Some snacks I got at the market!
Liz M.

Great hole in the wall market in a shopping plaza in Pineville. Very authentic Japanese snacks, food, and drinks. You can find just about everything you need to make a Japanese meal... including dish ware, toiletries, and alcohol. I found some yummy snacks and candies and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I plan on returning when I drive back to Pineville!

I lived in Japan for four years and after coming back to the States I dreadfully missed the foods and drinks we had overseas. Two weeks ago my mom stumbled upon this Japanese grocery store. We were thrilled to find they sell many of our favorite snacks! The staff is very kind. I'll be back here often.

1st time here and I can't believe it took me this long to find it! Great selection and for the person that said the prices are too high, they are wrong. I found it to be comparably priced and some things even low priced. The 2 people working were very polite. Highly recommended

I procrastinated long enough on reviewing my lil gem of a Japanese supermarket. Being the only one in Charlotte that I know of, with a great selection and clean shop, I can't stop myself from loading up my cart n even buying a takoyaki pan. From Hawaii, I've bn missing my Asian roots so this peace of heaven hits the spot alright. It's a shop that everyone in NC has to at least visit once to get a whiff of Japan, especially the snack aisle. The only thing that was missing was the Japanese "soft" flour that I was so hoping to find there but it was sold out. That's a "must find" for baking a super soft Japanese cake. I hope they'll restock it someday. So funny but when I use to shop NJ's Edgewater Mitsuwa or Broad Ave HMart, I'd whizz thru quickly but with lil Hatoya being so precious I wish I could be a chameleon hiding on the wall. Now only if I could find my takoyaki recipe!

My cart.

Great selection of Japanese goods. We drove from Charleston SC and we're pleased with all that we found here. Will definitely be back.

I really do love Super G Mart. I frequent both locations -- the one on Independence and the newer,…read morelarger store in Pineville -- and this one feels like a destination in itself, especially with the huge food court. As a transplant to Charlotte for work, I'm always searching for the ingredients and flavors I grew up with, and this place delivers. From the fresh seafood counter -- where you'll find beautiful tiger prawns -- to the endless rows of fish sauce, oyster sauce, and every variety of soy sauce imaginable (sweet, dark, mushroom, Japanese), the selection is impressive. The aisles are thoughtfully organized by cuisine and region, which makes navigating the store surprisingly easy, even if you're new to Asian markets. The frozen section alone is worth the trip. If you're looking for dumplings -- Chinese, Japanese, Korean, even Nepalese -- they've got you covered. And don't sleep on the handmade crepe cakes in the freezer. Yes, they're about $25, but they're stunning and absolutely delicious. Honestly, they rival the famous crepe cakes from Lady M in the San Francisco Bay Area, where those cakes can easily run over $100. At this price point, it feels like a steal -- and you'll definitely impress your guests. The produce section is another highlight. The ginger is incredibly fresh, and the variety is fantastic -- from gai lan and sweet chives to cebollitas (Mexican green onions) and crisp green beans. It's a true sensory experience for anyone who loves to cook. This isn't a trendy, boutique grocery store, and that's exactly the charm. It's old-school, practical, and stocked with the essentials. Toward the back right corner, you'll find pallets of noodles in every style -- Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean -- everything you could possibly need for home cooking. The butcher and fishmonger are also available to help, which adds a nice personal touch to the shopping experience. There's also a bakery inside with beautiful fruit-and-cream cakes -- the kind you'll recognize if you've ever celebrated in an Asian household. Light, fresh, and not overly sweet. And if you're a coffee lover, keep an eye out for Café du Monde coffee -- it's usually several dollars cheaper here than at typical grocery stores. A few friendly tips: * Go with a plan -- this place can be overwhelming in the best way. * Don't bring a big entourage unless they're ready to explore. * And if you visit the Pineville location, go hungry -- the food court alone is worth the trip. Both locations are fantastic, but the Pineville store is newer, larger, and especially fun to explore. Shop curious, cook boldly, and enjoy the adventure.

Had a friend originally from Columbia come for a visit and he loved all the items they had from when he was a kid. We actually had to send him home with an extra duffle bag to get all his goodies home. As a fun activity we did a fruit taste test and all of it was delicious. Love discovering new things. If you are looking for Ramen of all kinds, this is also your spot. Lots of options. Love discovering new things at Super G.

I noticed they even had a lot of Filipino items tons of different hot, sauces, and chilies and just a lot of good stuff tons of options they even sold beer and saki, which I thought was pretty cool. The cashiers were even pretty friendly. They do have a club membership deal kind of like most of our major grocery stores in the area so you can get discounts on future purchases. It was cool. I'll definitely go back.

After…read moreyears of shopping here every single week, I was accused yes, accused! of stealing my own daughter's juice bottle that I brought in from the car. The cashier didn't ask kindly, didn't clarify, just immediately assumed the worst and treated me with blatant disrespect in front of my children. To make matters even more infuriating, my elderly mother who was just trying to help separate our groceries had a plastic divider thrown at her by the cashier, who barked, "If you aren't paying for the other customer's groceries, you need to put that down." Excuse me?? Who talks to anyone, let alone a senior, like that? The entire transaction was hostile, uncomfortable, and humiliating. I was shaken, my daughter was upset, and it was clear this employee had no interest in basic decency or customer service. To top it all off and I wish this was an exaggeration multiple items in the produce section had visible MOLD. I originally wasn't going to say anything I was just going to assume maybe it was a bad time to shop and they just maybe didn't change things over but I started looking around and wondering, how many others have been mistreated...It feels like this place is completely falling apart in so many ways. We used to know this store so well I could list off prices without looking. But I'll gladly save myself the extra out of the way 15-minute drive now and head to Super G Mart where there's better variety, better prices, respectful staff, and an amazing bakery and hot food section. This place? It's become a complete and utter disgrace. I'm never coming back. Ever.
