But if you're looking for the best selection of party supplies and pre-made Halloween costumes, Party City is the way to go. It's okay. Good luck with the helium shortage. On a plus note it's not their fault. Obviously as a consumer you have a lot of power. It's up to you where to shop, and often items are cheaper than here. This is a party specialty shop, so that's probably why. They definitely have great costumes during Halloween. Very nice employees. As far as the store goes, they do live up to the name. There are some quite funny novelty items. Also amusing cards, even more so when you're friend/relative is getting older. Some of their products are reasonably priced but a lot of them are way overpriced, like stuff you can get at a dollar store but they make it $10+. However, I am happy with the service. I got balloons that deflated in less than a day, but the staff happily replaced them for me. read more

It's 50/50 here. I'm not quite sure why every single time I order ahead the staff forget something or I have to remind them what's in my order. They stash it somewhere in the store and when they find it they eventually miss something. When you order 30 balloons you don't count each one and you can't remember the specialty ones so it's a shame. But the staff are super nice and friendly. They just forget your order. read more

Customer service is average. Nobody really smiles or does anything extra, they seemed stressed out, honestly. I tend to come here for seasonal shopping. Mainly Halloween or around other holidays to pick up holiday theme items. They have a wide assortment of decorations for parties, ornaments, and things to spruce up a costume. Check for coupons online before you shop and understand the return policy. The prices are a bit much for 1 time Halloween wear, but I'm not that creative. There was a time I needed a job in my early twenties and I remember applying for several different jobs. One of these place was Party City. I had some work experience, but apparently not the kind of qualifications to work at Party City back then. Yesterday I stopped by Party City to look cards and tape to send to family members. Looking around the store was nicely stock in most areas, but it got me thinking about working now at my age. I know I would have been bored out of my mind and the pay most likely would be enough to keep there. This is a job I see school mostly school kids doing. The staff members I saw looked like high school though I could be wrong. There was a section where the had various colors of tights, wigs, masks, makeup and beads you can wear. My mind saw people wearing these expressions less makes while circling some one in a giant maze in the dark. My mind is thinking about CSI NY...I forget the name if the episode. I just know Mac Taylor's (Gary Sinise) son is attacked in this episode. Although Party City might have a lot of stuff for kids and adults, we decided to look elsewhere for the type of cards we wanted. Usually a very good place to get balloons; however, this last visit didn't go as planned. Got home and realized they didn't properly seal the end of one of the 12$ Mylar balloons. This 33$ set of balloons ended up with a partially filled number. I tied the end a little higher up and I hope it's still inflated tomorrow morning for the party. Adding insult to injury I also paid the extra fee to make the balloons last long. read more

I ordered Big Heads off the website. It said that the deliver would be between the 16th - 19th. However, I was just told they won't be here until the 23rd which is after my event. When I reached out they basically said sorry not our problem. So not only will I not have them for my event but I will be paying for them and probably never receive them because we are at a temporary location for the event. I get that the double door or vestibule design is great for climate control but you gotta make it a little accessible to your wheeled clientele. I've shopped here several times and found the employees to be helpful and pleasant, way beyond what I'd expect for a store like this that's focused on value and quantity, not necessarily quality. Zeke is the man. I went in one evening with my middle schooler looking for a specific costume but unfortunately, they were out of her size. As much as she wanted that costume, she just couldn't bear leaving without having a Halloween costume in hand that night. That's when we met Zeke. Zeke first suggested if she really wants that costume to call or come back on the shipment day and check for her size. Zeke noticed that my little middle schooler wasn't so keen on that idea and really wanted to pick out something that night. That's when Zeke when into next-level customer service. He began pulling costumes that were in line with the theme she was thinking of. In that time, he juggled several customers all while making us feel like he was our personal customer service representative. He was amazing. I managed several different types of business and have been in Leadership positions for a decade or more and I know natural leaders when I see them. If Zeke isn't in a management role, he should at least be in the process of obtaining that title. He is an asset to your establishment and should be recognized for his talents. In most Party City stores, you will be hard-pressed to find someone to assist you so when I got that kind of customer service experience from Zeke, I had to Yelp about it. We ended up leaving with the perfect costume that Zeke recommended and convinced my little one why that particular costume was more indicative of the character and would be easily recognizable. He even suggested accessories that looked best. We purchased everything he suggested and a few more items. The next time you visit, ask for Zeke! You won't be dissapointed. read more

