Well, I was hoping to be able to write a raving review, but unfortunately my experience at Dynamix…read morewas nothing to rave about.
I booked an appointment here because I was wanting to find a hair salon closer to my home. I've been going to the same person for many years, but the drive had become a bit far for me, especially after we moved to the north Carrollton area.
So, when I called to book, I was told to show up at noon and I would see the next available person. I thought that it was a bit odd that I wasn't booking with one specific person.
I was only there a few minutes before I was called by Amy. She was very sweet. She sat me down to ask what I was wanting. I was scrambling to find a photo while explaining to her that I had been growing my hair out for over a year, had naturally curly hair, and just wanted my bangs trimmed, a little tapering around my face, and to keep as much length as possible with long layers. This was really just a trim as to what I already had. She seemed to be in a hurry and didn't want to wait for me to find a photo. She kept saying that she knew exactly what I wanted and ushering for me to go to the wash station.
I told her the chair at the wash station was hurting my back after I laid back, but she didn't seem to care. She looked at the area, but then had me lay right back down. I told her again that it was hurting my back. There was something really jabbing me. I thought, oh well I can handle this while she washes my hair. I had no idea the hair washing was going to take a REALLY long time. I was in so much pain the entire time! I guess they believe in washing, massaging, washing, repeat. It was not enjoyable at all.
Well, the haircut took FOREVER. I've never had anyone take so long to trim my hair and cut it the way she did. I questioned her throughout the process about the length, etc., but she kept saying she wasn't cutting off but a little that needed to be cut. Anyway, she would cut, blow dry, cut, use a hot iron, cut more, more hot iron...on and on. I left out of there looking like a skinned rat with flatter hair than a sheet of paper. I went home, washed and conditioned my hair, only to find a HUGE mess upon my head! The long layers I wanted started about 2 inches from the top of my head. My bangs were halfway up my forehead! The sides of my hair that I wanted a little framing around my face were cut short, thinned out, and far back. Once my hair dried, I was left with a poof of hair on top and scraggly long pieces of hair. I'm not one to cry, but I will admit, this got to me. I had worked so hard on growing my hair out to be thick and healthy only to be left with this. The next morning I called my usual stylist and made an appointment with her to try and fix my hair in some way. When I saw her, she said it looked like my hair had been really textured, which you don't do with my curly hair, and that the layers were definitely short. She had to cut my hair off to shoulder length and start the reshaping process.
Because of this experience, I will never trust another hairdresser and will not be attempting to grow my hair out long again. It was just too much effort to begin the process over. I've been bald from chemo treatment for an incurable cancer, and I wanted one last time in my life to have long hair in my older age.
If you've read this far, then you might have guessed, I do not recommend Dynamix Hair Salon.
