The last time I ate at Pasta Brown was probably 7 years ago. The service was as well as the food. I liked how they had gluten free pasta on their menu. It was quiet and casual. I was looking forward to going here on my next trip but unfortunately they "have left the building". It's really sad because we really enjoyed this restaurant. My mom and I were in the area trying to find a place to eat for lunch. Since we checked out their menu and saw a 2 meal course for $17.95 we were sold. For starters my mom picked the insalta mista salad. I picked the bruschetta pomodoro. For the main dish we both ordered the spaghetti pomodoro e basilico. Portion size of the dish could be good for two people to share. We decided to only eat half and take the rest back to the hotel so that my dad can try it out. I was looking for Dinner--I walk by the food display Pasta Brown places on a table outside the front door (which is a huge red flag--if you know you know); I couldn't find a table for four people at 3 other restaurants, and against my better judgment, I agreed to eat at Pasta Brown. I order a shot of Whisky with no ice--it was brought to me in a tall glass, one used for soft drinks, with a lemon wedge inside the Whisky and a straw to drink from--who serves Whisky this way!?--I ordered Mussels in white sauce, my wife order a pizza, my mother-in-law ordered a "ribeye" steak and my wife's aunt ordered pasta with mussels. The mussel's white sauce was super salty; the "ribeye steak" looked about a 1/2 a millimeter in thickness, and it looked like it had just left the microwave oven. The pizza was salty, and overcooked--I didn't bother asking my wife's aunt how her food tasted, I could see it on her plate and her facial expression. To summon it all up, Pasta Brown is garbage! If you want to waste your money, appetite, and time, stop by and eat at Pasta Brown!--You will love it, if Waste is what you like when looking for an establishment to eat at. We did not have a great experience at Pasta Brown. Although the restaurant was not full, we were told we had to order mains and could not start with ordering appetizers. The interaction was very awkward and after the manager did okay ordering appetizers, service was lacking and we were not given the opportunity to order anything else. My family and I came here for a quick dinner before some shopping and we're surprised by our food at a maximum of FIVE minutes before our absolutely phenomenal pasta was presented to us! I had the best pasta here in my entire life. And I'm not young. We were a party of four and each ordered a different dish. I ordered the carbonara with penne and it was the table favorite. Everyone kept taking bites of it and wishing they had ordered it even though they also loved what they ordered. We also ordered the spaghetti bolognese and added mushroom, The spaghetti with meatballs, spaghetti alio olio Alice which had chicken, broccoli and pine nuts and of course an order of garlic bread. The spaghetti Alice for short was the least flavorful needed maybe a sauce or something but all were very delicious. It's going to be hard to find a carbonara that good. The inside was small but decorated for Christmas still since we were there Dec 30th, and the staff were so nice. I wish we could have eaten again before we left. After spotting pasta brown whilst shopping in Covent Garden amongst thousands of your usual chains we decided it was the best choice for something a little different. After a busy couple of days we were in need of some good carbs so opted for two courses. When inside we were greeted straight away by a waitress who took us to a window seat and handed out some menus. Soon back she took our drinks order and we ordered. I shared my starter as I couldn't decide between the mussels and the goats cheese bruschetta. Verdict: mussels were the winners backed up by some bread from the bruschetta to dip in the spicy left over tomato sauce. For the main I went for the Brown special-pasta served with sausages in a creamy tomato sauce and parmesan to garnish. Others went for pizzas that looked great and also there was an option to pick wholewheat pasta too! Unfortunately someone in the group did pick just that which then needed to be swapped as it arrived with a normal pasta - the staff were great though and took it back. I tried spaghetti with frutti di mare, which was more spaghetti with mussels and clams in a can, on top of being full of garlic, overcooked and with no salt. This was our first visit to Pasta Brown and there's enough choices in London that I don't think I'll be back for a second. My son had PENNE ROSSO BASILICO and I had the SPAGHETTI ALIO OLIO ALICE and we shared a garlic bread as an appetizer. Wait staff was very friendly and nice. I have no issues with them. It's just the food was nothing great. My son finished his meal as he was very hungry, but he said it was just OK. Mine on the other hand well, I left about a half of it on the plate. It was very dry. The taste of the pine nuts, chicken, broccoli, garlic sauce and all that was good but the pasta was so dry it was not very appetizing. Very disappointing. read more

