Don't give up looking for this place; it's tucked at the end of a standard business complex. Located in the Edinburgh Park complex, it's a good option when staying near the airport or catching an afternoon flight out of Edinburgh.
They have plenty of interesting food and drink choices, and of course baked items galore! I started with soup of the day because why not? I can't remember the exact variety but it was creamy and hot enough to displace the cold in my bones from this February Highlands day. And of course the fresh-baked bread stole the show, topped with a mound of whipped butter.
The main dish was simple yet elegant: grilled salmon and potatoes. I believe I've had my quota of Scottish salmon this trip, but who's counting?
The servers were polite and attentive, letting me linger even though it was close to closing time. They allow nice dogs apparently, since the Scottish ladies next door had a pup in tow (who was quite well-behaved as I got to catch up on all the gossip). Don't worry ladies, I'm a vault.
If you can swing a visit during the daytime this is worth the trip. They're only open till 3:30 though, so plan for breakfast or lunch. I'm generally intrigued how they stay in business with many surrounding buildings but few souls in sight. Perhaps it's hopping on Tues-Thurs when the sometime-office crowd shows up.
The staff loves the sandwiches which makes sense given the deli meat and loaves on the bakery side. I'll hope to return. read more
