Sushi was alright but the general tso and fried rice were absolutely terrible. Firstly, remove "hot and spicy" from general tso's description. Second, even the fried rice was extremely sweet for some reason. I thought I was playing it safe by ordering pretty basic food so maybe next time I could try something else. If you go, just stick to the sushi. read more

My significant other and I tried Passion Fin for the first time today. We both really love Asian food and he is a vegetarian so there were lots of options for both of us. At this point I care less about the quality of food or if this restaurant is brand new ! First, I wanted to use the restroom: there was a bucket of dirty water in the middle of the hallway and water was all over the place. It was so disgusting! I was kind of confused and thought maybe the people who work there didn't notice that mess! But the waiters were standing next to it and nobody cared!! When the waitress came to take our order. It was another weird encounter for me!! She was impolite and rude...she took our order as if she was mad at us. I kept my cool because I didn't want to talk to her boss and cause her to lose her job! It's unfortunate that the restaurant owner(s) might think that a new restaurant and a nice menu is enough to build a solid clientèle and a good reputation. I have to say this, people spend their money for the whole package. It's a hospitality business, it's about welcoming your customers in a clean environment (BTW NEW DOESNT MEAN CLEAN) and treating each customer with respect. read more

Best sushi I've had in a very long time and I'm a frequent sushi eater :) always busy when we visit. Sushi is fresh and well presented.

We came here for a small birthday and we were blown away! The service was superb. Andy, our waiter made amazing suggestions, kept our drinks full always, and had a great attitude. This place was great. At first I walked in and i was a bit worried I wouldn't like it, but I sat down and ordered. My food came and it looked like a gift from heaven. I went in for dinner on a Friday night a few weeks ago. They were busy but we sat at the sushi bar. Service was good but we ordered two different sushi rolls... 1. they were room temperature... almost dare I say warm - personally sushi to me should be slightly chilled 2. they were falling apart and soggy as well. I've been to the other location by Ashburn and it was amazing... I'm hoping it was because it was new and slammed busy... I'll give it another try. read more

Nice addition to Atlas Walk fare. I stopped for Monday lunch and was seated by request at the sushi bar. The cold house saki served in a chilled carafe ($8) was good. I ordered the ahi poke appetizer ($11) as my lunch. It tasted great and portion size was fine for lunch. When I noticed the seaweed salad component was not in the dish, the manager instantly made it right with a generous side dish. The service was very good, as others have noted. All the sushi dishes coming over the bar looked delicious. Worth a visit. read more

We went last night and we enjoyed. We had the Mixed sushi app and it was good. My wife had hibachi steak and I had the general Tao chicken. She really enjoyed her meat and I did as well. Went there on a Sunday afternoon. There weren't many folks in the place when we walked in, but tables were filling as we ate. Our server was very courteous, attentive and nice. The sushi was flavorful and fresh. The place looks nice and should do well. I'll return for sure. read more

Finally got around to try this place and was expecting a lot based on reviews. Unfortunately this was not living up to any of those good reviews. Food was overpriced and bland. Our server was horrible, more worried about getting the check paid than figuring out why we did not enjoy our meal. Didn't even try to get a manager to us to ask what happened or what could have been better. Another server that waited on the table behind us did a much better job and visited their table more that what we got from our server. Sushi was not that great and the hibachi dinner was just bland and the sauces were watered down. We went to try this place based on reviews but regretted it and halfway through our meal we called to get food from Musashi like we normally do for sushi and Japanese cuisine. Greatly disappointed that we had to pay what we did for sub par food. Paid same amount for food from Musashi and got more food and better quality and taste. read more

Just left and that was weird. I tried to order something and the waitress said, "oh, that is raw shrimp". I told her I knew that. The watress then repeated that it was raw shrimp,and pointed out the cookwd shrimp. After again saying that I knew it was raw, the waitress then repeated the cooked option. Frustrated, I just told her to forget the whole thing. I should have walked out but I was hungry and had an appointment. I got two quick rolls and bolted. The waitress also took the chopsticks oit of the package for me and broken them before giving them to me. Seems odd to have the chopsticks in paper but then have the staff touch them. I was uncomfortable. I mentioned something to the manager who blamed a "language barrier". Ok, however, if the staff cannot understand, "I know. I still want it." And not to touch the wrapped chopsticks (which my waitress was the only one who opened the package for the guests) that seems like it would be more than a language barrier. Meh. Sushi is OK for the area but I won't be back. I would rather have OK sushi where the servers do not argue with you. read more

I highly suggest coming here, the lines can be long so get there early. Once we were seated our server was with us right away and service was quick. Food came out very quickly despite the amount of people in the restaurant. The menu has a lot of variety and I suggest the Sushi appetizer and the Tuna Lover roll. read more

This review is about the location in Gainesville, VA. I'm a foodie and I have eaten Asian food in Taiwan and Japan as well as from California to Virginia. I had my first occasion to eat at Passion Fin on a Saturday night with my wife and another couple. I must admit that westernized Asian restaurants are not usually what I would seek out. Passion Fin is clearly caters to Western tastes. The menu is mostly composed of items you would not find anywhere in Asia, with a few exceptions. The miso soup was very traditional. I had the sashimi dinner, which was also traditional. I also had a spicy seafood salad, which I would not expect to find in Yokosuka, it was excellent. My wife had the Redskin roll and the other couple had sesame chicken and a beef and shrimp dish. Mine was very good for what one might expect from a moderately priced sushi and sashimi restaurant. However, what was truly outstanding was the presentation. Momofuko does not do better presentations. Presentation is a very large part of a Japanese meal. Passion Fin is to be congratulated on their effort to make the dinning experience in a strip mall restaurant memorable. I had no expectations going in, but I plan on returning frequently. read more
