Yelp 100 Challenge 2019 - # 88/100 Came by for coffee then pit stop, but got swayed and finally stayed for their sticky toffee pudding. There were hardly any customers so we were told we can sit wherever. I had a cappuccino which wasn't all that memorable. But that sticky toffee pudding was so good. Service was nice, restroom was clean, and parking was fine when we visited.

Just had lunch here. Very accommodating space for 4 adults and 2 high chairs. Good baby changing/WC facilities. I ordered a pulled pork baguette which came with chips. The portion was huge and chips were nice as they were done in a traditional pub lunch sort of way (if u know what I mean). Sadly the pulled pork was as dry as a bone, albeit tasty, and was in desperate need of some more sauce as it came with only a drizzle of what looked and tasted a bit like thousand island dressing. This was not unpleasant, but a bit odd. My preference is for BBQ sauce, but an apple sauce and slaw would also be nice. The meal came to £44 for the four of us - not bad value if you consider portion sizes. We all had baguettes and chips and soft drinks.

On the main running into the old town of South Queensferry, the Rail Bridge Bistro sits perfectly, overlooking the Firth of Forth and the coastal towns of the Kingdom of Fife. The Bistro is a great place to pop in and have your breakfast or lunch, or even just for a quick bite to eat with a coffee! For breakfast one can have a full Scottish cooked breakfast or even go continental with French toast! Prices are quite reasonable with a cooked breakfast costing less than seven pounds. The lunch menu is dominated by the bistro's locality, with seafood dishes offered throughout the menu. The Bistro was quite busy when I paid it a visit and seemed very popular with tourists! After you're fed and watered, one can pay the wee gift shop a visit, however, a warning to all, this shop is heavily stocked with your usual tacky tourist gifts! Try the Bistro and least and try and pass by the gift shop!

In the front of the establishment you are served various luscious flavors of ice cream and in the back you can relax and enjoy. They have very comfortable couches where you can lie back and day dream, read or chat with another. When I recently visited I got the Banoffee and Caramel Flavors. My friend ordered some fruity scoop ...... They also sell Salted Caramel, Amarena, Gingerbread, Yoghurt, Pistacchio........about 18 flavors in total. The ice cream is creamy and just the right amount of sweet. Just luscious. You get a lot of ice cream for affordable prices. 1 scoop = £2.50, and the portion is massive. They offer even two or more flavors in one scoop. Next time I will try and get an "Affogato", a mix of coffee and ice cream. I learned that Affogato means drowning, so clearly the idea behind ice cream drowning in coffee :-) Also beware! The parlor is closed on a Sunday night after 18.00, what is a shame, as it would be nice to enjoy some delicious ice cream before bed time.

Second, their team (whose names now I have forgotten which is a shame) are extremely helpful and patient. They know their stuff. I was seated quickly and was given the menu and my eyes...my eyes were bigger than my stomach which is the other shame. My favorite was the Millionaire Shortbread Crepe. I mean come on. That thing was decadent, rich and just enough. That was probably the only dessert I was able to complete. Next, was similar to what we Americans call a pazookie. Nutella everywhere. I should've known that this would be the richest, creamiest and thickest of all. I probably should've ordered water but instead I craved a hot chocolate. I also ordered a hot chocolate which was dark chocolate I believe. Perfect for the cold weather. Unfortunately was stuffed by the time this came out. 10/10 recommend. Service is spectacular, team is friendly and genuinely enjoys being there and desserts, I mean cmon you can tell by the photos. Worth the hype. Worth the money and overall just a good place to hangout after exploring the city.

