Locatelli Rao is a great PT. I have a few bone spurs in my knees and all of a sudden one of my knees locked up and I couldn't move. Loc had me strengthen all the muscles around my knees. After about a month and a half my knees felt a lot better and I was able to get back on the basketball court. His new facility is terrific. Plenty of parking in the Bank of America and shopping center. He has a lot of space to do exercises with all sorts of equipment. He has a private bathroom and cubbies for your belongings. Loc cares about your well-being and is incredibly knowledgeable. if you're looking for a PT I'd really recommend him. read more

Who needs a Dr. when these therapist know how to connect the dots with accurate diagnosis and therapy to get you back to an active lifestyle! I came in with multiple issues from back all the way down to the foot and Lory was very knowledgeable in providing her own diagnosis based off of a few assessments. Lory was very patient with my stubborn issues and would constantly have to think on her feet because my issues may be worse in one area one day which meant she would have to change the program she had planned for me that day to avoid causing any irritation in the other area. She has made more progress in the small amount of time provided than the Doctors I have seen across the board. My case was pretty complicated and Lory was able to get me walking better in two weeks after I have been dealing with these issues for over 6 months. Yall are fantastic and should take priority over Doctors visits since yall know how to connect the dots with complex issues!!!! 5 Stars aren't enough to describe what a great place this is! The physical therapy I was going to earlier just asked me to repeat the same exercise every time I went. Even after about 4 weeks of therapy, I just felt I was not making much progress. So I switch to Pasadena Physical Therapy. What a difference! My therapist (his name was Justin) actually asked me where it hurt every time I went, and he came up with different exercises. After about 4 weeks, I felt whole lot better. What's even amazing was when I got the bill from my insurance company, this place was cheaper!! Dr. Rao has changed my life. Simple as that. I have had a myriad of injuries in my life ranging and not limited to a broken leg, torn knee ligaments and their surgical repairs, torn shoulder cartilage, bone spur surgeries, and multiple high velocity concussions/neck injuries. I was seemingly prone to injury, entering a never ending cycle of injury and pain. I started to develop pretty intense chronic pain from these injuries about 5 years ago. It was so terrible that I started to have pain while laying down and had tremendous trouble sleeping. My body was wasting away, getting deeper in the viscous cycle of chronic pain. I have seen many doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, and acupuncturists regarding this pain. About a year ago I started finally making some gains as I was seeing a PT who was using this shiny new technique I had never heard of before called Functional Range Release (FR), this PT moved away and referred me to Dr. Rao, a friend of his, he met through FR courses. At first, to be honest, I was a bit skeptical because he didn't take insurance, and he's located about 25 miles away from me, which in Los Angeles isn't a simple drive. But I had heard good things, so I checked him out. After about two visits, I started getting relief from pain that I thought I would never get relief from. Not only this, but the relief lasted. I couldn't believe what was happening, after five years I felt like I was seeing light at the end of the tunnel for the first time. And best of all I was sleeping again! There were points where I would fall back into pain, but I would see Dr. Rao, and he would assess and address what was going on and have me feeling better and leading me further down the path to recovery and improvement after every visit. Dr. Rao is a diligent learner, who is always hungry to learn more and understands that no clinician is ever done learning. He is constantly looking to better his skills, refine his practice, and make himself the best Physical Therapist he can be for his patients. He attends many continuing education seminars and courses that teach ways to assess and treat patients that physical therapy school does not, and he continues to practice this material to cement his understanding. When I thought we would reach a plateau with my pain, and no more improvements were to be made, he seeming came out of no where with these brilliant approaches to my pain, like nothing I had never seen, heard of, or thought of before. I've never had my mind blown so many times. He is not afraid of change and adaptation of his treatment techniques and practices, so he is always on the cutting edge of treatment. Something that should be a necessary quality for all healthcare professionals. He would carefully explain to me what he thought was going on in a way that was suggestive, as if to guide me to my own conclusion, to make sure I really understood it, since half the battle is understanding what is going on, so you can have the tools to address your pain and become independent from physical therapy. Dr. Rao has gotten me feeling the closest I've been to 100% that I can really ever remember in my life, in a mere fraction of the time I spent with other clinicians I had seen. Not only has he significantly reduced my pain to the point where I sometimes forget how bad my pain was, but the best and most important of all, he has returned to me my life. I now exercise daily, and am not constantly buggered by the chronic pain, allowing me to live the best that I can. I highly recommend this physical therapy clinic for sports-playing patients! They are also great with all other patients from young to elderly. They show great care for