Usually you feel so rushed at these dinner/shows but we had plenty of time. The food was very good and there were choices that should have made everyone happy. I cannot say enough good things about this performance!! We absolutely enjoyed it. None of us had ever been to a Murder Mystery before so we were ready for something new! The 2 Cast members were amazing! They kept us entertained and laughing the entire time! At the intermission, they have coffee/tea and desert at the same time. We appreciated this because you're always too full to eat desert with dinner but this gave everyone plenty of time to be ready for the delightful carrot cake they provided. The 2 Stars also stood around after the event to talk to everyone and take pictures! I highly, highly recommend this event! What made it even more special was that I was able to take my 15-year-old also!

After that, I have to say things went off the rails a bit. For a start, this is the first "theatre" that had no stage. Not a small stage, no stage at all. We found ourselves, a group of 30-40 people crammed into a large room on the second floor with barely any room in July with AC so weak it was never below 76F. Then the show began. I was expecting a curtain to rise and a stage to appear, but sadly all the story and acting was done between the tables. I will say the acting ranged from surprisingly good to the obviously inispired acting of the audience members who decided to join in. The story was comedic and easy to follow, with references to Sherlock Holmes and even Indiana Jones. Sadly the heat and the terrible location without a stage made it hard to enjoy when the cast is constantly moving around. If they get a proper venue, I am sure they do wonderful things, but this was more like a test run. That I paid for.

Chairs section face the stage and are set up as first come, first sit. Side Chairs are similar, but you are located on the sides at an angle, and it is also general admission as well. The Lawn area is just that - the area of the lawn to the sides - bring your blanket or low chairs and enjoy the show. As you arrive for the show, you will need to park in the designated areas mentioned by Olney Theatre Center - before each show you will receive an email with this information. Have your tickets ready as you will need to show it to some employees positioned under a tent near the Olney Outdoors area (this is behind the theaters). Want to snack on something: They do have beer, wine, cocktails, mocktails, non-alcoholic drinks and a few snacks available for purchase - Menu is available at their stand. I attended a performance with a band called Orquesta Manplesa (listed as DC's newest and hottest salsa band) and I loved that a dance floor was provided for people to dance on. For that type of music, it is hard to dance on grass. Salsa lessons were provided by Salsa with Silvia during the performance and many took advantage. It was my first time attending. I had so much fun that I went back for another show soon after - Marshall Charloff & The Purple xPeRIeNCE which is listed as the most celebrated tribute to Prince. It certainly was as I had the best time ever. Happy Dancing!!! Tip # 1: Doors open 2 hours before each show. Tip # 2: Check the FAQs before attending. Visited August 2025

The 2-hour show (with intermission) was entertaining with the setting in New Orleans. This little theater had several pluses. First, the interior space is cozy and provides a fun vibe of live theater in which audience engagement is part of the experience. Second, it's only a few blocks away from restaurants on King Street. Street parking is not difficult to find if you arrive early. Third, the overall quality of individual theatrical performances was quite good. All the performers seemed to have regular day-jobs, but love theater for its own sake (perhaps from college). The only minus is the theater seats are very close to each other (think ballpark). Thus, if you happen to sit behind someone who is really tall, it may require a bit of peeking around to see parts of the stage. Hopefully, the folks in front of you will not be tall. Would definitely return for a future performance.
