I really like this Patient First! I usually go to the one in Bowie but this one is closer for me. Everyone was warm and took my concerns seriously. They always lead with the happenstance that there is a long wait. However, they move as quick as they can. I did have a long wait but they were able to handle my problem quickly. Patch me up, provide me with antibiotics and pain meds, and send me in my way home. Doctors and PAs provide great recommendations and actually care about you as a whole. No racism or prejudice. Two stars not one... I would even say 2.25 or 2.5 stars... because 1. the front desk was nice 2. good wait time and 3. I left my wallet and they kept it for me. But all these nice mitigations only barely offset complete failure of the vital functions. After putting my time, money, and hopes to stop suffering into Patient First, they decided I was meant to bear the pain. Never request pain medication; once in several years max, if in serious pain. Referred by dental office who assured me "Patient First will take it seriously". Recieved the tiny amount of medicine needed to make it to the dentist in 18 hours. Called and asked if they were busy, and the Receptionist told me "not right now", so i went right over. My husband and I are visiting family near Pasadena, Md. He gets the flu. My daughter-in-law says to go to Patient First which is near them. It was one of the best urgent care visits of my life! First, we were checked in immediately and seen right away. Second, they tested my husband and because they have a lab on site, there was no waiting. They diagnosed him with the flu and because they have a pharmacy on site, he got the meds he needed. Mind you, it was a Sunday, early evening and most pharmacies were closed. If they didn't have the meds on site he would have had to wait until the next day to get relief. I want to give a special shout out to PA Adam Sherman. DO NOT USE if you have United Health Insurance They billed me for a office visit and added on procedures, vice an Urgent Care visit. Resulted in 40% increase in my bill. Their answer is we billed according to our contract with United Health. Not my problem, as my Urgent Care co-pay is supposed to be $50. I got told at first they would remove it, then the doctor told me no because they were uncomfortable. After I heard people talking outside about how it's past their working hours. I have recently had to visit Patient First because I was extremely ill with COVID. I had the distinct pleasure of seeing Dr. Everette LaFon who ordered xrays and determined I had pneumonia even though a negative COVID test. Sure enough, two days later, I was even worse and had a positive COVID test. Dr. LaFon saw me several times over Thanksgiving and into the weekend to make sure I was improving. It is because of Dr. LaFon that I turned the corner on the road to recovery. He was honest about the seriousness of my condition, informed me what to watch out for, and said to come back Thanksgiving night. He was there for me every step of the way. I am still sick but getting better thanks to him. I wish Dr. LaFon was my primary care doctor. I vow to see this wonderful physician every time I am ill. I went in for a referral for a hurt elbow and the process took 3.5 hours.... but only ~20 minutes of actual service (including registration and vitals). Meanwhile, there was a frustrated patient in the Wtg room asking how much longer he has had to wait for his C-19 results. What?? They only test symptomatic people, so this likely infected person is sitting in the middle of the Wtg room, in the middle of other patients! I seemed to me that they were either terribly understaffed or completely disorganized. Meanwhile, they are managing their patients irresponsibly!! I've had to visit more than I'd like this year and I'm pretty pleased with this Patient First location. Even at their busiest, I was seen in a reasonable amount of time. Providers from administrative staff, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physicians, and lab techs have all been professional. Most major insurance coverage is accepted and there is an online patient portal where you can view lab results if necessary. If prescribed medication it may be much easier for you to get the medication there than the nightmare that's become many local drugstores. read more