you and are very thorough with their treatment. I had Dr. Blair for most of my appointments and she was awesome! She has great techniques and will talk you through whatever you have problems with such as your exercise program. I also had Dr. Loc and Dr. Jordan who are just as good as Dr. Blair. They each have their unique ways of treating patients and their specialties. I am a professional basketball player and I came into the clinic with aches and pain in my hip and foot. After about 3 months my hip is pretty much functioning at 100%. My foot is almost fully healed as well with the last bit of it having myself getting stronger and continuing the exercise program on my own. I've had chronic neck pain for the past 10 years due to breaking my neck when I was 13 and a bad car accident when I was 26. I'm 36 now and have been on the search to find a solution to my pain for the past 10 years. I've spent tons of money and hours upon hours receiving all kinds of exams and treatments from PT's, chiropractors, a variety of body work including hours of Rolfing, cranial sacral, osteopath work, traction machines, healers, float tanks, MRIs, X-rays, neurologists, breath work, ice baths, sounding, and more getting some relief here and there but never solving the problem. I haven't gave up yet and my research has led me to learning about how FR (Functional Release) can address my joint function and decrease my pain symptoms. This led me to Dr. Loc who is FR certified. I'm so grateful to be receiving treatments from him, I've made more progress with him in the past few months than in the past 10 years. Loc is a genius when it comes to fixing injuries. I don't live anywhere near Pasadena and they don't take my insurance, but I literally don't care because (like the sign next to the register points out) you only have one body to get you through life and it's worth doing whatever it takes to keep it healthy and pain-free. Pasadena PT was recommended by the surgeon who performed my knee surgery (cartlilidge repair and removal of small cartilidge/size of dime). It's been great working with Loc for the past month. Recovery is a slow process (much longer that I anticipated) but I appreciate that I'll have the opportunity to continue working with him to get back to having mobility, get rid of the cane and wearing pumps again! I worked with Loc as a patient for four weeks. My experience of him was always professional, knowledgable, pleasant, and accommodating. His methodical approach to my PT needs have resulted in great outcomes. I would return to this establishment for my PT needs in the future and highly recommend to others. To put things in a perspective: I initially started my PT at the PT department owned by my surgeon's group, where I was handed off to an incompetent assistant after the initial PT evaluation. The whole experience left me feel like I was being processed like a mass-production case in an assembly line without a regard to my rehabilitation needs. I've had many, many experiences in physical therapy with multiple surgeries to limbs. Most recently, I suffered whiplash & back injury from a fall. I happened to this facility by chance instead of returning to the other PT facility I had used numerous times. I am so pleased at what Lory has been able to accomplish. I have had continuous shoulder pain from playing baseball for over 8 years prior to going to the doctor. I finally made an appointment about a year ago, and was diagnosed with Glenohumeral Internal Rotation Deficit(GIRD) and Shoulder Impingement. Since then I had visited two different physical therapists over 8 months that were unable to fix my shoulder. My doctor recommended I visit Dr. Loc as a last hope before considering surgery. I had to drive over an hour for every visit but it was TOTALLY worth it!! After the first visit I felt very confident that he would be able to heal my shoulder. He did a full examination of my shoulder and explained to me exactly why it wasn't functioning properly. He spent the whole first hour working on my tissue problems. Almost all of the manual therapy he did was not even tried by the other physical therapists I visited. The next several weeks were a combination of manual therapy and strengthening exercises. He was continuously watching me complete my exercises, and always asking how I was doing. If there were any issues he would address them immediately and explain the causes of my pain. After 6 weeks I have started throwing again with no pain. My shoulder feels extremely strong and I am confident that I will be able to continue playing pain free. I was told by an orthopedic surgeon that hip replacement was my only option. At only the age of 31 and being extremely active, I wanted to see if there was another way. I was referred to Pasadena PT by my doctor who said they were the best in town. After 6 session, I not only was doing squats and lunges pain free, but also decreased some minor pain in my ankle that I wasn't even going in for. Being an owner of a local gym, I questioned every methodology, exercise, and technique and Chase was beyond knowledgeable, straight forward, and helpful. I usually don't do many reviews unless I am really impressed with a business or service. Let me just say that if you need physical therapy for an injury and want to find a solution other than using pain medication, this is the place to go! It starts with Loc who is the owner, or kind of like the grand wizard. He did an evaluation which was pretty lengthy and thorough which is not something I was expecting. He also referred me to an excellent orthopedic doctor to get a clear picture of my problems. After getting x- rays and the diagnosis , the orthopedic doc recommended PT before anything else. I have only gone 4 sessions thus far and I already feel my body changing. I am truly amazed. Scott and Blair are totally amazing