Getting rid of a window unit air conditioner and needing a window for my project and Pasadena Architectural Salvage had exactly what I needed... 4 stars!!!! Even if you don't need anything in particular, it's just nice to browse if you happen to be a fan of old historic homes, and the staff if very knowledgable as well as friendly! In addition to windows, there are doors, hardware, as well as lighting and plumbing fixtures waiting for a new home. Homes built today definitely do not have the character and charm that older homes have and Pasadena Architectural Salvage may just be the place to help you find that treasure that helps restorer your older home to its former glory. What an incredible store! It was absolutely enriching to visit there. I felt as though I were walking through a dense, multi-layered museum where I could take home items if I chose--for a price. I have never been in an antique store with this much diversity of selection. I could really see that if I were a wealthy person setting up a household that this would be a place to get unusual and select pieces. Not all items were expensive but many were--there is a cost for buying something of singular uniqueness! Staff asked me frequently to let them know if I needed anything but did not hover at all. They shared that the store has been there since 1979, and the level of selection does show that the place is well established. I heard other customers talking to each other about the store's selection with a similar tenor of reverence as to what I was feeling--magical items at every turn! I wish there had been some clear places to sit down and rest (understandable that we shouldn't be sitting on the merchandise furniture), a restroom for customers, and it to be a bit cooler in there--it was not hot In there but a bit warm. Because of these issues I only looked at 1/3 of the store (took maybe two hours to do this--there's a lot there to see). Maybe that was for the best because I spent quite a bit of money on what I did find to take home! This place is many hours from my house and I will not be able to return to it anytime soon, so I honestly think I will always wonder what I missed seeing. The place is that special. Love to come here and just peruse. Found a couple bakelite light switch plates from the 1940s for my home and some Art Deco knobs for cabinets. Everything is pretty pricey but its a visual feast. Highly recommend just going to take a look, at least to marvel at the craftsmanship of these salvaged beauties. read more

I went into their store with old crystal door knobs that were stripped and therefore not working, and to my surprise they had similar ones, which was nice because they matched some other knobs still in my old Pasadena home. I asked a question about making sure the ones I was going to buy weren't stripped (because they were vintage and this is common) and the owner started getting an attitude with me about it as if I offended her. She got a call and had to leave, so I finished up with another guy that was working there. I ended up buying 4 vintage knobs for around $80 a piece. When I got them home, two of them were stripped! So annoying!! Thankfully, I took them back the same day and they did refund my money. I just wish they had been more helpful when I expressed that concern in the first place and double checked them for me so I didn't waste my time. read more

They offer some wonderful treasures here if you are planning to bring your character home up to par. I walked around to see what they had to offer and they sure have a lot of eye candy in the aisles. This place has a great selection of antique pieces, which is exactly what we needed as we are restoring a historically significant home. That said, I needed something specific to the original design of the home to maintain its authenticity and value. I asked for leaded crystal doorknobs, which I know are part of the original design in our home. The guy who helped us said, "Well, crystal is just glass, so I mean, I don't know what you're talking about specifically. Do you know the difference?" I knew they were different in the sense that they have different value for the house, but I was caught off guard and to be honest, I don't personally know how to tell them apart just by looking, because I'm not an expert, that's why I went there in the first place. It was a really unnecessary, somewhat flippant response. I was trying to do my best to maintain the right pieces in the house, and the guy made me feel a bit stupid for asking for something specific. Multiple times I've walked in and I have been ignored by the lady in the front, although the people coming in after me have been fully greeted. It's actually pretty offensive. What a wonderful find! I needed a back door to replace one ruined by a tenant for a 100 year old craftsman and found a great single lite door with the original wavy glass in fabulous condition. They even found double lock hardware that fit like a glove. The selection of knobs was so extensive it was overwhelming, but Wendy helped me work through it with great suggestions. This is definitely the place to go for doors, but also windows (stained glass!), mantles, lighting, even vintage bathroom fixtures. The have great one-off pieces. I saw a terrific victorian mailbox, but alas it was sold! Wendy said the vintage outdoor sliding metal chairs would not last the weekend, so if you are looking for something special, they will put you on a wishlist and call if something comes in. I stupidly forgot to bring a blanket or bungees for tie down in my truck, but they found some old tiedowns in the back and kindly gave them to me so the door would be stable on the way home. Worth the trip from Long Beach. I will be back, for sure. (And return the tie-downs!) read more

The inventory is massive and the staff is super-friendly and helpful. I want to give a shout-out to Jerry. We needed some advice about plumbing parts on an old sink, and he went out of his way TWICE to help us find what we needed. He spent a lot of time with us and patiently made sure we got everything we needed. He really knows his stuff and is very generous in sharing knowledge. Walking inside this place is like stepping back into time. From glass doorknobs, to old hardwood doors....lovely stained glass windows...they say everything here is pre 1930 which means for some pretty cool stuff. A great selection of antique hardware, salvaged doors, fixtures, sinks, etc. Like every other antique store prices are high. They also carry a little bit of furniture and stained glass. Ok this is how it goes... My husband and I love the rustic look. We are in the process of remodeling our kitchen, laundry room, and the last of our 2 bathrooms. We were in need of old windows to use as an accent on the large brick wall that we are building for the kitchen. We decided to search the web for " old windows" and came across this wonderful place that sells antique and rustic design elements for both home and office remodels. We went to check the place out and were greeted by Gayle, the owner. She was beyond accommodating. She walked us through her shop with so much energy, information, and inventory. We did not know which one of the windows would work for our house. Gayle allowed us to take home 4 different windows without charge so we can decide which one of them we like best. We fell in love with the perfect model and returned the others to her, hassle free. We really appreciate her customer service and impeccable people skills.