IF I COULD GIVE NO STARS FOR THIS VISIT I WOULD!!!!!!!! I have been a long-time customer/patient of the Pasadena MD location. I visited the Pasadena MD location on 03/22/2023 to speak with a provider about my eye(s). They had been going back and forth being bloodshot red, and then on 3/22/2023, the right one had a yellow hue to it. Upon meeting with Dr. David Rorison, he stated we would need to run some tests. I agreed, and he sent in the nurse. The nurse came in, and I asked what tests I would be doing (assuming it would be eye tests). She stated it was a covid and a flu test. I politely declined, as I have no symptoms of either, and I am also fully vaccinated. The nurse said no problem, and we wished each other a nice day. Dr. Rorison came back in, with an attitude saying, "WHAT'S GOING ON NOW TARA?".... Excuse me? I told Dr. Rorison with all due respect, I do not consent to take either a covid or flu test, as I was expecting an eye test. Dr. Rorison laughed, stated he sees over 150 patients a day, and many of them have the same symptoms I have. Dr. Rorison made me say no FIVE TIMES before offering me another solution, after I told him I wanted to leave. I told Dr. Rorison that I appreciate it, but now I was feeling pressured by a medical professional and wished to leave. Dr. Rorison then put his arm up against the wall, blocking me in the patient room, insisting I do not leave. I felt very cornered and unsafe. I started to get loud so that way a nurse or somebody could hear me. I told Dr. Rorison I wanted to leave, and he still blocked me in for about 1.5 minutes, which felt like a lifetime. I do not appreciate being made to feel this way, especially by a medical professional. I talked with the lady at the front desk as I was leaving, to get the Dr's name, and any contact info I could get to report this man. I will also be filing a civil suit against him. read more

I have been in a few Patient first locations in the area over the years. When I visited, I resigned myself to spending at least 3 -4 hours. 2 hours in waiting room and 2 hours in the back exam room. I was pleasantly surprised when I visited this patient First Pasadena location. The staff were nice and professional. I was called to the back within 15 minutes of arrival. The doctor came in almost immediately. She was friendly and sympathetic. She took care of me and I was out of there within 30 minutes total. Thank you Dr Hamida Patel and staff. My husband had a broken pelvis, was in extreme pain. Needed an exray and they would not give him one. They judged him by his tattoos and assumed he was drug seeking when he told them that Oxycodone hurt his stomach. He needed a none narcotic pain killer. They gave him a shot of turdol. As he's walking out using a walker he dropped his paperwork and couldn't bend over to pick it up they all just watched him struggle. Don't go to this place. read more

Great, quick service and wonderful bedside manner. I got there 10 min before they opened. They opened promptly at 8am. There were just 2 people in front of me. I was in and out in 45 minutes. Dr. Ambrose quickly diagnosed me, educated me on the prescription and how I should take it, and symptoms I should keep an eye out for that would signify my condition worsening and me needing additional medical attention. She was very educational and empathetic. Despite it being a quick visit I never felt like I was being rushed out or only seen as a dollar sign. read more

Patient First in pasadena, maryland deserves a minus one for having 'z' front desk intaker write down the wrong symptoms patient is stating upon entering the faciiity. These symptoms that were wrong was discussed with RN head and Physician Assistant. When i realized the front desk 'z" was spanish speaking i wrote on paper my symptoms. 'z' still wrote the wrong symptoms in my medical chart. I had to fight to get "z' errors out of my medical chart. This happened in feb 2022. So I was as diagnosed with covid on Saturday and before I left I was told by the Dr. who diagnosed me that if I feel worse to return. Sure enough Sunday morning I was back with more symptom one of which was a crackling sound when I breathe and feeling worse. This place was painfully slow and provided poor quality care from start to finish. It took forever just to get set up as a patient with paperwork and they couldn't help me figure out insurance. Then, I spent over 45 minutes in the room waiting for the doctor. When I finally saw the doctor, she failed to ask enough questions to fully understand my medical history and make an informed decision. I am a very patient person, so when I walked in without an appointment I expected to have to wait. Well, try 4 hours. I wish I could say that I was exaggerating, but I'm not. I went in and came out 4 hours later. My time with the actual doctor was about 5-10 mins. The staff was so friendly, which is why I am giving this rating 2 stars and not 1, but their system needs improvement. At one point when I was about to leave because I thought they forgot about me, the doctor came in. She was happy, friendly, and apologized for the wait. She looked into my problem and gave me proper medication. Funny thing is no one asked if I was on any medication and it wasn't in the paperwork I filled out either (giving the doctor benefit of the doubt, I would assume the pills I was given don't have any bad chemistry with any drug to exist in the world which is why she didn't ask). Oh, while I was waiting to be seen I easily overheard the staff talk about how they don't get enough hours and get cut off before 40 and also learned about crab cakes being less expensive to just make yourself. Crab cake discussion is fine, but it made me a bit sore to hear the staff sitting around talking about food and I was sitting there for hours waiting. If you have an appointment, I feel your experience will be much better because the staff is so kind, but if your going in without one, then I don't think this is the right place to go. read more

