That pasta here is made fresh and is very tasty. You add your own toppings for an additional charge, but there are deals in place (buy 2 get 2 free). The owner was friendly. My penne pasta with fresh mozz and veggies was delicious but the garlic bread was forgettable. I also tried to eat there a 2nd time but the owner told me he couldn't cook for the next hour due to the fire department's order or something like that? Pasta Flavio: where it's not all about the Flavor, for better or worse. To be fair, this order was takeout, so the judgment is mainly on the food, and nothing for the ambiance. Service was on time, order was done correctly... we _think_. To be clear: * Don't rely on the menu descriptions. The alfredo sauce, for example, is not the creamy texture you're used to. It's cheesy bits in oil. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. And "truffles" were invisible - just the oil, not shreds of mushroom. * Compared to my favorite local establishment, The Pasta Shop in Denville, the pasta is a noticeable step lower in texture. There are fewer varieties of pasta here than the Shop, but on the other hand, much more customizable plates. The Pasta Shop is set up where you can order from their standard menu or their daily specials, withhold an item if you're allergic. Here at Flavio, you can choose your meat(s), sauce(s), toppings (up to 7, and then I imagine you can choose more at a cost). And you get a lot of meat - my chicken was hidden in the photo, but stirring turned it all up. And it wasn't too salty, and nicely grilled. But the other toppings, you get less. My arrabiata pepper was shredded in very sparse amounts. Struggled to find other veggies. Only a few garlic cloves, tho nicely roasted. Verdict? Will sacrifice quantity (of what can be ordered) for quality and stick with The Pasta Shop. read more

Extremely disappointing experience, especially given the circumstances. I ordered dinner from Pasta Flavio as a special meal for my wife after she had just delivered our baby. I placed the order in advance and received a confirmation email. When I arrived to pick it up, the woman working there acted as though they had absolutely no record of the order, despite me literally having the confirmation. She told me to wait 10 minutes and they would make it. Fine. I waited. About 15 minutes later, she called me over -- not because the food was ready, but to tell me to pay. At that point, I said I'd prefer to wait until the food was actually ready before paying, considering they had already somehow lost a confirmed order and I didn't want to get burned twice. Eventually she took my card without even telling me the total. No apology for losing the order. No acknowledgment that I'd been standing there waiting because of their mistake. No "sorry for the inconvenience." Nothing. Mistakes happen. Losing an order isn't even what bothered me most. It was the complete lack of accountability or basic customer service afterward. Of all nights, I was just trying to bring my wife a nice dinner after she delivered our baby. Truly a hidden gem! We came here for copious amounts of fresh pasta and that's exactly what we got. Their build your own pasta section ensures everyone gets what they want. Had lunch specials at 14 each: spaghetti meatballs, meatball hero and fish hero. Also got garden salad. Salad was well seasoned without being drowned in dressing. Good portions of pepper, cucumber, olives, small mozzarella balls with sprinkling of cheese. We shared, it was generous. They didn't have spaghetti so we opted for angel hair. Sauce was fresh and delicious slightly on sweet side. Sandwich's were substantial and tasty. We couldn't finish all the food, had take home. Support your local businesses! read more

I took a colleague to lunch. The restaurant was empty. The fact that it was empty, is a climb against good food. This restaurant deserves a regular and loyal clientele. The garden salad was generously portioned and absolutely excellent. Mixed greens, flavorful, grape tomatoes, delicious small balls of mozzarella cheese. Dressed but not drowned, the way salad should be. The homemade linguine Arrabiata was perfect. The pasta was perfectly cooked. It had just the right mouth feel for great fresh pasta. The sauce was made of Corsley, chopped fresh tomatoes and Calabrian chilies. it was absolutely delicious, neither too hot, nor too sweet. My colleague had homemade spaghetti with meatballs. These were authentic meatballs, small, not like the softballs characteristic of bad Italian restaurants. The marinara sauce was absolutely wonderful. The pasta, again, perfect. I want to go back to try his other specialties. The service was attentive, the owner, enthusiastic and warm. This restaurant deserves community support. I went there on a daddy/daughter date Saturday night and we had a great time. The food was good, as was the ambience, but the service is what really stood out. There were only two tables when I arrived, one of which is a big party. I ordered an appetizer and a chicken pasta dish. Everything is made in house. They all tasted outstanding! The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the broccoli was crisp. While the neighboring table raved about their food, I asked them how they found out this place. These people said Google reviews took them here. They were just as impressed as I was. They jokingly asked the owner to give them complimentary desserts and the owner did! Great meals and great service. My wife, her best friend friend and I had really wonderful meals at Pasta Flavio today. Because of Lent we all had fish for dinner. The ladies loved their salmon dishes and my filet of sole was delicious. The accompanying soups and salads were hearty and also delicious. This is our third visit to Pasta Flavio and if it wasn't so far from home I'm sure we would be eating there much more frequently. We all recommend Pasta Flavio with hesitation. We were more than pleasantly surprised after our dinner. We ordered multiple dishes including the fried calamari, which was absolutely delicious. The marinara sauce was exquisite and the calamari was fried to perfection with a very unique flavor and great consistency. We also ordered the chicken francese, chicken parm and chicken carbonara which were both absolutely delicious. We also tried many more of their pastas, including the penne a la vodka, Alfredo pasta, and pesto ravioli. Everything was fresh and made to order. The flavor was outstanding. The staff are so kind and warm and make you feel like home. We thoroughly enjoyed the ambience, our food, and our night and we would recommend this place to everybody that we know.
