Popping in on a July Thursday morning, here's my experience. 1) Coffee: The menu is simple. They have the basics, but that's how you know it's quality coffee. My latte was perfectly balanced, creamy, and highlighting the espresso in it. 2) Food: Their ham and cheese turnover is excellent. They warm it up for you. There are fennel and a few other things on top making it unique. 3) Service: It's excellent! Both baristas were kind, efficient, and warm. 4) Space: It's small, but beautiful. There are a few seats inside and out and a restroom inside.

My standard order is an iced latte with cherry syrup (although a latte with the peanut butter syrup is also delicious). I've tried cherry lattes elsewhere, but Mean Cups is the best. Nice and sweet, just how I like it, and you can actually taste the cherry. There're plenty of seating options, both indoors and out, and a restroom for customers. The service is quick (and not at all mean!). There's plenty of parking in the lot in front of the store. I do wish they had more food options, but there's not much aside from a small selection of baked goods. Luckily, there are plenty of other options in the same line of shops where you can grab some food to have with your coffee.

I typically go at least once a week before work. My order is 1 large hot latte and 1 large iced latte. I like to drink the iced latte before school then fill the cup up with ice and pour the (now room temp) other latte over it. That's how much I love this coffee. The only draw back is that the food situation leaves something to be desired. They usually have some sort of baked good/pastry in the display case, but I always eat breakfast before I go so I've never tried it.

While the tea bar and Mean Cup near me fit my vibe more, more people are here and I wanted to try a different place. They had a special list that I didn't notice- shamrock latte and some other latte. Maybe I can order a little latte-r. I wish it was mentioned or on their website as you can only order the interesting flavors by the bag. The coffee quality here has a richness that is appreciated by many and is well done. I would've preferred the (artificial?) Irish crème to come out more bc I am really a kid.

If I ruled the world I would have an area of counter space for them instead of having one person hogging a 4 top spread out all over the venue. They had bottled peach tea one of us preferred, but I got a London Fog tea and added two packs of raw sugar to make it just right. We split a chicken salad sandwich I had seen on their website menu and it was packed full of chicken salad with a very nice consistency and in need of salt and pepper. Still it was filling for both of us. The sandwich and 2 drinks was about $18 plus tip. Self bussing of tables is convenient and expected. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We both agreed to a return visit at some point. It has an industrial scaled down Starbucks vibe and probably attracts the same patronage. Easy in and out access to the establishment itself but as I said, leaving the parking lot is a separate adventure.

However, I wanted to try a bagel from Courthouse Bakery, but they were closed even though they said they open at 7:00 AM. It was only 7:32 AM when I pulled the door, only to find out, of course, it was closed. So, I did a quick Google search and did my research--as most people do not--and found out that there was another bagel spot right around the corner that also sold breakfast and coffee. Just like a New Yorker, I didn't drive my car; instead, I decided to take a walk to the other bagel spot. Well, I must say, I am not impressed. However, the score for this place is a 3.7 out of 5, only because it's a nice location, the employees have smiley faces, and the place is very clean! There are many people who love a flavored coffee with "fun" flavors and over-the-top lattes with too much whipped cream on top, but that's not my jam. In my opinion, a quality coffee shop is simple and leads with espresso brewed really well where the taste of coffee shines through. Whipped cream, Black Forest Cake, and Cabin Fever mask coffee in my opinion, but many would and should disagree with me. To prove my point, I ordered an iced Aztec latte. I have a sweet tooth, but this was way too sweet. I literally couldn't taste the coffee through all the noise. Again, some people may love this place if flavored coffee is your thing. I do regret not getting the beignets to try which I saw many people eating. My sister got the seasonal pumpkin spice cold brew which she said was good. My boyfriend got a drip coffee for $3 but they ran out at the self serve counter so the barista made him an americano instead. I got the Earl grey London fog latte which was sooooo good!