I liked the cocoa, disliked the brownie. The brownie tasted more like a chocolate cake to my daughter and I. My daughter disliked the cocoa but liked the brownie. I also feel like for the price of the ice cream, it can be a bigger scoop. I was so excited to try this spot but overall, I feel it could've been skipped on our trip

You can find lots of chocolate variations on display on cupboard shelves. At the moment they offer 10% off chocolate bars before a certain time of the day. There are also macaroons, ice cream a (not gelato), pralines and little "cakes". Above the main entrance you see the drink menu written on huge chalk boards: Traditional chocolate, one for kids and one for adults, white chocolate, milky chocolate, dark chocolate and much more. They do coffee too. I ordered salted caramel ice cream and milk chocolate, which was the best hot milk chocolate in Edinburgh so far, and not to mention I got served plenty of it in a big mug. If you like chocolate, you will LOVE The Chocolate Tree. Located in the trendy Bruntsfield area, it is in the perfect position to sit in and gorge or sit out and gorge. Their chocolates are all organic (so at least your conscious feels good about eating copious amounts of chocolate...) The decor is very chic, trendy and indulgent. Indeed, I think Indulgence is a theme in the cafe. My first visit was under sad circumstances - recently single and feeling vulnerable, my friend took me and ordered me the 'Spanish Hot Chocolate' (see picture). Oh My God. Where I was feeling despairing, distraught and dismayed I was overcome with delight, deliriousness and felt thoroughly delectable!! It was perfect...perhaps a bit rich, but the first few sips were to die for. It even came with a little dough cake-thing to dip into the thick, gloopy chocolate, like fondue! It would have been ideal for two to share. To be honest, I'm not what you would call a choc-a-holic - especially now that Cadbury's is no longer considered 'chocolate'. But there is something for everyone to enjoy, whether its a slice of their GLORIOUS chocolate cake (it was delicious, after a while I felt I should find a mirror to check if my pupils had dilated) or one of their mini chocolate bites. If you can't make it to the shop they sell online and they're much cheaper than their competition ( it's one of their ethical principles, woohoo!). It really is worth visiting, on a warm summer day to lounge and indulge yourself, or on a cold winter evening to keep yourself warm. It's the sort of place I imagine Harry Potter would sit in...

To begin with, don't let the name of the cafe confuse you... yes, it IS a dairy with great ice…read morecream... but it also serves food, including sandwiches, scones, tea, and breakfast (i've uploaded a pic of the menu). Yelp has rejected my recommendation of calling it Scottish Food or a Cafe and has kept it listed simply as Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt (neither of which I've tried here yet). There is some good food in Perth even though you may have to pay a bit more for it than you would in the bigger cities of Scotland. But just outside Perth, you find some farm shops with some incredible locally sourced food. Stewart Tower Dairy is one of these. Most people would have found this place either by word of mouth or from signs on the A9. I actually discovered this place whilst road biking with a friend. And wow.... so glad I know about Stewart Tower. I have only stopped here on my bike rides and they're very welcoming to cyclists, even sweaty ones. The staff here are super friendly. They also have a nice shop inside with local and/or gourmet foods. Most of the time I have had just a pot of tea with a scone. I have learnt recently to ask for the Tea Pigs Everyday blend. It's even better than the regular house blend, so I would recommend trying that or one of the other specialty teas. On another stop, I was trying to decide whether or not to push through and have a late lunch at home or whether I should have lunch at Stewart Tower Dairy.... AND... maybe I gave in and had lunch there. This was partly to do with the fact that the menu had minestrone that day, and I definitely didn't have homemade soup at my flat. So I had to have it. And I ordered a Coronation Chicken sandwich to go along with it, served on malted brown bread. It was SOOO good. I often feel like Coronation Chicken is a good test run for sandwiches for any cafe, and I wasn't disappointed. So... my advice is as followed: if you're in Perth and have a car, then there are two places you should check out. Stewart Tower Dairy is one of them. And you won't be disappointed. It's about a 10-15 minute drive out of town. And if you happen to have just biked through Little Glenshee, then reward yourself with a scone, tray bake or some ice cream. No need to push through and bike home without a break ;) Oh and did I mention they have goats and lambs for the kids to see outside? So bring the kids, but maybe not on your bike.

How she manages it it her flat is amazing. If it were me the place would be a bombsite. Ah, I forgot to mention the ginger sorbet. She doesn't have a freezer, or even an ice-box in the fridge, so I'm further impressed by the frozen dessert. Truly magic. She hosts these tea parties around every two months on Saturdays and Sundays and the dates are on her facebook page ww.facebook.com/QueenofTartsEdinburgh or you can check the twitter account @queen_of_tarts I think she can hold around 12 or 13 guests so you can either go by yourself, with a friend or take a small group of you along.
