I recommend the Chef's Giambotta - chicken, steak and sausage with peppers, onions, potatoes, etc.

Pasta Flavio: where it's not all about the Flavor, for better or worse…read more To be fair, this order was takeout, so the judgment is mainly on the food, and nothing for the ambiance. Service was on time, order was done correctly... we _think_. To be clear: * Don't rely on the menu descriptions. The alfredo sauce, for example, is not the creamy texture you're used to. It's cheesy bits in oil. Not bad, but not what I was expecting. And "truffles" were invisible - just the oil, not shreds of mushroom. * Compared to my favorite local establishment, The Pasta Shop in Denville, the pasta is a noticeable step lower in texture. There are fewer varieties of pasta here than the Shop, but on the other hand, much more customizable plates. The Pasta Shop is set up where you can order from their standard menu or their daily specials, withhold an item if you're allergic. Here at Flavio, you can choose your meat(s), sauce(s), toppings (up to 7, and then I imagine you can choose more at a cost). And you get a lot of meat - my chicken was hidden in the photo, but stirring turned it all up. And it wasn't too salty, and nicely grilled. But the other toppings, you get less. My arrabiata pepper was shredded in very sparse amounts. Struggled to find other veggies. Only a few garlic cloves, tho nicely roasted. Verdict? Will sacrifice quantity (of what can be ordered) for quality and stick with The Pasta Shop.

Upon entrance, we were pretty surprised by the lovely Valentine's Day decor for the pop up restaurant. It was a set menu for $70 that included starts with a glass of champagne, appetizer, entrée and dessert. We ordered the seafood salad, calamari, lamb chops, filet mignon, chocolate moose and red velvet cake. Everything was super delicious and very fresh tasting, We had bread brought to our table with olive oil.

ONE STAR -- Heartbreaking Disaster for Our Twin Daughter's First Birthday…read more I am absolutely shocked and heartbroken by the way Calandra's Bakery handled our daughters' first birthday cake. We paid $400 for a custom cake -- and even had to supply our own candy hearts -- and the entire bottom tier collapsed. The cake was constructed incorrectly, the dowels were tilted, and it was sliding off the base. This was not our fault -- this was baker incompetence. The baker was Alida. When we called to report the disaster, the manager Tony was rude, dismissive, and nasty. Instead of helping us salvage the cake, he blamed us, said we should have paid extra for delivery, and then had the nerve to tell us we should drive 35 minutes away, wait 30 minutes while he "fixed" it, and drive 35 minutes back -- all while our twins party was happening. Absolutely unbelievable. After threatening a fraud dispute, Tony finally sent a replacement cake -- which was just a plain white cake with basic piping, looked nothing like what we ordered, and: * Arrived late (promised 2:20, showed up at 2:55) * Our event ended at 3 * Was stale, ugly, and poorly decorated * Had gray piping, not the promised rainbow design When we tried to get an ETA for the replacement cake, Tony did not answer any of our phone calls. When it finally arrived, his attitude was the same -- dismissive and rude -- telling us to "be patient" while the delivery men shrugged at the ruined original cake and tossed it aside. No apology. No compensation. When we asked for compensation, Tony yelled and blamed us, despite the cake being a complete failure due to their mistakes. We were celebrating a once-in-a-lifetime milestone for our daughters, and Calandra's Bakery ruined it entirely. For $400, you expect care, professionalism, and a beautiful cake -- we got disrespect, incompetence, and heartbreak instead. Do not trust Calandra's Bakery with anything that matters.

Where do I even start? We had planned to go to a different Italian restaurant in the area, but…read morewith three kids with us, the 45-minute wait there would not have worked. So, one of our group suggested Forte's. Let me just say I'm glad they did. We called ahead and they said that due to the party size (we are six people; three adults, three kids), we might have to sit on the pizza parlor side. No problem. We arrived and were seated almost immediately. This is where the five-star experience started. Gina (we later found out she was brand new to the restaurant) came to our table immediately and asked if she could get anything for the kids. Genius! Anyone with kids knows that you can't even order a drink until you've addressed their entire meal. We quickly placed the kids' orders and got down to our own. We are a picky crew...each one of us adults has a no-this or a can-you-substitute-that for every meal. We like what we like. Gina was more than happy to accommodate. And more importantly, she wrote everything down. I don't go out to eat to be astounded by the server's Jedi mind tricks and memory capacity, because they almost always mess something up. I want a delicious meal, and I want it accurate. She understood EXACTLY what I was saying. I knew immediately that I wanted the Chicken Francaise, but I saw black squid ink linguine as part of one of the specials and asked if I could have that with mine. She checked with the chef and they were happy to make the substitution for me. Before I go any further, I have to say, this was BY FAR the best Chicken Francaise I've EVER had. The sauce was thick, buttery and lemony, just the way it should be. The egg batter was perfectly crisp yet not overdone. And the pasta was just the way I like it. A touch past al dente. Portion size was exactly as expected. Back to the ordering for a second. My friend couldn't decide what she wanted so she simply said "what do you recommend?" to Gina. Gina offered up her three favorite dishes and my friend, sharing the same tastes as Gina, was able to pick one. She could not have been happier with the eggplant dish she got (I can't remember which one), but she remarked that it was one of the tops she'd had. Gina ensured that the kids' food came out quickly and accurately and made sure everyone's drinks were always full. That's SUCH a rarity these days. She brought more bread when ours was finished, offered up parm cheese when my tortellini en brodo (yummy) came, and again when our dishes came out, and was all around as attentive as you could ever want a server to be. Mind you, the place was PACKED...AND she was working both sides of the restaurant. You would not have known it with the way she handled our crew. Simply put, we came for a dinner we never planned on having there and instead, we were positively blown away by both the service AND the food. I highly recommend this place and I have to suggest that you ask for Gina...you will not be disappointed! I can't wait to go back already! I made sure to tell the managers/owners about all of the above too. So many people only like to complain. Don't get me wrong, I'll tell you how it is when they mess up too, but this was so exceptional, I had to let them know. Mike and Steve happily introduced themselves, thanked me for my feedback and said they hoped we'd be back to see them again soon. Ummm yeah...you guys made us feel like family!