Our starters were forgotten, and when we reminded the waiter about them after the mains were served, they apologized and served them promptly. Well we found ourselves in Covent Garden on a Friday night and no dinner reservation for 5. Ya. So we were kind of desperate and saw that this place had a free table so we jumped inside. It's an italian joint and when it comes to italian I let my nose be the judge before I even order. If it smells like crappy Italian, you're going to get crappy Italian in my book. However, this placed smelled yummy and our brushcetta and garlic bread apps were lovely. I choose pizza while everyone else choose pasta. Everyone enjoyed their meal but couldn't get any reaction beyond that to report, my pizza was personal pan size, thin crust and okay. I'm not going to say it was wonderful and I probably wouldn't get it here if I came back, but comparing it to some other pizza in London, there's no way to call it bad either. Really I can't say more than this place is your standard Italian tourist style joint and with app, entree and glass of wine, should cost you less than 20 pounds each. read more

Decent Italian restaurant in the Covent Garden area. I only popped in because I was looking for a comfortable place to sit for an hour before going to the opera. Admittedly I was worried that this would be standard tourist fare, but I'd say it was a good bit better than that. High quality mozzarella in the Caprese, and a passable (but not amazing) Bolognese. Service was extraordinarily fast too, definitely suitable if you're in a hurry to get to the theatre. I received my appetizer within five minutes of sitting down, and my main course ten minutes later. After 25 minutes I was done with two courses, had paid, and was ready to leave! I did feel a little hurried, and ended up with more time to kill before the opera, but that's better than being late I guess. read more

Unfortunately I think COVID has brought the worst out of people. I visited said restaurant while visiting the UK and initially thought it was decent u til I returned the following day. As London was going into lock down the next day I wanted to grab some Italian. Observed that there were approximately 3 couples sitting down. I reviewed the menu from the outside as it was posted in the window. Upon entering to be seated I was told immediately that they were closing and that I could Bluewater do take out as they were not allowing anyone to sit. When I asked why were the other patrons sitting the waitress had nothing to say. At that point I walked out but turned around and asked to speak to the manager who was sitting directly in front of the door and immediately advised me of the previously mentioned restrictions I said nothing and walked out. I went across the street and observed them seat a white couple no questions. I will never patronize or refer such an apprehensible business to any AMERICAN visiting the UK totally abhorrent behavior. A friend and I were visiting friends in London last week and as I have had a Banoffee pie obsession since first tasting it in Ireland a few years ago, my London-dwelling friend Googled for me found that Pasta Brown has the best Banoffee pie in the city. We liked the pie and the food so much (but mostly that pie) that we went back again. The first time was a busy night and the place was packed. While we waited for a table, the owner offered us some bread and gave us each a glass of wine, which we thought was kind. I had their namesake dish, the Pasta Brown, which I enjoyed thoroughly. I got my coveted Banoffee pie, and before long my friends ignored their own deserts and starting eating my pie. It was simply HEAVENLY. I am sitting here with a growling belly thinking of that pie. We went back another day, and as I am a creature of habit, I ordered the Pasta Brown again, and another slice of Banoffee pie, enjoying each and every bite knowing it'd be my last taste of this deliciousness as we were going back the the States the following day. Anyway, this time we arrived too late for lunch and too early for dinner, so it was fairly empty. We had the bruscheta (my favorite all night) followed by a Cesar salad, which was the worst I've had in years, then came the tutti de mare pasta, which was awful. The pomodoro sauce was old and maybe not even home made... seriously?? How can you screw up a basic? I make mine and it is way better. Next was our pizza at £20 with four crawfish and 4 anchovies, and the pizza sauce was once again less than mediocre. So sad! Really, really sad! I'd say keep stepping and give your $$ to someone else. The only reason why stopped here is because we were 2 pints gone - wish we would have gone to the next pub instead. The location is great - just at the side of covent garden. The resteraunt itself is loud and crowded. Dont go here for a romantic meal but do go here for fun with freinds. Pasta is good. Tasty indeed. Starters are better avoided. Nearly Seven pounds for a bruchetta with two small pieces of bread - and tomatoes on only one of the breads ... well thats taking the mick.
