We decided to try this place for dinner on our last night in Italy after tiring of the usual pizza, pasta and paninis. Because we were both craving greens, I searched "salad" while near the Popolo Piazza and found this small restaurant. Located on a fairly quiet side street with a few restaurants, it was a nice change from the bustle of more touristy areas. In addition, we were able to eat outside and order quickly without a wait.
I ordered a large salad with anchovies, mixed greens, cranberries while my brother had the horse meat salad. The horse meat seemed to be roasted and was very finely grated which mixed in very well. In addition, we ordered the lox, greens, cream and mango flatbread which ended up being the favorite. It was loaded with smoked salmon and toppings.
All the salads come with a crispy, slightly oiled and salted flatbread...a great complement to the salad. I guess this place is known for the Spanish ham, which we did not try as we both were wanting a leaner protein.
My only complaint was that it was rather expensive for salads with a fairly small amount of protein. You will likely want to order a few things to share for the table. read more
