I was in Lancaster for 2 days, and stopped by Passenger both mornings for an amazing latte. I just returned from Spain where they know how to make coffee, and my drink here was of the same quality and craftsmanship. It was so delicious I didn't need sweetener, and I am someone who really needs sweet flavor in my Starbucks lattes. Not here! I also tried the chai topped banana bread, which was delectable. Fantastic little 3rd wave coffee shop! A verity of roasts and regions for coffee. They have bottled cold brew both black and one with milk and slightly sweetened. They have a verity interesting tea for drinks and louse leaf bags to go. The staff is very nice and knows how to make a yummy cappuccino. read more

I think passenger stands out among coffee places in Lancaster and PA through roasting some of the most notable and most expensive coffees in the world, and they do it well. And they are always working toward making excellent coffee available for any budget, even poor folk like me who spend their hard earned money on good coffee. Not only is it the excellent coffee that makes me take an hour detour, but it's the staff at Passenger who actively engaged me and took a genuine interest in me and all guests who I witnessed buy coffee. Very nice decor and atmosphere. Very inviting. Very minimalist approach to most things. However, the thing that really turned me off was they refused to make a redeye. So basically a coffee with a shot of espresso they refused to mix that. They told me if I wanted that I had to buy the two items separately and mix it myself. when I asked them whether or not, it was against their sensibility to mix it for me, they said yes. It offended them that I wanted to make a redeye out of the regular coffee and their espresso since they were pretty much different coffee. But as the customer, if I don't care, and that's what I want, they should serve that. but instead, they refused. I think this is a ridiculous policy.! Just about every coffee shop I know will make a redeye for you. Not this one. Go somewhere else and avoid the ridiculous policies. This coffee shop has.! read more

I'm a big Aeropress fan and found it awesome that you could order that preparation method for the speciality beans. You can watch your barista measure and time everything perfectly throughout the extraction. The selection of beans sourced from across the world was great. The place is fairly small, so there wasn't a lot of seating. It's not that cozy, as they go for more of a simplistic/modern design. My coffee was delicious and I wanted to go back the next day for another. On the pricier side depending on what you order. They also have a normal drip coffee and teas. The interior was very aesthetically pleasing; like the place is the epitome of minimal chic. The design was simple and clean with a simple color palette. I don't remember if they have any food item and the coffee option is very simple too. They're not flaunting crazy latte recipes or weird caffeine concoction, but I think the star of the show really is just the coffee bean varieties and the quality of the coffee that they have. I loved flavored coffee and again, I almost got agitated that they did not have any flavors to offer. Every time I've gone it's been pretty busy, and there's not much seating available. Although I enjoy the coffee, it's a bit pricey for me. The Passenger team focuses on a simple menu of artisan coffee styles, but quality yet its practical appearance somehow manages to ace aesthetics making it Instagrammable especially on a Fall day or a snow day (Downtown Lanc in the Fall/snow!my heart!) They also have a selection of loose leaf teas and most of the staff are on hand to answer questions. They also recently started stocking for Four Twelve in Hamburg and Pressed in Hamburg, but more teas than coffee. Due to the distance, I can certainly understand this and am grateful enough I can get it closer to home. When I do want more coffee options by the bag, I head to Passenger's flagship here on King. The only thing that changes is the coffee and tea selections. And the atmosphere is comfortable and cozy to do work or even write a novel about it all. The place to go in downtown Lancaster for a fantastic coffee experience. The coffee here is selected with wisdom and care and presented beautifully. Bar drinks have a wonderful texture and temperature, and the pour-over I tried was bursting with flavor. For coffee lovers this is it. The aesthetics of the space are calming and clean. Whites and light wood tones abound. It's a great space to read and reflect. (Side note: no internet as of this posting, so come prepared for that.) I love Passenger Coffee. The shop is great, but their beans are truly some of the best you can get in Lancaster and, I'd argue, the eastern PA region. Their shop is lovely and minimalist. A few little pastry choices and chocolates, but coffee is 100% their game. I used to always buy a bag of coffee and get a free cup, but for some reason that doesn't seem to happen any more so I'm bummed, but! Not going to stop me from getting our coffee here. I've been coming here regularly for around 8 months and have yet to have a bad or even below average experience. A shame that a handful of negative reviews have dragged down what is unquestionably a 5-star cafe right behind Central Market. Little needs to be said about this place, but the coffee is delicious and the staff is, without fail, so pleasant and friendly and funny (today, I watched one of the baristas kneel down and let a little girl examine the tattoos on her arm - "teacup!") Passenger Coffee is a "cool" place to be for some people, and their branding, logo, decor, etc.. is on point (so cheers to whoever did that)...but as for the actual product, it's just okay. (thus the 3-star "A-Ok" rating)...it won't wow you, and it isn't terrible...it will be solid, but it wasn't the best I've had. To me, it's like a beautifully decorated restaurant with a mediocre menu. The atmosphere is just okay as well. There is limited seating, and the location is far from intimate (right next to busy Market) - which I'm sure is great for business, but isn't great if you want to get things done or just hang out for good conversation with a friend. I didn't feel like I could ever get away from the people coming in and out...but that might be more about layout than busyness...a lot of coffee shops are in busy locations and feel more intimate. Lastly, it's a bit expensive for what it is. You can get a solid cup of coffee at a number of places (and there might be a million coffee shops in this small city)...and while I went once to check it out, I found myself not interested in returning. read more

The shop itself was really cute; I appreciate large windows to let the natural light in, and they had a fun playlist on. Good coffee - my usual is a cappuccino. They had Guatemala in their hopper, which was filled with rich notes of tropical fruits, cherry, and strawberry, though I particularly tasted the cherry/stone fruit.
