The office is tucked away on a street off NE 185th Street, just past the Harbor Homes. They have their own private lot, so parking is easy to find. Making an appointment was simple and quick, thanks to the helpful staff. My first visit to the office was back in October 2024. I was seen by Dr. Gillian Lim and the dental hygienist, Ben. Ben performed the initial exam and cleaning, and then Dr. Lim came in to greet me and do one final check and cleaning. The entire staff was very warm and welcoming! My first impression of the office and staff was so positive that I decided to bring my parents here as well. During my parents' initial visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Karen Wang, who was also very warm and welcoming to both them and me. She paid a lot of attention to my parents and made sure they were comfortable during their dental workup. Dr. Wang was very helpful in explaining any additional dental work that needed to be done and made sure to answer any questions I had. My mom even praised Dr. Wang for focusing entirely on her--the patient--rather than engaging in small talk with staff while working. She had experienced that kind of distracted care with a previous dentist and wasn't a fan of it. I would highly recommend Bothell Smiles Family Dentistry and their team to all of my family and friends! TL;DR: After years of searching, I finally found the perfect dental office--Bothell Smiles Family Dentistry! The staff is warm and welcoming, appointments are easy to book, and both Dr. Lim and Dr. Wang provide exceptional care. The office is conveniently located with private parking. I've even brought my parents here, and we've all had great experiences. Highly recommend to family and friends!

I started seeing them after my dentist of 40 years retired. I was hesitant to go to a new and much younger dentist but was very impressed after my first visit. I have been going there for about 4 years now and continue to be impressed. Great dental practice! Even though they're UW Dental School graduates; they're great. lol GO COUGS!!

I stopped coming last year after the practice dropped my Delta Dental insurance. I recently decided to give them another try because I now have dental insurance through Cigna. Before my most recent appointment, I sent my insurance information in advance by email and also confirmed it by phone. The office booked the appointment with no mention of any issues. I drove there, took time out of my day, and once I was already sitting in the chair, I was told that the practice had dropped all insurance and asked if I wanted to proceed, pay out of pocket, and then personally deal with whatever reimbursement my insurance might or might not provide later. This conversation happened with a dental hygienist, not an office administrator, despite the practice having administrative staff, and it was extremely uncomfortable. It felt inappropriate for a clinical provider to be put in the position of handling a billing and insurance issue. I declined and left, having wasted time commuting and attending an appointment that should never have been booked under these circumstances. This same situation has happened to me before and is exactly why I stopped going previously. What is most concerning is that all responsibility is placed on the patient. You are expected to manage insurance reimbursement yourself, the practice takes no accountability, and they reserve the right to charge whatever they choose, often well above standard ADA fee guidelines. There was also no follow-up of any kind from the office after the visit. No courtesy call, no acknowledgment, and no attempt to address the situation, which further reinforced the lack of professionalism. The office is beautiful and the staff is welcoming, but the lack of upfront communication, pricing transparency, and professional handling of insurance matters feels misleading. I am sharing this so others are aware and can ask very direct questions before booking, especially if insurance coverage matters to you.

I have a medium case of dental phobia and they are considerate to me. Additionally, my gag reflex is very sensitive and that has not caused any anxiety or tension during my visits. My husband also has been going to see them and his teeth needed extensive cleaning and treatments for gum problems. They have catered his treatment to his needs, holding our finances in careful consideration. I can not recommend this clinic more highly.

After every cleaning I have always scheduled a follow up appointment, put it in my phone, and that is that. Recently I'd been getting several texts asking me if I wanted to move up my appointment (not unusual). This time I responded to those texts saying I couldn't make it in at the newly offered times and needed to keep my original appointment. Today I showed up for my appointment and the front office lady told me that I had no appointment and I never did. When I showed her my multiple texts that asked me to move my already-booked appointment, she said that clients only get those texts when they don't have an appointment and that they couldn't accommodate a walk-in today. When I asked her why the text would ask me to move an appointment if it didn't exist, all she did was repeat that those texts are only sent when a person doesn't have an appointment. Again, I've been coming to this spot for over four years and have gotten multiple of these texts in the past when I had appointments booked. I told her politely that I always book a follow-up at my previous appointments and had my calendar reminders on my phone and work schedules. She responded that no, I was wrong, and I never had an appointment. No "it could have been a scheduling glitch," no "oh my apologies maybe we just messed up on our end," nothing. I was wrong, period. I have no desire to continue my health care at a place that can't keep their records straight and has such poor customer service. Will happily go elsewhere.

Avoid this place. Worst dental experience I've ever had…read more From the very beginning, the dentist was openly anti-denture the moment I mentioned that was the route I wanted to take. Despite me clearly stating that I'm on Apple Health and came in specifically for extractions and dentures, he repeatedly tried to upsell me on root canals and other procedures that were not realistic for my situation. For context, a previous dentist in South Carolina told me years ago that my teeth were not salvageable and that I should prepare for full extractions and dentures. My teeth are severely decayed, and even this dentist admitted that fillings would likely fall out if attempted. At this appointment, they took X-rays, did a cleaning, and tested my teeth for pain. Then I was left sitting in the chair for 20-30 minutes while he "looked at the X-rays again." When he returned, he offered no plan, no discussion of extractions, and no next steps. Instead, he told me to "talk to my family" and see what I could come up with. I was very clear about why I booked this appointment, and I left with no answers, no treatment plan, and feeling completely dismissed. To make matters worse, they requested feedback afterward and then argued back and forth with me when I explained why the experience was negative. If you are seeking dentures, extractions, or care that respects your financial reality and medical coverage, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

It felt like I came with one problem, but he tried to find problems in everything, as if nothing was right. Of course, the solution he offered was to "fix" it all, but only for more money. I understand that for him I'm a new patient and maybe that means good business, but honestly, he didn't build any trust with me. And when a doctor says that every other dentist does things wrong, it only makes me worry about how he would actually do my teeth.
