The office is tucked away on a street off NE 185th Street, just past the Harbor Homes. They have their own private lot, so parking is easy to find. Making an appointment was simple and quick, thanks to the helpful staff. My first visit to the office was back in October 2024. I was seen by Dr. Gillian Lim and the dental hygienist, Ben. Ben performed the initial exam and cleaning, and then Dr. Lim came in to greet me and do one final check and cleaning. The entire staff was very warm and welcoming! My first impression of the office and staff was so positive that I decided to bring my parents here as well. During my parents' initial visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Karen Wang, who was also very warm and welcoming to both them and me. She paid a lot of attention to my parents and made sure they were comfortable during their dental workup. Dr. Wang was very helpful in explaining any additional dental work that needed to be done and made sure to answer any questions I had. My mom even praised Dr. Wang for focusing entirely on her--the patient--rather than engaging in small talk with staff while working. She had experienced that kind of distracted care with a previous dentist and wasn't a fan of it. I would highly recommend Bothell Smiles Family Dentistry and their team to all of my family and friends! TL;DR: After years of searching, I finally found the perfect dental office--Bothell Smiles Family Dentistry! The staff is warm and welcoming, appointments are easy to book, and both Dr. Lim and Dr. Wang provide exceptional care. The office is conveniently located with private parking. I've even brought my parents here, and we've all had great experiences. Highly recommend to family and friends!

I stopped coming last year after the practice dropped my Delta Dental insurance. I recently decided to give them another try because I now have dental insurance through Cigna. Before my most recent appointment, I sent my insurance information in advance by email and also confirmed it by phone. The office booked the appointment with no mention of any issues. I drove there, took time out of my day, and once I was already sitting in the chair, I was told that the practice had dropped all insurance and asked if I wanted to proceed, pay out of pocket, and then personally deal with whatever reimbursement my insurance might or might not provide later. This conversation happened with a dental hygienist, not an office administrator, despite the practice having administrative staff, and it was extremely uncomfortable. It felt inappropriate for a clinical provider to be put in the position of handling a billing and insurance issue. I declined and left, having wasted time commuting and attending an appointment that should never have been booked under these circumstances. This same situation has happened to me before and is exactly why I stopped going previously. What is most concerning is that all responsibility is placed on the patient. You are expected to manage insurance reimbursement yourself, the practice takes no accountability, and they reserve the right to charge whatever they choose, often well above standard ADA fee guidelines. There was also no follow-up of any kind from the office after the visit. No courtesy call, no acknowledgment, and no attempt to address the situation, which further reinforced the lack of professionalism. The office is beautiful and the staff is welcoming, but the lack of upfront communication, pricing transparency, and professional handling of insurance matters feels misleading. I am sharing this so others are aware and can ask very direct questions before booking, especially if insurance coverage matters to you.

He listened to my questions and offered his advice; save my money in case I needed a root canal in the future. Their office refers their patients for root canals to be done elsewhere. They are nice practitioners who worked with me to answer my questions that my other dentist office did not want to take time to answer. They worked to answer my questions when I am not a patient but did make it clear they would like me to become a patient yet did not require it in order to provide me with a consultation on whether I should get a root canal or not. I appreciated it very much. Dr. Blake Herbison offered to file down a tooth above the one that had fractured (I had crowned somewhere else) and I thought that was nice so my teeth didn't hit each other as much to allow the infected tooth that had fractured a year ago time to "heal up" without the upper tooth slamming down on it. Their office closed for lunch, I believe from 12 noon - 1PM so I scheduled the consultation after arranging to switch my lunch hour with another coworker in my place of work. This felt like a caring office; I wanted to let people know I had a good experience here, thank you.

I questioned the establishment from the beginning when…read morethe receptionist rudely stated "you know we won't be able to do a full new patent exam"....why yes I did know since I specifically stated I needed to come in for a flap of gum that was over my wisdom tooth. It was giving me pain and needed to be removed. When I got to the office, my anxieties eases and I noted that it seemed like a nice little mom and pop shop. When the dental assistant came to get me she was pleasant and took x Rays. Sat me in a chair and I wanted for the dentist. He was horrible. He barely looked at problem area and kept telling me that I needed to have my wisdom teeth pulled. Well I am almost 30 and they are 90 percent already in. I am choosing to leave mine in. Never had an issue, it was simply a piece of skin that was rest over my tooth that needed to be removed. Had my tooth come in fully it would have dissipated by itself. Anyone point being he refused to help me the second I told him I did not want to have my wisdom teeth removed. He was rude as hostile and didn't help me. He sent me out the door with a prescription for 45 days of amoxicillin. I work in a medical clinic...45 days? Does he even know what he is doing!? After I got back to work I was really upset because I am leaving for vacation tomorrow and am still in pain. I learned nothing I didn't already know and was treated like crap. I called to speak to them about this and the dentist proceeded to inform me that I wasted his time and made him late to his next new patient. I hope to god he was nicer to them. He told me I could come in this afternoon and he would cut the flap....funny because that's what I asked from the beginning and now all the sudden you will do it? Oh he also mentioned he would have maybe considered doing it before if I had been his patient or set up a cleaning with him. I'm sorry but hell no. I told him I wasn't comfortable, with my luck he probably would have intentionally not numbed me or something since he clearly didn't give a crap about me or the pain I was in. End of story I was told I wouldn't be charged for my visit which I am thankful for. I work in customer service and work with patients. I would hope to get the same respect I strive to give our patients daily. I would really think twice about coming here if you especially if you have anxiety about going to the dentist.

This office pushed this elderly man to get a new $2,000 tooth & it felt almost as if they were trying to guilt him, as if this one missing tooth is going to prevent him from chewing. He has all his other teeth. Even though the office was told NO more than once, they emailed them an entire plan for a new tooth. The family member went back and once again they were pushing her as to why her husband needed a new tooth. She wasn't the patient. Why were they discussing his treatment with her? These patients are elderly. The elderly cannot afford thousands of dollars in dental care. Everything is more expensive. Their insurance premiums are skyrocketing right now. I'm trying to get them to a new office because this office feels predatory. Take no for an answer.

Greenhalgh were on staff. I met Tammy, one of the wonderful dental hygienists. I have never received more caring, thorough cleanings. I moved away from the area 8 years ago and tried dentists in 4 different cities, but was never able to find a similar level of care and technical sophistication (more below). I was traveling for vacation to Seattle and made a visit to Kingsgate Dental one of my stops. I'm so glad I did. Tammy did a 1.5 hour inspection (the cleaning will be another appointment), which included high definition digital X-rays (she told me they recently got this system - but are ahead of many practices in having used digital X-rays for the past 10 years); taking pictures of my individual teeth so any discoloration was clear; and using some new-fangled gadget to test enamel strength re cavities, rather than the old system of prodding with a pick to see if the tooth feels sticky. Plus she measured gum recession and closeness of gums to each tooth. I was very impressed with Dr. Kelley. She recommended steps I could take to steward my teeth, including using a non-fluoride paste to help the enamel. She told me about ideal upcoming dental care (it's time for some crowns) but clearly did not push any dental care I did not strongly need. She was understanding of my financial situation. When it came time to pay, in addition to the 10% discount for uninsured people who pay up front, which I knew about, Jackie mentioned an additional promotion she could use to lower my cost. Both front office staff are the same from when I was last there 8 years ago, which says something! This dentist's office is so above and beyond any other I've seen (before or since) that I can't recommend it enough. I hesitate to write such a glowing review on Yelp because I fear I won't be able to get an appointment next time I need one, but the practice deserves it.
