesson which is really just a warm up, someone reviewing what you learned and then a massive sales pitch. It was a waste of our night when we thought we were getting a lesson. Then, after we didn't buy the lessons, the remaining classes continued to just be practice with maybe one tip. I wish we had learned more dances for the amount of time we spent at this studio. The first night they gave us a folder with the stuff we would learn... well, we learned a few steps and we have a folder we can try playing with. All in all, I don't really recommend Fred Astaire unless you are using up a gift certificate.

Date of visit: 3/25/23…read more This was a birthday gift from a friend who wanted a different kind of experience for us and she definitely delivered with the Deceptions Magic Show! If you've seen a Mentalist show in Vegas or elsewhere, the show will seem very familiar to you; we attended such a show last year and there were similar elements but some new things that ensured our attention didn't wane. The evening started with dinner upstairs at The Social. The prix-fixe menu had some good choices and service was attentive, though seating was a bit of a cluster, taking nearly 30 minutes to be seated. I suspect this was to stagger meal prep but could have been handled better. I would recommend having patrons select a 545, 6, or 615 seating to help space things out a bit. I will cover the food in more detail in a review of The Social. After dinner, you head down to the Beman room in the lower level of the hotel. There are plenty of signs and Luka, the entertainer stopped by during dinner and provided reminder instructions as well. Gibbons, the jovial assistant to Luka, checks you in at the door and gives you brief instructions, which is mostly to have fun. Aye aye, captain! The content is borderline risque so take that into consideration if you shy away from R-rated comedies or have prudish tendencies. There is a fair amount of audience participation as well, yet the group is quite small overall and if you do get selected, your embarrassment level is fairly minor. The show has an intermission, which mostly seems like a way to ply you with more alcohol, but we didn't mind it. The first "illusion" involving playing cards is definitely the best, but were came away fully impressed with the entire operation. Really the only reason I can't go five stars is that the design of the room is not ideal to easily see what's going on up "on stage." The person in front of me had just a massive, massive head and I was leaning to the left and/or right for most of the show to be able to see what was going on. Get there early and get seats closer to the front so you don't miss anything.

Even though there were masks and distancing, it gave us a little glimpse into the normal world. First of the entree selections were really good. I was told they're constantly evolving too, which keeps me wanting to come back. The safety procedures were as good as could be hoped. In the type of guy who if I'm in public I'm not worried. But it was great seeing everyone wearing a mask and being distanced. Then the magic! Seriously luka is my favorite milwaukee magician. He's charming and funny. Like that strange uncle but with really good magic skills. The floating table was by far the BEST. To be honest I've seen allot of magic and in milwaukee, but deceptions is the BEST! I'll be back!!!
