Saw my review of DQ on Lincoln Avenue and thought you located the poorest operated franchise in North America? I did. However, what are records for? To be broken. The Party City location on Fullerton is the Dairy Queen of balloon stores. Oh. My. God. Never once has the order been ready at pickup. Half the time the order doesn't exist in their system. And EVERY time it takes 30+ min to pick up whatever you already ordered to save time. Last time I was there someone had ordered 45 balloons. The one person manning the cash register was also the master ballot blower. So the rest of us in line just had to wait. Thank for the 8 people in front of me only had 10-15 balloons each. If I didn't love my children - I would never be back. Their love for balloons is legitimately the only thing that could put me back in this store. I wish someone to organize a reality TV show with a battle between the employees of Party City Fullerton and DQ Lincoln Ave to see who's the winner. I have a feeling that show would never end bc it would take too long to get started once instructions are laid out. *deep breath*. Thank god it's another year until the next birthday. read more

Every once in a while, everyone needs a party store. I stopped in one evening to grab a few things for a birthday. I ended up getting the things I needed but wished there was a larger selection. What I did end up purchasing ended up being perfect for the occasion. On several visits I have interacted with a man out on the floor. It looks like he is stocking shelves or organizing. He is always very gracious and stops what he is doing to show me what I'm looking for. His friendly, helpful and professional demeanor really makes a difference. Located within a large shopping zone just off Fullerton, it is very convenient to make a few stops for other things you might need. The huge parking lot is a bonus too! read more

Not sure where to start. I'll start with the good. Always a selection of things, they realty are "out" of an item. However, on the flip side. Their customer service could be better. Their balloon service is the worst. I was told I needed to wait 2 hrs for balloons on a Saturday. I was given a long explanation of why...1500 balloons in orders. Great for business. But not my problem as a customer. Sounds like a logistical systemic problem...as in, manager hire yourself another balloon maker so you can keep up with customer needs and expectations. Party City is a good store where you can find all party stuffs. In here you can find everything you wanted for a celebration. You can freely choose whatever you need and want. You can choose from various designs. They have a lot of balloons in different colors and designs perfect for any celebration. You have to communicate with them about your order and there is a good customer service and the staff are professional. You can pick up your order but sometimes it takes a little time but understandable especially if you order a lot. read more

I wanted to take a minute to thank Ms. Tina for all of her help. It was the end of her shift and I had a balloon order that I wanted to place (for delivery). The register she was working at was having issues and so it was taking a super long time for her to place the order (NOT HER FAULT!). She did not, not one time, complain, fuss, or got upset at the situation. She handled it like a pro and with a smile on her face! I know it can get frustrating trying to work through a technical issue but she was so pleasant that I didn't mind waiting until she was able to work it. She is a joy to have in the store - AND she was training people which was probably frustrating since she was leaving for the day. She's a champ and I appreciate her! read more

I have ordered some birthday balloons a day before the event after 3 attempts it went through (online) Day after I received an email right before picking up the order saying that half of the order is out of stock. Arrived to the location, there is only 1 employee i the whole store. Waiting in line for 17 minutes to found out that I made a mistake in the number of the balloon, the very "nice" lady said that I have to pay for a new balloon- I don't care just let me go, guess what, I need to wait until the line will be cleared - terrible service read more

