Unfortunately they had a last minute family emergency with a main cast member,but they pivoted and were able to have a cast member playing a smaller part step in and called another to help fill in for the other smaller part. They pulled it off pretty seamlessly and put on a very entertaining and funny show.Sunset Playhouse always comes through and is a true class act and asset to the community! A great idea for a wonderful night out is what the Sunset Playhouse is all about.

As usual the production was done wonderfully, with the actors giving us laughs as well as suspense in this great Agatha Christie mystery. The stage set is wonderfully interesting and visually exciting. Very well done. But today I was able to watch the show with subtitles, which is incredibly helpful for someone like me who wears hearing aids, but I still need a little help in live performances. Milwaukee Rep here offers the closed captioning of the shows, all in your own phone. If you prefer, you may also borrow a tablet for this service. By using the app GalaPro on your phone, you can have all the words in front of you without getting in the way of the actors or your seat neighbors. We were using our own phones, but borrowed a seat holder which kept the words in front of us but not in the way. Thank you, Milwaukee Rep for regularly updating your accessibility options. This new one is so helpful!

The view from the very back row (not on the balcony, but main floor) was still good and very visible. We were on the front row, which is usually not my preference, and I would say row 3 and back would be much better. That said, the first row (DD, on stage left) was still not uncomfortable. I had a great view of the stage and not at all uncomfortable during the show, and did not have to crane my neck.

This past weekend, my fiancee and I were able to take in a production--Hatter's Madness--held at…read morethe Brumder Mansion. It was such fun!! There was a "tea" before the show; everything was tasty and it was nice to settle in and warm up. The tea smoothly transitioned into Theater Merriment, largely because of the play's content. An original play/production spearheaded by Amanda Hull, Hatter's Madness was a sequel of sorts to Alice in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass. All the performers did exceptionally; the setting, costumes and script were spot on. It was funny and family-friendly. I'm so glad we went!

It's been years since I had been to the Riverside Theater…read more Somehow I had it in my mind that it was not as nice as it's sister, The Pabst Theater. I was very wrong. Access is easier, with no stairs to get in. The entrance & main orchestra floor are on the same level. The decor & style have been maintained, keeping the theater l beautiful. Its nearly 100 years old, opening in 1928, Our seats were very good, row P. The slope of the floor, allows a good view of the stage from any seat. The seats themselves are older but were still comfortable. I hope i get to see a show there again soon. Security was smooth and easy. Tickets were on AXS app which is the same as other Pabst group shows. Parking is in a structure about 2 blocks away, unless you are lucky & find street parking. U

The most recent show I've seen was the Harry Potter Sorcerer's Stone film and live music orchestra performed by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. What a surreal experience, it was wild hearing live music as the movie played on the movie screen. They served Butter beer and popcorn to enhance the Harry Potter movie watching experience! The front facing building has been renovated which now looks more Modern. And refreshed. The inside shows the classic preserved historic look adding to the experience. Convenient service from the security bag check at the entrance, ticket checking, and concession stands! Come see a show and support the entertainment industry! Including local!

We went to the Valentines Day showing of Luka Live. We did get the VIP tickets which are totally…read moreworth it! It was nice to be able to arrive early and grab a drink and head for to see a little up close and personal show with Luka. He was very welcoming and interactive. He has a great sense of humor and gave us a bit of a background on him. After the up close pre show we were the able to take our name tags and "reserve" our seats for the show so we didn't have to rush down after dinner to get good seats. The food was very good! We had the Cod and our group really liked it. There is only cheesecake for dessert. Another option would have been nice. The main show that followed was a lot of fun! Very interactive for sure! We did Valet parking instead of trying to find other parking. Can't wait to go again as his shows are always changing!

Tuesday, March 2026: I attended the Wisconsin Club for a women's luncheon that was held in their…read moreballroom. I am always amazed when I visit the club because it's so beautiful! The wood carvings, the wallpaper, lamps, statues, and other decor really bring me back in time. The food for the luncheon was delicious; I had a garden salad to start and chicken with mushroom ravioli for my main entree. The bartenders at the luncheon were also very friendly. Shoutout to Mikey! He always has a smile and is always welcoming.

