They can't get the supplies that I need. They don't tell you the truth. I dislike business people who don't care.

The pros: This is a local compounding pharmacy that is reasonably priced people - The mobile vet…read morein KY was about to order to an out of town compounding pharmacy that my cat's meds would have cost more, and had to get them mailed here on top of it, when I told them about Kunkels. The male pharmacist was very friendly and accommodating when there was an air pocket in the syringe of the ointment we got our cat. (Ointment rubbed on ears - so air pocket did not affect in any way other than missing some medication paid for). Compounding pharmacies are few and far between so I feel grateful that we have one here in our area! They are always friendly and you can tell try to work hard on the "customer service" experience and show you other items they have in stock that you might want/need to buy in future for reference. On top of it, they take "Fund Money" from the Buy it in Anderson Coupon Book for Pets meds (not people meds). I find it really endearing that they put the prescription under your pet's name in their system, just like vets do at their office. A few years back, I even explored getting a compounded med for my illness there, but I would have had to pay out of pocket as it was not covered by insurance. The cons: I realize they are a small "local" pharmacy that is not a huge franchise chain like Walgreens or CVS. That being said, the incessant phone calls are a little overkill. I have an illness that produces extreme fatigue, and they always seem to call when I am sleeping. I'm sure if I requested them to please not call me, they would do so. (But it would probably take several times of reminding them to please stop because their communication seems to be somewhat lacking). They call to let you know they received an updated script, they call to let you know that it is ready for fill, they call to let you know it is ready for pickup, even though I told them I'd be in to pick it up within a certain time frame of days, again, 2 more phone calls. I went to pick up a different script, instead of being streamlined and asking if I planned on filling the med they had the other script for - they called me 2 days later saying it was getting close to filling that script which I had to explain again that my animal was getting a procedure done where the script was no longer necessary. (Which upon a previous phone call I had to make sure I told the gentleman not to fill it because I more than likely would be doing this procedure). I don't mean to sound ungrateful, because my illness makes my memory very poor too, but there would never be a way I would ever forget my pets meds. Please, maybe the phone call a day or two after forgetting to pick up, or forgetting to order a refill, no need for multiple calls in advance with the assumption that most people aren't going to remember. Kind of makes one sense a desperation to fill meds, and that they are just barely keeping their head afloat to stay open. I just think/hope they update their method of prescription filling, and communication in system and among the employees. Or please take notes, or update the technology of your pharmacy. I'd hate to see this pharmacy go, because it has been such a long time staple of Anderson (regular pharmacy - different location years ago). Last time i dealt on the phone with a pharmacist there, it was a woman, that left a little wanting in the "friendly" area, as opposed to the male pharmacist I had dealt with previously a few weeks prior. Didn't seem to quite fit in as well with the whole "customer service" philosophy of the other employees there when I made a request. It seemed like she thought i was trying to be difficult, then I had to explain why I made that request, and I didn't think I was being unreasonable at all. I don't know if she was a new employee, or it just so happened I had to deal with her on the male pharmacist day off. If I could give 3.5 stars I would, based upon my most recent experience. When I first started there 8 weeks ago, I would have given 4.5 - 5 stars. As you can tell, kind of mixed feelings and experiences. Bottom line though, again, very thankful option for meds for a cat that you don't want to pill (or can't/won't), and can do a liquid form in a syringe (for oral) or for ointment form.

I am 73 and live in the Dayton, OH area. I ordered a refill of medication that was to be kept…read morefrozen from Nie's Pharmacy 11745 Madison PikeIndependence, KY 41051 on Jan 14, 2025 and it was shipped by FedEx on Jan 15 in a box labeled Time Sensitive. I received an email from FedEx saying that it would be delivered on Jan 16, but it was not delivered until Jan 18 at 4:55 pm. There had been no adverse weather during this time and no reason for delivery delays. I refused delivery of this medication because it had not been delivered as indicated and I was told by the FedEx driver that it had been here for 2 days in a warm warehouse before finally being delivered. I showed the driver that the box was labeled Time Sensitive and told him that it was to be kept frozen. I told the FedEx driver that I felt that the medication was now compromised so he marked the box as Damaged and Return to Sender. Nie's Pharmacy called me on Monday, Jan 20 at 9:41 am and left a message to call them back. I called them back at 11:37 am and the employee said that they had received my returned package. It took 4 days to be delivered to me, but Nie's Pharmacy received it back in just over a day. I explained to the employee in detail why I had refused delivery of this package containing medication; that it took 4 days to be delivered to me from 60 miles away and that the medication was here at the local FedEx warehouse and sat there for 2 days in a warm warehouse before finally being delivered. The employee stated "We have had a lot of complaints about deliveries from FedEx." I told the employee that I wanted my money, $150.85, refunded and she said that she would talk to the pharmacist, Jack Nie, the owner of Nie's Pharmacy. I then received a call from Nie's Pharmacy at 11:49 am and the employee stated that Nie's Pharmacy was refusing to refund my money because they opened the package and that the temperature strip inside the box indicated that the medication was still within an acceptable range, even though it had been unthawed due to FedEx's failure to deliver this in a Time Sensitive manner. I told the employee that at no time did I ever receive any instructions from Nie's Pharmacy to open the box if it was delayed in shipping to check and see if the medication was still good. No communication was ever received via email, attached to the outside of the box, or on their website https://www.niespharmacy.com about what to do in a situation like this, nor could I call Nie's Pharmacy on Saturday when my package was finally delivered at 4:55 pm because they close on Saturday at 1 pm and are closed on Sunday. Nie's Pharmacy does not have any return policy of any kind on their website and this business is NOT BBB Accredited. The Nie's Pharmacy employee went on to say that I could come and pick up the medication (to an out of state location 60 miles away) or they could reship the same medication that I had just returned via FedEx (a medication that was now unthawed and 6 days old and using FedEx, the same shipping service that had proven to be terrible). I told the employee that either choice was unacceptable and that I was going to dispute the charge with my credit card company and that they [Nie's] had terrible customer service. Her only response was "That's fine". I was fully justified in refusing delivery of this medication due to FedEx's failure to deliver it in a Time Sensitive manner when there were no adverse weather conditions that would have delayed the delivery and the fact that Nie's Pharmacy never provided any instructions about Time Sensitive delivery of medications and what to check for in the case of shipping delays. I was fully justified in thinking that this medication had been compromised and that's why I returned it. I have had other problems with FedEx deliveries from Nie's Pharmacy and I will not do business with Nie's Pharmacy in the future due to their shipping service, that they have acknowledged having problems with, and their terrible customer service for the elderly.

I called ahead, the staff was very friendly/accommodating, and was able to price the medical equipment very quickly for me. I was grateful for how inexpensive the equipment was that I needed and appreciated how very nice the store was kept. They had a wide variety of medical equipment; beds, walkers, lift devices, and more. They also were a full pharmacy with many over the counter meds and first aid supplies. Overall, I was very impressed with this local hometown "mom and pop" pharmacy and will likely return again. Thank you for the great customer services and providing me we a good pharmacy experience!