I swear I have a point by starting off my review this way, so bear with me: I used to work for Party City for 3+ years in high school and during some of college, and while it was fun, there was also a strict script we had to stick to while working the floor. We as staff were also aware of the tricky wording we were given when referring to sales and special pricing (ugh, MSRP-vs-Party City pricing -- if you've ever worked there, you know what I'm talking about!), and Halloween time was busy and sort of a living hell for us. The reason I start my review with all of this info is that when you keep this in mind, you might understand why staff members at any Party City location seem cheerful... yet also sort of depressed. But it's not their fault, it's the heavy corporate rules that hang above their head. So please be forgiving when you're in a Party City! OKAY, NOW ON TO MY ACTUAL EXPERIENCES HERE AT THIS LOCATION. :) I frequent this Party City for last-minute items for Yelp Elite events, because Party City often has just what I'm looking for. I've purchased chafers for a seafood event, mini chalkboards for a paint event, paper goodie bags, candy, and toothpicks. Most items I've needed for a party or event in the last year or so, I've driven here to grab them. This is rare for me to say, but a lot of the negative reviews on this page are accurate when it comes to MIA staff members -- I've never been asked if I need help here (however, that doesn't make me mad because I actually prefer to not be greeted or spoken to while I'm running around buying things off my shopping list!), and every time I've approached someone here, they do not look thrilled to be interacting with me. The lines at the registers also always seem to take eons. However, if you take into consideration the beginning of my review, maybe you'll have a bit more mercy on the staff here. The corporate rules of Party City are a nightmare. Sure, I haven't worked there in about 10 years, but I *do* remember several meetings where we were told that we had to stick to a script, and if we EVER went off-script, there was a chance we'd get a low score during our "secret shopper" test, and therefore get into trouble at work by our boss. These tests were just someone coming in from corporate as an undercover shopper and interacting with staff/giving us a hard time to see how we'd act, and then we'd get a grade in the mail. A nightmare, right? RIGHT. Makes you not want to interact with anyone at your job. TL;DR: don't come here expecting the best experience of your life, but be merciful to staff here -- if you're unhappy, it's more than likely that it's not the immediate store employees' fault. read more

You know how people complain about the DMV being a portal to hell? That's how I feel about this place. There is never anyone on the floor to help answer questions. If you DO find someone, they are so surly and miserable. Then, get ready to wait your ass in line forever. There will always be one person ringing. Always. Even with 9 people standing in line - one sad person ringing you up and taking forever. I had to buy stuff for my son's birthday party (note to self, next time Amazon 100%) and they only had half the stuff I needed. I said - do you get shipments during the week? Yes. When? Nobody knows. Can I call to see if you have the stuff I need in a few days? Ok. Good luck calling! It will ring 10 times and disconnect. I tried for 2 days. I swear, I should have known better than to shop here. Wish I could give zero stars. Called 5 times, with no answer. Went in person and was told to fill up 2 balloons it would be an hour wait. When asked why no one picked up, said only one person working. There were about 7 people and 3 of them were gossiping at the balloon counter. Customer service is ridiculously bad. read more

I walked in the front door to have a life-sized animatronic version of Jason swiping at me with a machete. I walked out. When I gathered myself, I returned in but walked away from the mass murderer the workers at PC thought would be 'fun' to greet customers. Party City: Where we hate you and want to kill you. I get it. You're angry. But, Jason at the door is a bad business model. I found the store to be a jumbled mess. The aisles were very cramped, the carts were miniature (I guess so as to navigate the small aisles) and the workers were uncommunicative at best. Maybe it's me. The "party" in Party City denotes a modicum of fun. Everyone here seemed so miserable. It was contagious. Not that i need an excuse to get my "Ex-cah-use-uh me" on, but I went from ho-hum to [redacted]-i-will-cut-you in about 15 seconds. All I was trying to do was buy some helium tanks and balloons. Service just got a whole lot better! I was constantly approached by employees with offers of help finding anything! And the checkout dude answered a phone call, was super polite and helpful to the caller, and polite in his apology to me for answering it. I picked up a bunch of Star Wars decorations for my son's upcoming Birthday celebration and a whole bunch of fun candy and Halloween doodads for the kids' takeway bags. If you are planning a party or an event, this is definitely the place to visit. They have all sorts of stuff for birthdays, weddings, sweet 16, mardi gras, chinese new year, st. pattys, valentines day, superbowl, and even christenings! For these events they have favors, decorations, hats, and table settings. They even have aluminum trays for buffets. Prices here are pretty reasonable. I came here looking for a bridal veil for a bachelorette party. Unfortunately they were out of stock! I would suggest calling ahead if you are looking for something specific. They had an ok selection and I found what I needed, but I ended up leaving after waiting in line for 20 minutes. There was only one cashier and it was taking forever even with only one customer in front of me (who was being extraordinarily difficult). Employees seemed miserable, which is fair-- I can only imagine that their wages are abysmal and the store seemed super understaffed. I went into party city after having a failure with a smaller flower shop. All I needed was 12 balloons, nothing fancy. Lisa, the happy, energetic, and friendly store employee helped me. And I was picky, so I'm thankful she was nice. Then, I had to return the balloons (got them for the wrong day) and the store manager (Mary) was very polite and helpful. I returned to make the order for the correct date, and the service was excellent again. I didn't want to like Party City (you know, 'the man') but I have to say that their helpfulness and a good attitude made me like the staff and experience. read more