Until recently, I'd never been in the Wisconsin Club or really paid attention to it, but I recently…read moreattended an alumni lecture event there. As one would expect, the building itself is stunning. Others have written volumes, literally, about the architectural detail and storied history of the landmark. I will leave you to read those accounts since I'm not an expert. For an event venue, this was very nice. We were directed by signs to the event room, which felt a little impersonal, but effective. After climbing the stairs we found ourselves in a ballroom. There were catering tables at one end with hot and cold appetizers. They were all okay, but nothing extraordinary. My favorite were the cheese curds. The dessert table had a good variety of cookies and brownies. Again, this was basic catering fare, nothing great. They also offered soft drinks, coffee and water. I noticed people carrying glasses of wine and wandered off to find a bar. I struggled to find a person on the ground floor, but eventually a woman directed me to the bar on the ground floor. I was told there's another in the basement. They had a fairly impressive selection of bourbon and whiskies and the like. I ordered two good, but pretty overpriced Manhattans. Although the bar was empty, except one other customer, the bartender was a little slow. All said this is a stunning venue and I'd certainly attend other events held here.

AXE MKE is a very fun place to spend a little time and I want to try and come back with my team at some point in the future. Our friends took care of the reservations so I can't speak to that piece but once we got our waivers signed, we were assigned a lane and a...lumberjill? that would walk us through the process and technique. Madison was incredibly friendly and really set the tone for our time at AXE MKE, shout out to her! While we had mixed results with the actual chucking of the hatchets at the wood, we all had a blast. Those that drink said that the beverages were tasty and the pretzel board that we had was both tasty and a good value. Will definitely be back!

First of all I must start my review by saying this was not my idea to AXE throw on Sunday, however…read moreI had family in town and they wanted to try it. This isn't even anything that I would ever put on a bucket list. I am fairly coordinated, but being a female and not having a lot of upper body strength I would definitely not recommend trying this. It is about $25 for an hour on a lane. There is a waiver that needs to be read over and signed. One of the employees went through all of the rules, showing us the AXE how to stand, placement of your hands on the AXE. He explained how to remove the AXE once it sticks in the wood. I felt that the employee actually should have shown us an example of how to throw the AXE. He said for insurance reasons he was not allowed to do this and said that each of us could have a test turn at how to throw. He would critique our position, how we were holding it. What line to stand behind and how to step forward to throw it. Thank God that I had beverage to drink because after my test throw, and then attempting to throw again, without any success I was starting to get so frustrated. I actually was mad that I spent the money to do this and not to have had any success with hitting anything. Each person gets 5 turns to throw and then the next person gets their turn. After half an hour I was done and never cared if I ever stepped foot into another AXE throwing place again. I honestly don't know what the big attraction is with wanting to do this. Maybe it is a guy thing. I have no idea. I now can say I tried it, I suck, and I am done trying again. I noticed they had a decent menu with a variety of drinks and even some nice appetizers. I would rather play mini golf then try to throw an AXE, at a painted target, on splintered wood. There is signage indicating the point system and how to score, along with a bucket of small mini golf size pencils so that you can keep score. There is a ship bell, near the wall, this gets rung when you hit a bulls eye. One of your teammates will ring it signifying that you don't suck. The music in the background was upbeat and a great variety. The people in there were very nice and could tell that I was frustrated. They said don't worry you will eventually get it, it takes a lot of practice. I say No thank you I am not interested in every practicing how to throw an AXE again. Now if you are up for a challenge, and in the MKE area then maybe this is something that you would enjoy. I recommend wearing comfortable clothes. I was dressed up since we met up with family, from out of town, and were going to dinner. Maybe I would have hit the board if I were more comfortable. Whatever excuse I use I can say I tried and I failed miserably. It was an expensive thing to try.
