First, go during the day. I was in and out. I value the store as it brings a culinary context to Indian cooking with authentic items. The store is clean and very well laid out. I have just been turned on the Paratha and I'm in love. Don't judge my American taste buds. I loved the massive Indian snacks, spices, and frozen culinary delights that I am able to try out.

The box of Anjeer Halwa

I have shopped at Patel Brothers for several years now - it happens to be the closest (150 miles) Indian Grocery store for us, the other one being Cherian's in Atlanta. It pains me to give 3 stars because my overall experience has been good. However, last Sunday i bought a couple of boxes of Indian Halwa (sweets) a box each of Almond halwa and Anjeer halwa. To my utter disgust, the underside of the Anjeer halwa was covered in mould. I tried several times to call the # on the receipt - 704-540-2013 - but was unable to speak with customer service. My call kept rolling back to the voice message. So I sent them an email with pictures of the barfi and my purchase receipt. I have not heard back from them. While i will continue to shop at Patel Brothers, i will definitely take extra care to check their products, especially those in the refrigerated and frozen foods section.

I view Patel Brothers as the same-old Indian grocery store, but with a really convenient location. PB is a chain, with distributors all over the country (and world). For this reason, they sometimes have products that are sitting on shelves for months and months. I definitely agree with people that choose this place over Harris Teeter; after all, the vegetable selection is fresher, more affordable, and WAY more diverse. However, this place gets a 3-star rating because of the overall operation and atmosphere of the store. The workers definitely don't enjoy being there, and Farmers Markets (as well as other Indian grocers) offer better prices for fresh produce. In the end, the Pineville location is what redeems this place, and will ensure it being packed on the regular.

a plastic container filled with food

Sold repackaged box of sweets - inner container was peeled off and box had been deceivingly taped.. Be careful especially during COVID-19 time. Store manager did not return call and refused to talk when I revisited store.

Patel Brothers has a wide selection of Indian ingredients. It's a one-stop-shopping experience.

Beware these people as they sell expired products. When asked, they say "you should look at it before buying". RIDICULOUS.

Love to come here to buy my rice & spices in bulk. Plus the naan is always good. I can always find something new to try.

No real issues with this store that I could find except prices…read more Nice big grocery store with lots of food and neatly organized. Isles are manageable without bumping into produce or anything. My one contention that unfortunately for me, I simply cannot get past is the prices. The store prices are considerably higher marked up on items that other Food lion stores & other grocery stores in area don't seem to share. I cannot pay $3.25 for a gallon of milk when there are stores just down road including a Food Lion where you can buy milk for $1.03 a gallon. That alone will keep me away but also several item in produce area are much higher. It's obviously not a problem for the folks in the area but Walmart , Aldi and even other Food lion stores do better. Even Harris Teeter offers milk cheaper. So there is my why.... but it is a nice store.

So I went in to this store on December 13th and purchased 3 loaves of Canyon Bread, 3 packs of…read moreSpringer Mountain Chicken and 6 Holiday Food Lion boxes. At checkout, I was told that I could not purchase 3 loaves of Canyon Bread and use my 3 coupons as each bread would need its own transaction. The same situation occurred with the chicken. As I was loading up my car, the manager came out to my car and told me that the Food Lion Holiday boxes stayed in the store as they donate them to the police department to give to food banks. I told him that I purchased the boxes and I was giving them to my church. As I was speaking to him he took my cart that I was still unloading and told me I needed to give him the boxes back that I had already loaded. I will never step foot in that store and have filed a complaint against this store and will speaking with district manager soon.