I went here 12/3/15 just after 11 am complaining of severe pain in my neck and shoulder. Within a few minutes I was taken to the back area for blood pressure, temperature, etc.and was informed that my blood pressure was high. The young lady that took my vitals informed me that they did not have a bed available so I would need to go back to the waiting room. Somewhere around 11:40 I was escorted to a room with a curtain for privacy. Around about 1 I'm frustrated that no one has even peaked around the curtain. I'm a diabetic and I had breakfast around 8:00 am and now it's 1:00 and I can feel my blood sugar dropping. I guess my point is that I understand these places get busy and I not the only patient but they could have informed me the wait time would be several hours. Had they extended that courtesy to me I would have grabbed something to eat next door. while I was sitting in the room I could hear two ladies sitting outside that were holding personal conversations.One of them objected to calling a particular patient. Maybe one of them could have come by the room to give me a time frame to be seen. Finally I left at 1:15 the funny part is that they probably didn't even realize that I left. Later that day my wife calls to complain and they tell her the office manager was gone for the day and they would have her call on Friday. Do you want to guess where this is going? That's right no phone call. I have already called my insurance company so they don't pay for the service or lack of. I will call them 1 more time and if the office manager can't handle my complaint I'll call my credit card company and dispute my co-pay. Bottom line is these people just don't care. I had a horrible kidney infection and was about to leave for a cruise... unfortunately I got sick late at night and went to this place to get care. I am so pleased that I did. The doctor gave me a shot of antibiotics and prescribed me oral antibiotics and pain killers. I am so lucky he was my doctor because I know alot of them wouldn't have ordered as many tests as he did. Although it took me about 3 hours to get out of there, i am happy. I was thuroughly looked over and made sure I was good and ready to go. I sincerely think I got better care here that I would have gotten at my regular doctors office. And it's a much shorter wait than going to an ER. read more

What you should take away from this review is Dr. Felicia Garcia, is excellent, the other semi-female doctor is HORRIBLE. Dr. Garcia is kind and compassionate, the other doctor is condescending and annoyed by your presence, like she is wasting her time by talking to you. I should have just waited for an appt with my PCP, but I can go to Patient First when I want. And I had such a great experience with Dr. Garcia, she helped me so much! But I won't go back here unless I absolutely have to and then I will call ahead and see when Dr. Garcia is scheduled. You have been warned-you are wasting your time seeing the other doctor. And if you want privacy, you can't get it here. Just waiting to be seen, you can hear doctors transcribing their visits with patients and you hear EVERYTHING that is wrong with that patient and their name and DOB. The weight/height/blood pressure spot-you can hear everything said in that area, too. I'm pretty sure there are some major HIPAA violations going on. I felt that I was diagnosed correctly each time and even purchased the prescriptions there, which saved me the time and effort of going to the pharmacy. I go to these guys after hours or when my GP can't take me that day. None of the "over-the-counter" drugs seemed to be helping which is why he sought "professional" help. Well he received nothing but judgement. Once Dr. Matti B. Mulleta found out my husband did not receive his covid vaccine he basically refused to treat him. IT TURNS OUT MY HUSBANDS TEST CAME BACK NEGATIVE. Both the rapid and the PCR test. NOW we need to go BACK to ANOTHER doctor and pay AN ADDITONAL CO PAY to receive proper treatment for his very obvious upper respiratory infection. If Dr. Mulleta would have treated him properly to begin with we wouldn't be in this situation. No matter what your OPINION is on the OPTIONAL vaccine your job is to treat your patients. PERIOD. We took my wife into this location for a laceration on her hand that needed stitches. The medical assistant who takes your vitals and preps you to be seen by the nurse and Doctor was hands down the rudest most unprofessional employee I've ever had to deal with in the medical field. Eye rolls, scoffs, angry, mean and rough. I told my wife that I wouldn't allow her to treat her if she was going to do any of the procedure. Luckily we didn't see her again. We complained to the nurse and the doctor and they were very nice and apologetic for their colleagues behavior. That is the only reason I gave this location 3 stars instead of 1.
