I really wanted to like this place, but tonight was a mess. Our first time trying this place. We placed an online order that was supposed to be ready in 45 minutes. When we got there, we ended up waiting another 30 minutes past the pickup time just to get our food. I understand it was Cinco de Mayo and things get busy but that's exactly why it's frustrating. If you know it's going to be that chaotic, why accept online orders without being prepared to handle them? It felt disorganized and poorly managed. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the wait. It was underwhelming at best. They gave us free desserts as an apology, but even that missed the mark, the Scotcheroo was dry, bland, and tasted almost stale. I used to LOVE Pasqual's - I was an Edgewood kid who frequented the original location on Monroe Street, and my friends and I ate there quite a bit. Once they opened the Hilldale location, it became a regular place for me to grab lunch from due to proximity to my office. The Verona location is about the same size as the Hilldale location was, and it's definitely got a cute vibe. When I stopped in a few weeks ago, I ordered my old tried and true - the chicken quesadilla. This used to be my favorite quesadilla around, because cubed meat disgusts me, and Pasqual's is one of the few places I've ever found that uses pulled chicken. The flavor just wasn't what I remembered, it was rather bland, despite the peppers and the hot salsa. The rice was pretty dry, and also lacked flavor. The chips are still fire though - that seasoning dust on them just really kicks it up a notch! Huge fan of those, and I'm glad you can buy them in the store. Maybe it was just a one off, but I am not sure I will be making my way back soon. read more

Service was great! We had a kind waitress even though we came in with less than an hour until close. Good location, and I'd probably return if I lived in the area. Good food and a nice location. The food was really good, and I would certainly have it again. I had the enchiladas with mole sauce. The mole was pretty sweet, but had a nice little spicy kick to it - just as it should. While I enjoyed it, I'd probably go for the red sauce next time, looking for something less sweet. Service was very friendly. The restaurant was very clean and inviting. One thing I didn't see on the menu was any kind of combination platter. Sometimes, when trying out a new place, those combo platters are nice way to "try a few things" with one meal. Here, you'll have to go back and have another lunch to try something different. Maybe that's by design - I don't know. Chips and salsa were not included, which was a little disappointing. Maybe that's the trend nowadays, but I'm used to having that included with meals. Ah well. The chips were decent - they had a little seasoning on them. The mild salsa was good, and the roasted tomatillo was also good. I didn't try the hot stuff - not my bag. I have been a customer of Pasquals for considerably longer than the rude server that waited on us tonight. Insanely loud, and it took 45 minutes for a single burrito and enchiladas. Food is mid tier at best, and the service has been lousy. It's quite apparent that mass producing chips for grocery stores and serving margaritas are their stock in trade these days. The food leaves an awful lot to be desired, no way am I going back after several mediocre to terrible experiences. read more

I visit frequently. The Traditional Margarita, I find, is the best in the area. Menu offers something for everyone. My favorite is the burrito bowl with a couple of corn tortillas on the side. I love their black beans and the rice is consistently delicious . Special requests are accommodated. With a smile! Just ask. If something like a sauce packs too much heat, then I order it on the side. Truly a great staff works here. They remember you and always appreciate your business. It's decent. The drinks seemed to be the highlight for us. The menu I think is more inspired than it actually delivers. Everything is on the bland side, but perhaps appeals to the masses. It feels like Tex-Mex food for people who maybe don't want that sort of experience. All said I wouldn't say the food is bad and the menu is reasonably priced. I thought the Blue Corn Cakes and the 1st margarita on the menu were the highlights of my meal. There's a charge for chips. We further up charges for guacamole and salsa... modest serving size... but tasty. My carnitas enchiladas were OK... not much flavor... mole sauce was alright. Companion enjoyed her fajita salad with chicken. Another companion had a fish taco... and a tamale. Taco a bit anemic... but no complaints otherwise. Took my friend here for her birthday. Was seated quickly with menus. Off to a good start. Ordered a Mexican Coke and a margarita on the rocks and two glasses of water. My friend said her margarita was terrible. My soda was fine. The water didn't show for another 30 min or so when we asked again. Waiter came back to take our order. We both ordered the Pasqual's burrito with chicken. Mine with no tomatoes and with mashed pinto beans. Her's with rice and black beans. We waited quite a while for our food, but they were busy and I know it is a new location for them, so it didn't bother me much at all. Food finally came. The burritos were both good- but mine had a lot of tomatoes in it. Sigh. My pinto bean mash was inedible. There was so much cumin in it, that it was almost gritty in texture. I like cumin, but this was ridiculous. My friend picked at her food, said it was meh, but hesitated in giving specifics. About 20 min after our food was delivered, our server stopped by to ask how things were. I told him about the tomatoes and his reply was, "I understand. I don't like tomatoes either." I also complained about the pinto mash and he just smiled, while looking into the distance and nodded his head. He then stepped away. He didn't come back until he had the bill. Fine. At this point I just want to get out of here. He then proceeded to charge my card for some other table instead of my bill. Ugh. Trying to stay positive because this is about my friend's birthday and not this place. Told the server and he was able to talk to the manager and get my card refunded and charged the correct amount. No discount for the errors in the food. No apology. No chip refills. No water refills. I won't be back. Our waiter acted stoned. Not sure what was up with him. Don't know why the reviews are bad for this place I love coming here. The staff is the best very attentive, young servers, trying to do their best. margaritas on point. I always get the same thing, chips, salsa, guacamole, and enchiladas with cheese Christmas sauce, black beans, and rice. the fajita salad is really good with steak and I like the double taco with shredded beef. My partner and I had been going to the Pasqual's in (Hilldale) for over 10 yrs before they closed that location. We really loved that place. We finally decided to go to the Middleton location even though it's a little out of the way for us. What a disappointment. They over charged us for the Happy Hour margaritas which are now $10/ea. non happy hour price. We were their for Happy Hour until 6:00 pm. Our waiter had no idea the margaritas (original / traditional our favorite) were not included in the happy hour price even though we specifically ask him. He said they were half price during happy hour. When we got the bill we were charged full price for our margaritas. We were also overcharged for our nachos which were extremely greasy. We finally got the Manager to make the necessary adjustments to our bill. He was rude and said the only time they have the original/traditional margaritas at half price is on Tuesdays, however they don't show that on the menu, it shows Tues - Fridays 3-6 pm. We will never go back to this place in Middleton and anyone should avoid going there as well . They will overcharge you because they think they can and you won't say anything.
