Stopped by today after work to do some shooting. I picked up a Springfield XD a few years ago…read morebecause it's a cheap gun to take when fishing as I get in the water sometimes and I didn't want to take my 1911. I shot around 10 rounds and switched to another gun. Then went back to it a few minutes later and it jammed on the second feed. Live round in the chamber and I couldn't get the slide back to eject it. I forced the slide forward hoping it would seat the round but I still couldn't get it to eject. I haven't been to shooters in about a year and didn't know the guy at the counter. Of course I kept it pointed down range for a few moments incase it was a hang fire. I asked the guy at the counter if he had any experience with Springfield xd. He said yeah. I said I had a live round stuck in the chamber and wondered if he had any ideas. He said I can get it out for you. I unzipped the bag and let him grab it. I understand store rules. He had it cleared in 2 seconds and explained what I should do if it happens again. He took a moment to inspect the gun and the round and said it was good to go. Definitely recommend this place. I didn't expect him to go above and beyond like that. I never have any problems with my non California guns. These California guns have all these extra components like indicators for round in the chamber and grip safety devices. But what can you do?

Jennifer had written the wrong time of the party down, did not reply to my text the day before the party asking if we were still on (because I had not heard from her), and then cancelled on me the morning of the party because she had a cold. Jennifer said she had been feeling sick days prior to the party and yet she did not think to cancel then or come up with a backup plan for my son's party. Incredibly unprofessional and disappointing. Hard to pick any favorites amongst the animals but the little goats were a big hit since they were so easy to interact with. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, and we appreciated the popcorn, cider and water snacks. I'm not sure if we actually found all the items on the "treasure hunt" but they kindly allowed my granddaughter to pick a "prize" anyway and she loved the purple magic wand she chose. One difficulty is that there is no restroom, not even a portapotty. Given the location that is not good as it is quite a distance to get to any place with a public restroom. Another is that there is no way to contact the venue by phone if you have questions. I almost didn't go because I was a bit late and the confirmation I received said that we had to be there at our specific time with no ability to change it. Fortunately my son was able to email them and ask if I could catch up to them on the trail if I arrived a bit late and they responded quickly enough that I didn't have to turn around and go back home (my drive there was two hours).

This was my first time coming to Spenceville Shooting range. This was along the way to Ferry Falls…read morewhere my friends and I were planning on going for a hike along a trail and maybe catch a water fall. We elected to take a small stop and shoot some guns along the way. This facility is closed on Tuesdays between 6-9:30 AM for clean up. Those that use it are invited to bring their own targets but to clean up after themselves. There is a serious lack of shade so bring and EZ up if you are going to come to this facility during the summer. It love that it was free and I was in the company of amazing friends so you couldn't beat the memories being made.

As a first time visitor I noted safety is compromised. I'm rating the place without my safety…read moreconcerns but be aware of these. 1-Weapons are removed and returned to cases other than on the line. This should only take place while the line is hot, and pointing down range while on a picnic tables; not on the tailgate, trunk or hood of a vehicle. 2-I had the only open chamber indicators. 3-A shooter was using metal targets at 15 yards. The range runs to approximately 400 yards. There are about six picnic tables made of a stone material oriented with the long side parallel to a target. If they were bench-rests they'd be oriented with the long side perpendicular to the target with two seats. Whatever you shoot consider having something to cover the area of the table you are using. There are no restrooms. You could be isolated here so if there's an accident bring help may take awhile.