therapists. Lastly, Lauren at the front desk is great at keeping a schedule for timely visits. I hope that this place keeps me away from ever getting surgery. BLACK MAGIC! This is the only way I can describe what happened to me at Pasadena Physical Therapy (PPT). Maybe, "MIRACLE" is a better description. Prior to PPT, I had never been treated by physical therapists. Boy do I feel like an idiot for not going to PPT sooner! In late 2012 I chronically injured my lower back for the third time while moving. Well, I'm a strapping young man full of pride so I did everything in my power to avoid getting medical treatment. After a few months of consistent pain that greatly affected my everyday physical functions (getting out of bed, getting on and off the toilet when dropping a deuce, etc), I decided it was time to see a physical therapist. From the assessment on day 1, to my final assessment and discharge on my last day, my experience at PPT was outstanding. The owner, Locatelli (aka "Loc"), was my physical therapist the entire duration of my treatment. The assessment on day 1 was very thorough. Not only did Loc assess my injury, but he also gathered background information about my lifestyle, current physical activities, and physical stresses from my past. He used this information to assess how my lifestyle has caused my injury and he immediately suggested ways I could change how I do things in order to reduce stress to my body that caused my lower back pain. The assessment was very comprehensive and made me feel like I was being well taken care of. I began seeing Loc for therapy twice a week. In my mind, physical therapy would be a relaxing experience where the therapist would "work" on me...a spa experience. Well I was extremely mistaken! When you walk into PPT, you would think that you just walked into a cross-fit gym. There are medicine balls, dumb bells, an elliptical, a treadmill, the TRX trainer on a wall, and a pretty badass Zero Gravity Treadmill! My therapy sessions were full blown workout sessions! I would workout at the gym prior to going into my therapy sessions and be completely spent by the time I was done. Loc put me through the ringer with various painful stretches, core workouts with medicine balls, and very difficult core workouts with the TRX trainer. While getting therapy you are essentially getting a great workout! Lemme tell you this, what you put into therapy is what you get out of it...I put in some work and the harder I worked the better my lower back would feel. Loc's combination of stretching, leg/core exercise routines, and instruction for home stretching resulted in my injury drastically improving in a short period of time. Pasadena Physical Therapy's staff was also very friendly and professional - interestingly enough since they are all from the University of Spoiled Children! JK! But really though, they were very nice and knowledgeable! PPT is also located in a great spot with super easy parking - there is a non-pay parking lot with plenty of parking spots there. I honestly have zero complaints about PPT, and I highly suggest anyone with any injuries/pain to pay them a visit. You won't be disappointed! read more

I came to see Kerry in the past month to help me manage lower back pain that is from a pre-existing injury and made worse by pregnancy. Although I have only seen her about 3 times, I already feel so much better. She listened to my history carefully and knew exactly what to do to help me. She gave me exercises and stretches that fit into my existing workout routine, which is very thoughtful because I have been to PT before and was never able to find time to do what they asked at home. Also, she has explained the game plan very well, so I understand where we are headed rather than just following her instructions blindly. When I arrived at Pasadena Physical Therapy it seemed quite chaotic, crowded only two chairs in the cramped reception area for patients. I met with Lori for an evaluation. She seemed quite smart but reserved. My first session was kinda of easy didn't push very hard but I thought maybe she is just getting to know me. The second session Lori was working on me and another patient who really needed her full attention. I was given some play doh to exercise my hand for 10-15 minutes and put very close to her other patient and told that an aide would be helping me. The aide was inexperienced and didn't seem to understand the anatomy of my injury. She was doing her yoga stretches and cleaning while I was doing my therapy. The aide would go to the computer to get my next exercise and forget the exercise and would have to run back to the computer. Not sure what kind of training is needed for this job. This went on for 40 minutes. Then Lori took at look at my wrist did some measurements on my progress and did some work on me for around ten minutes . I was not given exercises for home no print out or encouragement to do the work at home. In the future I will be asking a lot more questions about one on one time with the therapist and if aides are used. I was contacted by Loc the owner. He did apologize for the over booking and offer to send me a check for the session. I do appreciate his effort to resolve the issue. read more

I came to PTT with a broken wing. I was assigned to Chase who interviewed me and determined what therapy I would need. I was hesitant and afraid, but he thoughtfully and thoroughly explained the procedures as he went along. I found him to be caring, thoughtful, patient and funny. I also found him to be a good mentor to the various aides assigned to him. The entire staff is very helpful, friendly and caring. They make you feel like you're part of a big family. Blair was very helpful with my posture. Kellie and Jamie were very helpful in scheduling and reminding me of appointments. Also Monica clearly explained my insurance benefits. read more
