    Tonnarelli Al Frutti Di Mare

I don't leave many reviews, but Pasta Vino was excellent. I ordered the Tonnarelli Al Frutti Di Mare and it was exactly what I was craving - a fresh seafood pasta. My server was very attentive and was on top of everything, and the restaurant vibe was great. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's located in a strip mall, but don't let that stop you from visiting.

Pasta Vino, is your next Italian restaurant spot to visit! You may not be in Italy, but when you are here, it can be quite similar! Pasta Vino is a charming restaurant just outside of Newport, RI in Middletown. It reminds me of many restaurants in Italy. Charming and quaint, and with a very chic vibe. This new restaurant just opened a few months ago in the Polo Center. There isn't a lot around the area since it looks like new development but I bet there will be in the future. There is a large parking area which is very convenient. We did not make reservations on a Sunday night, but I probably would recommend them on much busier nights. We sat at the lovely and sophisticated bar. We both ordered a few glasses of Italian wine. I was starving so I got an Insalata Mediterranea which was an Arugula salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, and olives. It was just enough for one and very good. I was torn between so many amazing dishes. I ended up going with the Ravioli di Fromaggio which was Ravioli and Cheese with a truffle sauce...OMG, it was to die for. My husband ordered classic Tonarelli e Meatballs (Spaghetti and Meatballs). Also, amazing! He brought home leftovers, I did not! We were so full, but we did enjoy one of their Espresso Martinis and I had their Penelope Bourbon that came right from the barrel. It was good, but I do like my Bourbons a bit sweeter. Our bartender Jeff was excellent and we had the best time. I know we will be back again for sure! If you live in this area, I highly recommend dining here soon, it was too good not to. Cheers~

When a new high-end restaurant opens on the island, we are all excited. This one came as a surprise because it is kind of tucked in a small, mixed-business shopping center. Our friends went here first and said it was outstanding. My wife, daughter, and I decided to try it, and here is the scoop. It is outstanding. Let's start with the interior. It isn't large, but it is comfortable. The bar is large, and it was well thought out. They have lots of old-school photos on the wall, including several Jazz greats. The bar has one monitor, and it plays old Las Vegas Rat Pack and Dean Martin clips. I was in heaven. They have a variety of first-shelf spirits, and the staff can mix a hell of a drink. They also have an extensive selection of wine both by the bottle and by the glass. Let's get onto the food. My wife and I split a Caesar. It is amazing how many restaurants get this wrong. Chilled lettuce, great croutons, shaved cheese versus grated, and an anchovy sauce made this one special. For entrees, my daughter had Fettuccine Alfredo. My wife had the vegetable lasagna, and I had the lasagna Bolognese. It was all FANTASTIC! The flavor of the respective sauces was amazing, but the scratch-made pasta was outstanding. We tried the Tiramisu for dessert...YUM! We also split a Chocolate Martini that was perfection. Best of all, the price was reasonable. Most pasta dishes are in the mid-twenty dollar range. We have been back two other times and it was as good as the first so I wish this business a lot of good fortune.

What a wonderful dinner experience at Pasta Vino! The waiter was so professional and knowledgeable. We started with the caprese appetizer which was delicious. He explained what the gluten free pasta would look like and made it a seamless accommodation. When they brought the dish out, they once again confirmed it was gluten free without being prompted. Our dishes tasted extremely authentic and were well-portioned. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and walked away impressed with the quality of service and food!

Very fresh and honestly, very affordable for the aesthetic, quality, and taste. Plus the service is great. I've had their pastas, entrees, apps, pizza, and drinks and there is nothing you can go wrong with. My personal favorites is their kale salad, chianti marsala braised beef and mushroom tagliatelle. Again, the quality is great and everything is seasoned/ flavored well. Plus their pastas are homemade! They also give free bread, who doesn't love that? I cannot recommend this place enough. We stopped by Bar 'Cino for lunch on the recommendation of a neighbor just away from the madding tourists. We decided to sit outside in the shade on this hot day even though the interior was cooler and pleasant. We ordered drinks - beers, and an iced tea - while we perused the menu. Our server Alexandria was most personable and attentive and was prompt without rushing us. We decided to share a couple of dishes: the Antipasti had a very good selection of meats, cheese, hot olives and grilled garlic bread, and excellent house-made chips. This was followed by a a very thin crusted mushroom pizza which was well worth having: actually quite delicious. The check for the three of us came to $88 - well worth it. I would return the next time I was in the city.

Service was thoughtful and prompt despite the crowds, and the chaos of our party (with several young children), all the food was excellent, and we were particularly impressed / jealous of the three course kids menu. Highlights were the whole seabass market special, scallops with a green bean medley and crab cake (this was a special, but the menu version which I didn't have also sounded delicious), and the roast chicken. There is ample parking in front of the restaurant (paid public lot, NOT cheap -- but beats circling the streets of Newport for X min and being late and cranky for dinner?!?).

We had parked at a lot nearby for $20 a day and walked over for our event, but there is also a lot right in front of the Mooring - I believe it is paid parking but maybe it gets validated (?), not sure. Anyways, when we walked in, it gave me Titanic vibes because of the semi dim lighting, nautical theme, the water across building, and white, brown, and copper colors all around. We were seated at a table inside, part booth, part chairs. Since it was late, I did not want anything too heavy. We started with 4 shrimp which were big and juicy and came with cocktail sauce/horseradish. Next, we shared the calamari. I was happy with the flavor, crispiness, the almost 1:1 ratio of rings to tentacles, and the scattered pieces of fried banana peppers (my favorite!). The sauce it came with tasted homemade and I love that it was more than just tomatoes - there were pieces of herbs and garlic too. The entrees we ordered came soon after: the chicken ($25) and the whole roasted fish ($39). The chicken plate looked and tasted fantastic. The chicken was well seasoned with a solid crispy finish to the skin. The mashed potatoes were very smooth and tasty and the broccolini was lightly cooked in what seemed to be a buttery sauce. The sauce on the outside was spectacular and so was the chimichurri over the chicken. Everything came together really well. The baked fish on the other hand seemed to be the complete opposite where everything did taste fresh and healthy, but that meant compromising flavor. The fish (porgies) was about 8 inches long including head and tail. It was stuffed with some herbs, but it didn't come with any sauce or seasoning. The fingerling potatoes were also just roasted and the broccolini just steamed or roasted with no trace of salt or pepper at the bare minimum. The salad was arugula and I think it might've had thin shavings of jicama, but no dressing. I was disappointed with my meal because of the lack of flavor and creativity; I wished I had ordered the seafood pasta, but it felt too heavy for the time of day. For the ambiance and prestige, I felt the prices were okay. The service is great; we had a kind and attentive waiter.
