It probably does most its trade through selling filled rolls, sandwiches and hot drinks. The interior decor is clean and the bright colours on the wall create a bright atmosphere. At the front counter the service is efficient and they have an impressive range of ingredients for sandwich fillings as well as a variety of different breads and baguettes. I had cajun chicken and salad in a nice crispy baguette with a packet of cheese and onion crisps. It tasted great but it was also quite pricey as it came to about £3.50 for what was essentially just a sandwich and a bag of crisps. I can't dispute the quality of this place, however, and The Deli offers fresh ingredients, an extensive range of food and drink and great service to match.

On entering l was greeted by one if the owners who said "hello and how are you today " and that alone is something rare these days, never met such polite staff and helpful in every way. The first thing l noticed when l walked in was how well stocked the shop was, everything was in its place, on the shelves where stocked with locally sourced in Edinburgh or Scotland, from biscuits to locally made jam. There where in house made pizza slices to go as well as coleslaw, and cheesecake. The Mouse hole deli stock a variety of scottish cheeses with a selection of cold cut meats, with the usual deli items such as the salads, fresh eggs available and an assortment of baked breads. One wall is completely taken up with shelves of sauces, treats, and other little prepared nibbles to take away. Very affordable and not far from the water. The outside had blackboards about french cheeses and meats, along with a blackboard drawing of France and pictures of foods and wines showing the location things had come fun! It was a really cute and cool shop. Inside the shop is packed with delicious foods, drinks, meats and cheeses and even local choclates. The table section is small just about 6 little two people tables, but the deli like food that was being taking to the tables made us ever to come back for lunch in the near future! Since we were just out on a stroll , we got some pastries to go, and had them later at home. They were delicious! I had a pear almond tartlet which had a thin shortbread like crust.

But they are just far too aldente with the french beans on visit one. After saying twice that the needed to be cooked more (served rock hard to us) we used the microwave to blast them. They did however take the beans off the bill and apoligised. Lovely wee gift shop full of delightful and dainty gifts. The deli is just as good and stocks the beer from the microbrewery much to the hubbies delight.

The brownie is decadent, rich and with the right amount of crunch & gooey ratio. Scotch egg was yum, sausage roll got the thumbs up. Much cheese was bought and consumed. They have my fave (Comte) which was a super added bonus. Great place to stop for a bite and a wander around. Try not to miss the Brewery tours like we did... (gives us a reason to go back!). Don't be afraid to ask for tasters of the beers, grab a pint and sit on a comfy couch to enjoy it! If only I had a car... I'd totally be back.. but I'm sure I'll find a way to return.. somehow!

Though I have to admit at times it can be a tinsy bit pricey for those on the budget.... but its so cute and has so many imports you can't find in St. Andrews that the premium is worth it. They have my favourite type of Amaretti cookies which I was super excited about! But I have to say I couldn't afford their Truffle oil (go to Morrisons, they have it too... and cheap but probably not the same quality as the Little Italian Shop). When my parents where visiting we came here and got some cheese and pasta and pesto sauce (and wine of course) and made a meal from this place. And (don't hate me for mentioning it again) but the shop is just so cute that I can't help but love it! Sometimes I get a little worried though when I walk by and I don't see anyone inside.... I don't want this place to close because of the recession!

There is always a good special on, the last time I went there the special was a spicy chicken wrap with salsa and cheese and it was delicious and only cost £2.80! They also have a good range of fillings on other baguettes and sandwiches and all the ingredients that they use are fresh. Furthermore they have a good range of coffees including lattes, espressos and cappuccinos as well as tea and cold drinks. There are also salad boxes on sale which cost around £3.50 and there are a variety of home-made soupls on sale here as well. Will definitely be coming back soon!

The cheese selection is very good as well. The buttery brie in the display case is just melting away by the minute. I recommend you get a salami sandwich to go and find a nice picnic spot in this cute little town or use it to sop up all that Edradour. ;)

The staff were also super nice and were accommodating enough to make me a ice-cream coffee (I got a half cup of the flat white and then got a scoop of the local vanilla ice-cream added - delicious!). Also this place was the only shop serving food that was open on the High Street on a Friday evening after 5pm (they close at 5:30). Would recommend.
