Healing and caring for the graft takes time and they see you through each speedy of the process. The Doctor is a good listener, and made sure that all of my concerns and issues were addressed before the surgery. I had her do 2 dental implants for me. I am very pleased with the results ! The process was smooth, and most professional. For the first implant I elected to be awake during the surgery. Everything went nicely. The Doctor, and her Assistant, Shauna were efficient and very thorough. (Shauna was so nice, too !) During the procedure they provided me with details on where in the process we were. There was no pain during the procedure. The pain after surgery was just for about one day. It is now over a year later, and I am most pleased with the surgery; the implanted post; and the top tooth. I had a second implant recently. For this tooth I chose to be sedated during the process. The implant went smoothly, and the results are great ! In a few months I will have a follow-up exam with the Doctor, and the schedule the top tooth. I don't remember much from the surgery, but observe that I have a great implant now ! The "support staff" in the office are excellent. The Front Desk staff person was detailed and helpful. The clinical staff were professional, and kind. My procedure…read moreinvolved taking a piece of the gum from the inside top of mouth and transferring it to the outside gum line.--not super exciting, BUT, if you have to do it this is the place to have it done. Everyone dealt with in this office was top notch. The receptionist was very personable and had incredible positive energy at 8am. I felt welcome right away. I met with Dr Tarletons assistant and was led to a very clean room for the procedure. The Doctor and his assistant were very efficient AND proficient. As sucky as getting your mouth carved up is, these people made me feel like they genuinely cared about me and were doing their very best to make my procedure comfortable. I'm 40 years old and have been to many many many dental offices. This was the best one.

He got me in same day I called for my first visit (I think there was a cancellation). A few weeks later I was back for extraction and implant. Right after the implant I went to my regular dentist to get my flipper fitted, but my dentist ran out of time and gave me an ill fitting retainer. I called Dr. B's office in a panic, and he saw me same day and fixed the fit. So grateful for that and not having to go with a missing front tooth! As I've had many many bad experiences at the dental office, I started using Dr. Barry and his staff because I really needed gas during my cleanings to relax. I also have very sensitive gums. There were always very accommodating and said that they wanted their customers to be comfortable and that they would provide it complementary. About six months ago when I came in, without notice, they told me that it was no longer complementary. They were able to provide it for that appointment but told me I needed to talk to Dr. Barry about future appointments. When I spoke to him, he told me it was because a lot of people "come in to just get high". I was shocked. I looked at him and said do I look like that kind of a person? You know about my Dental anxiety. After the appointment the agreement was he would provide it one more time and then we would discuss further. On my next appointment, they started the nitrous as usual, but when she started to clean my teeth, it was apparent that the nitrous wasn't working and I asked her to turn it up. She said she couldn't turn it up any further that it was the highest it could be. When I asked her just to give me a couple more minutes to breathe it in and get relaxed, she gave me about 30 seconds and then said " i'm being told I have to get started now". What? It was ridiculous. You can't even give me two minutes to be able to get relaxed in your dental office. When I was making my next appointment I told her that I wasn't comfortable with the way she talked to me and that I wouldn't be back. Then I receive a letter in the mail saying that they were unable to maintain their standards so I was no longer welcome there. I have very good insurance and I was a good patient. But there are many dental offices and so I'm happy to move closer to home. Just beware.

I'm so happy to have been referred to Dr. Mao after I asked for a second opinion. Recently I…read morenoticed additional sensitivity, suggesting the recession might be worsening. Considering I've already shown some bone loss, this makes me nervous. My dentist said nothing about this, but I asked for perio consult. The first opinion I got offered no solutions for sensitivity, wanted to do a few grafts to protect teeth from falling out. Dr Mao, on the other hand, suggested pedicle grafts in addition to the ones first opinion offered. While the healing of this seems to mean a bit more swelling at first, it addresses the sensitivity issue, and my teeth look so much more normal! I've had issues for over a decade, always a background consideration for if/when things get worse, and that was becoming more present with choosing foods based on sensitivity. If the pedicle grafts restore coverage so I'm less afraid to look in my own mouth, background worrying about worsening, that is awesome, I had never heard this option before. And I love that I don't have to worry about the cold of eating carrots! All of the office staff is friendly and effective. I emailed about a question and got a call back the same day; they even put Dr. Mao on the phone to answer my questions. I was pretty nervous about the procedure and I got the text from my pharmacy about the Valium prescription I requested almost immediately after getting off the phone. I've just had my second procedure with Dr. Mao. He's great about making sure questions are answered, and it says something that he puts his cell number on the care sheet. He gave me a call around 8pm the evening of the procedure just to check in. I feel very cared for and trust his opinions and his work. He takes pictures before and through the healing process at follow ups. I haven't asked to see these yet, but I think it will be fascinating to do so down the road. I had to go out of network from my insurance to see him, but I'm so much more confident in his care, I think the extra cost is worth it.