I came in on a Saturday at 4 pm to grab last minute balloons for a birthday party I had that night. It was super busy and there was a 2 hour wait to get balloons blown up at the time. I let the cashier Tina know I wouldn't get the balloons since I unfortunately didn't have the two hours to wait for them. She ended up blowing the balloons up for me in between customers so I could get out of there on time and with the balloons I needed. Tina was super helpful and had great customer service! read more

Needed some balloons for a party and went to party city. Once there the balloons are right in front by the registers. There are plenty of sizes and shapes to choose from and as soon as we paid we got them filled with helium. They told us they would last about a day and they did lasted for that entire day. DO NOT go here if you need to buy a costume - it is much cheaper to order from them online and pick up, amazon.com, or drive .1 miles to the Costco. I learned this lesson the hard way by thinking it would be nice to not buy online and support a store -- instead paying $100 for the same costumes you can order online and pick up from this store for $70, or even buy at the Costco for $36. I wish I could give zero stars. They don't even care if you call them and ask them to at least honor their own price. Save yourself some money and order online. They clearly don't care about people actually shopping in their physical stores instead either. read more

Came here today and they were SWAMPED. Lines were long and the customers were being so rude to the staff. This post is to say good job to the staff who stays so professional with all the people complaining (the whole time I was there it's all I heard). It's a Saturday and everyone orders balloons. This location has totally went down hill. Came for balloon order, specifically requested high float, colored string on colored Ballons. Epic fail! Paid for each ballon today have high float (makes latex Ballons fly high longer) and ALL were on the ground by next morning. Waited 40mins , line in store was length of 1 entire shopping isle... yet cashiers available are only 2 and slower than ever as scared to make a mistake. Mistakes Happening ALL OVER! Looking for a Santa costume? Party City has 3 price tiers of them - a $30 set, a $70 set, and a $100 set. Pretty good for a starter Santa, though if you're looking to make a career out of this, it's probably best to invest in a higher-quality costume. This store is a little dingier feeling than the one I've been to in the suburbs. Maybe the fluorescent lighting is a little dim? Either way, the fact that they have a big parking lot is terrific - the parking lot of the location by Roscoe/Western looks to be a nightmare. A good resource if you're planning a color-coordinated party and need matching plates/plasticware/napkins and lots of inflated balloons. read more

Always a horrible experience in this store. Went in with my elderly grandmother and was personally clearing her an area to walk because the floors were covered in hoola hoops, party napkins and other tripping hazards. Then in line we were yelled at for simply asking why a balloon would take 2.5 hours to make. We would have been fine with hearing there were pre orders instead of the hostile response given. We waited for 20 minutes after that as the employees begrudgingly figured out how to use a coupon for another customer before it was our turn. When the cashier rung up 3 of our 5 items twice and I let her know, she removed more than she should have from the receipt and made ME figure out what she had done. The only positive of the experience was that they're one of the only places that sells sterno fuel. However, I will be ordering from amazon from now on so as to avoid the horror that is this party city. read more

Can I give zero stars? I'm not sure why keep going to this store- it is disorganized, dirty and not the best prices. Never again now. We recently rented a helium tank- the nozzle was slightly cracked but workable so we didn't bring it back for a replacement while filling us balloons. But when we tried to return it, they said we broke it and gave us the option of either paying $55 for the broken nozzle or $100 to keep the tank. No manager was on duty to complain to and we were basically forced to pay either $55 or $100. Nice customer service, NOT! read more