I love party city because it can meet your needs for balloons, party supplies and halloween outfits. I stopped in today to get a get well balloon, stuffed animal and card. The balloon department as has been mentioned by others can be tiresome. I wanted one balloon and it seemed like an decade before I could even get one balloon. They were swamped with orders and kept popping balloons when putting into bags for customers. The parking lot is quite crowded due to people going to other businesses within the strip mall. Party City has yet to disappoint me. This location usually has half the store dedicated to the current major holiday (Halloween, Christmas, New Year's). The other half has aisles for themed birthday parties and general party supplies. Right before Halloween this location gets crazy. I'm clearly a glutton for punishment and a drained bank account because each time i've used my credit card at this location, my bank account ends up drained soon after. Could very well be a coincidence or some shady business going down, I am not sure.... But quite the coincidence that this happened the last time I shopped here too. I've just spent time on the phone with my bank dealing with the fraudulent charges on my account for large item purchases I did not make and a bank account reading ZERO. How embarrassing showing up to a register at the grocery only to be declined and a cart full of groceries.. I now get to wait 7-10 business days for a new card, and have to change all payment accounts linked to the account. What a hassle. As for the staff there, I would have to agree with everyone who says they are terrible. Not all of them are this way, the guy who helped me with my child's costume was very helpful actually. But at the register the lady who rang me up - who is a long time employee there - acted like she had a chip on her shoulder. She was less than friendly and gave me the wrong information about the costume I had. When i tried to explain otherwise, she kept saying her part over and over until another associate came over to help. Then she mumbled something about being so ready to take her break. I tried to just be friendly and keep things light.. didn't matter. Going to Party City on a Saturday evening two weeks before Halloween, I was expecting the worst. I had visions of sold out costumes, harried employees, and lines out the door. Luckily, none of that was the case. All of the many workers were friendly and eager to help. Though I did see that some costumes were sold out, there were still many many options. The individual costume accessories were well-sorted, and I was presently surprised by the fair costs. $2.99 for a cat tail or ears? No problem. I certainly didn't feel over-charged. The best part was the uncrowded feeling. We had gone in rather late at 9PM, but because of their extended Halloween hours, they were still open. Yay! I went in to reserve two helium tanks so I could inflate balloons for a party. I was told by the clueless staff that I didn't need to fill out a reservation form, just write down my name. Two weeks later, as the party day is approaching, I call to confirm that my helium tanks will be ready. The response: "Well, did you fill out a reservation form?" At that point, I said screw it and went to an independent party store in Falls Church. They were very helpful and had the helium tanks I needed. My first time at this Party City location. The customer service I received was exceptional. Three different sales associate displayed great customer service skills without having to requested it. I was with my toddler and I'm eight months pregnant. The last place I wanted to be was at a retail store, don't need her to pick up some halloween decorations. Everyone in the store was wearing a mask there was hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes at the front entrance. I must have been struggling trying to carry my daughter afraid of putting her down, but one of the sales associate ask if she could help me by carry some of my bigger halloween items to the front checkout desk. Which I was extremely grateful for! Upon checking out another sale associate asked if she could help me with my items to my car. I was thrilled to accept the help! I hadn't thought how I was going to carry all my items to my car. A line started to form and she quickly called another sale associate to help me with my items. The third sales associate helped me carry all my items to my car and was pleased to do so upon request from the cashier. Just great customer service experience! Party city has a lot of junk, now ah days u have to buy costumes online, and pay for shipping for the good stuff. It's not just party city that stinks other places do too. Party City is and will be the place to go for all things you need for the holidays and parties. I've never had problems about the products they have, except for the costume prices $$. Overall it is a fantastic place for quick, kind of cheap, party supplies. The reason I only gave it 3 stars is because of the service. It is probably one of the worst places for customer service. I've hardly ever had a friendly associate assist me. When you ask for something, whether their busy or not, they help you in an audible huff. Once you get what you were looking for the associates working the register are not much more pleasant. I tried using my credit card and when it wouldn't swipe I apologized that the stripe might be worn out she asked, "What's wrong with your card lady?".. I tried to be polite although that was her job and kindly apologized again and laughed it off while she continued to talk loudly to her fellow associates about how this has happened to her five times the day before. I couldn't help but stand there awkwardly along with her associates who were giving me looks like "she's always like this". I tried calling the store owner and district manager of this location and the lack of communication and them willing to call me back is ridiculous. This location is a franchise and not cooperate own so cooperate couldn't help me. I went in this location on October 31st at around 1:30 and got the worst and most degrading attitude by one of the cashiers. She was so disrespectful that she shooed me away like I was some animal when I asked for help. Mind you I am a black Muslim women and the cashier was white lady. When the customer behind me came up the cashier was so nice to her only because she was another white female. I have multiple attempts to corporate I am waiting for them to call me.
